Halo 3 - Update of Updates

they are releasing a NEW playlist on the 7th, all you have to do is win 7 games in that playlist and get 7 xp.
OR get 7 xp in a playlist and dont play it again till the 7th
 
How's that goin' to work though? I'm already well up there in every playlist as it is. I guess the new XP system is goin' to start us all back down to nil? OR can I just start fresh in this new playlist and it'll begin me at 0?

yes the new playlist will start at 0 since the new ranking system goes like this.

Your service record still shows the highest rank u have achieved, and your highest military rank.
any playlist that is out and still active will keep your current true skill rank for it.
But all exp has been rest to 0 for each list, you must now earn a seperate military rank for each playlist by earning exp. (private etc.)
so when this new playlist hits on the 7th, it will be at 0 exp for everyone, and you will need to win 7 games to earn 7 xp!
 
So are we going to try to get the Annual achievement again tonight, or are people who aren't me and Osyris going to not be on again?

Dude, the missile pod not killing that guy last night was bullshit.

I totally forget what button fires the fuel rod from the Banshee. I hijacked the one that dude was severely beating our team down in(Big Team Slayer) when he tried to run me down, but ended up being killed due to the huge lag and not seeing missiles being fired from somewhere.

thats quite a bit of detail they found! it could go either way, a retail expansion of the immediate followings in halo 2, or a DLC expansion for 3! lookin great either way!

I dont mind either way they go... Bungie has created one incredible universe with Halo... Anything they select from there as a game is fine by me,.
 
I don't think the universe or whatever really matters. I'll give it a try whatever they're doing. Honestly I would be curious to see them do something a little different, like a ratchet and clank style adventure game. I feel like they could show us something new, but if they're stuck in the Halo universe doing another Halo type game, it'll just be something we've seen before done well. Which is worth playing and all, but yanno.

Fire if you only knew how good some of the Halo books are...
Not just because its Halo. The story is deep as shit.

They could make a game and not even mention MC in the Halo universe...
There were other Heroes...
 
John was one of the worst Spartans too. The others pretty much are Superman minus the flight.

Why are people actin' like the trailer didn't have the Halo 3 logo in it? I'm not bein' a douche, I'm just curious. So many people are tryin' to say it'll be a Marathon thing/Halo 2 thing, something not Halo 3 related. It says Halo 3 in the teaser and on the website it is in a square that reads, "Halo 3 Keep it clean".

i dont know, i fully believe its a halo 3 expansion. So if it took place directly after the happenings of halo 2 it would pretty much be the missing part of the story from halo 3, since we didnt pick up where 2 left off. And it seems this story will take place DURING the happenings of halo 3's story so it would be kind of a saw 4 type thing where everything is happening at the same time as the story you already were part of.
why people pretend it will be anything else is beyond me, its clearly stated in the trailer and listed on xbox live as a new halo 3 experience.

Look i understand you guys and i can understand not exactly listening to what a dev says as solid proof... But Bungie said it is not an expansion of Halo 3. For now i go with what they said until they or someone else proves they are just covering something. Thats why Strid... lol.
 
If they said it's not something to do with Halo 3 then they've already lied, which they've proven they enjoy doin'. It had somethin' to do with Halo 3 the moment they put the Halo 3 logo on it. The thing is the dev. said it wont be an expansion. A -true- expansion is something that picks up where something left off and expands it. Tricky son-of-a bitch would say it's not an expansion, especially if it's a prequel type thing. That's how they build a lot of hype, lies and semi-lies. See, had they said it was an expansion it'd be quieter and you wouldn't be thinkin' "OMG wut iz cum nextz0rz!?" (This thread wouldn't be here either, case in hand). Sure, you'd be anticipatin' but nothin' gathers -hype- faster than teasin' and lyin' about a popular product. They've got you guys right where they want ya.

As a gamer... I think this is wher i want to be... Forget if its where they want us.
 
It's not an expansion if you can play it without the Halo 3 disc. It could easily be like Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty, where it's essentially another few levels packed together on a budget, using most of the original games work, but repeating all of it in the new game, so the original isn't required.

If it's just more Halo 3 levels, nothing to be upset about. I'm a hell of a lot more interested in that than more achievements.

A few comments:

All books are going to be more deep than videogames.

A deep backstory doesn't equal a good story or a good game. FFX-2 had a great universe it was following, yet its story sucked. The Forced Unleashed had a greaet universe, yet the gameplay sucked.

The only thing that really matters is the talents of the people involved in the specific game. If nothing else, being involved in an already made universe hurts the story, because it severely limits it. As well anything done is going to be less original.

I also don't think Halo has spectacular story. The overall arc is interesting enough, but I don't think the dialogue is good and I don't think the characters are well developed or interesting. It doesn't come off as a good story set in a videogame. It comes off as a good videogame story. I think in recent years having a "good videogame story" is pretty much demanded for anything big budget enough. So what's worth talking about is something that is a great story even without the gameplay.

I would think the world agrees the books are deeper then any other format the story is released on.

To be fair on the games you mentioned... Just because you did...
SE are terrible at being consistant devs. They have their jewels but there trash does not get brought to the front because of so many fanboys.

Lucas Arts has yet to make a game as interesting and even close to the quality of the flight games they made on nintendo 64.

So it goes right to your last section i quoted here... The only thing that does matter is the devs talent and how they surround us with story and whatnot. From Bungies track record i say its pretty solid this will not be a dissapointment regardless of what it is... Expansion. New disk. Completely new game.
