Good times for you!

If they don't move them, then people complain why this so-and-so thread wasn't moved to the flameboard yet.
See?
It's a non-stop dilemma.

Skaws post defiantly deserved a warning, but not a ban. Which is why it seemed pretty convenient that it only happened after he called Arc out.

The fact you put 'seemed pretty convenient' in there leads me to believe you understand, and stand by the ban. Not that it matters, but he was not banned for that post. That post he did receive a warning - by me. It was a post later, as was brought to light prior to this gem of a thread, that Skaw earned a Pink name for 7 days.

Then I suppose my point would be, from my perspective he was flamebaiting, and just because he was voicing the opinions of himself and a few of his peers, doesn't make him right. It was also my understanding that he was necessarily banned for just this specific post of his, but it was his proverbial "nail in the coffin", reguardless of how convenient it looked to you and me. But maybe you know better than I on this fact, and if not, Skaw and the mods certainly do.

This is a good point, and I do agree after examining both the situation and events that followed that Skaw was indeed out of line. MY point however is that it shouldn't have really gotten to that situation. The thread should've been moved prior to that

because using capitalization on forums is a requirement. :)

Having a brain is. And those with brains tend to use them to properly articulate their ideas.

any decent thread ends up on the flameboard... look at the threads in qcdn history with the largest post count and let me know where they are situated at.

I could give you the reason WHY that is, but it'd be of no use, so I won't bother.

Besides, it'd destroy your whole argument, then you might have to retreat from the thread in shame and I'd loose out on all my fun.

And again, I really have to ask you, why don't you just put Hellstorm on ignore if his posts make your head hurt? (I know you were elaborating)

No, he's really given me a headache a few times. He does also bring me to the floor with laughter occasionally, and Its fun to have conversations with my friends about how stupid he is sometimes.

they wouldn't get moved if people kept it at least semi respectful.. but once people start disagreeing then arguments tend to go south.

This argument could go on forever, if this thread wasn't moved, none of this conversation would be going on.

Amirite?

Can we just get the post in question posted in the banning thread and from now on put the posts that earned them a ban in each banning thread? Seriously, that'd save a lot of headaches.

The post for which Skaw was banned is still visible I believe. I could be wrong, I didn't ban him.

That'd require work on my part. I'm a very lazy person, you see. And it's shut a lot of people up who keep saying ""This person" was banned for "this""

It's nice to have a disagreement with someone, and not have them just stomp their feet and shout obscenities at you. Kudos Marajade, I serisously have underestimated you.

We've had some laughs at his expense in our LS as well. Its incredibly obvious that he's talking out of his ass about things he doesn't fully understand, which is why I have faith in the user base here to see these kind of posts, which in reality should be ignored, and deciding for themselves what is right and what is wrong.

I mean, honestly, there are so many horrible players out and about, someone reading one of Hellstorms lolposts and taking it to heart should be the least of our worries. Chances are, they already suck ass as it is.

there was arguing before it got moved and was in good times, so no.

Quote it. Other than the two people saying they don't understand the whole issue and that people should just chill out.

If Hellstorm, or anyone else for that matter, keeps putting the same argument forward again, and again, even after people have already shut the whole idea down, isn't that kind of flamebaiting?

Like if someone makes a topic in General Discussion complaining about LFP times. This post, regardless of where it may actually be (FB, Good Times, General Discussion) will induce flames. Isn't that what flamebaiting (trolling, etc.) is?

My point is that it's nearly entirely subjective. Which is why there's this big back and forth argument. Perhaps for warnings, I don't think anyway terribly cares so much, but if you're going to base some sort of further disciplinary action, go at it by a case by case basis. IE, what makes "STFU hellstorm" flamebait, but posting in a thread about TV shows that "tv sucks books are better, everything is ripped off of books" is somehow not? Or posting "WoW sucks!" in the WoW board, or "Xbox kills babies" (which had a tenuous link at best) in the Xbox board.

Perhaps if Hellstorm would actually spell words properly, organize ideas, and use paragraphs, maybe I'd actually agree that it was flamebaiting. Or at least relative to some of the other examples cited. Like posting in a TV thread that TV sucks and books are infinitely better. This post is going to generate flames. Should those flames be punished? There's a bit of grey area there between victim of constant flaming, and provoker of constant flames.

Well, for how strict I was to finally get that board to stop being so full of flamebaits, those two posts alone would be enough in my mind. And had I done that, it would have been a consistent action in the moderation of the Good Times board.

All the flamebait infractions handed out there, actually did some good, and I am proud of that. I have not had to do anything to that board in at least a month.

Again I ask, where was this outrage over insensitive racial remarks in the LOL pictures thread? A thread that was started in September. Where was the uproar over RaiderX's picture on Dec. 8th, post #261 in that thread? You want this to be about people being allowed to post whatever they want, regardless of how insensitive it is, but the fact of the matter is you're completely inconsistent in the application of your own high-mindedness.

The reality of the situation is that someone came into "your" (I use the term your loosely because once you put something on this forum it really ceases to be yours and becomes public domain) thread and said some racially insensitive things and you took offense to it because 1) you didn't care much for the person to begin with and 2) you used the moderator actions in that thread as an excuse to go on some kind of social crusade. The historically significant aspect of all crusades is that once you actually start to examine them, the hypocrisies stick out like a sore thumb.

I find it extremely unlikely that this thread in particular would be in existence right now if one of the other more well-liked QCDNers had been the ones posting said racial slurs in said thread. If you want to eliminate bigotry, I'm all for it, but you better damn well practice what you preach and you better damn well be consistent in the application of your ideals.

I move that red (and grey, under the current bullshit) dot folks be exempt from all protection regarding "flames" etc... hell, any protection under QCDN rules...

How are those even flamebaiting? they're just people expressing their opinion on the issue. Not calling Jamal a fucking idiot, or a looser, or anything. You've a serious lack of understanding of what a Flamebait is.

That is a hard argument to sell, but very logically induced. At best an argument for trolling, but when real ideas, as repetitive as they are, can be classified as flamebaiting... no thanks.

They're not real ideas. They were new 4 years ago, now they're just accepted as wrong. Sometimes I think he's just putting shit forward to provoke people, something Peregrine and Kinkerbelle tried to do.

But then I realize thats giving him too much credit.

Actually, I would consider that an idot's prattle rather than flamebaiting.
Or just being plain stubborn on an idea that many people disproved oh so many times.
Others may not feel the same way since it is Hellstorm.

Hellstorm is the next Blazn or Kire or whatever he is now, assuming that he still plays somewhere.
His ideas are far-fetched and not exactly what you can call conventional to say the least.
You'll see the usual people telling him how he's a dumbass for even thinking that but you know, if people actually ignore his posts most of the time, that would save them alot of aggravation.

These seemed appropriate for some reason.
New avatar for me in there somewhere?
