Hello everyone!

Thanks for the feedback! The forum will stay as QCDN. That works for me! Just wanted your guys opinions on the idea of branching out.

There isn't much of a way to get members active again. FFXIV bombed on release, and someone decided to make this a general site rather than a server specific forum.

Don't get me wrong, I like that this works again, but the likelihood of the forum becoming active for a game that is ~10 years old is a challenge.

You could try bringing back the Real Life board too. It had a lot of interesting stuff and met it's end due to one of the admins thinking it caused too much drama.

It's great to go back to focusing on QCDN as just the FFXI Quetzalcoatl site, but it might be a good idea to pick a specific FFXIV server as opposed to the choice last time to keep it general. Granted 1.0 blew, but ARR is looking to be pretty sweet and I know myself and some of my other FFXI friends are starting to get excited about it again. Considering it is free if you already bought it the first time around, there's really no reason not to give it another go with this classy Yoshi-P guy leading the way.

From what I remember, it seemed a lot of the core posters here picked Istory as their XIV home. So since Istory was merged with Mysidia to create Gungnir, why not keep the site specifically Quetz for XI while in some way incorporating Gungnir for XIV?

Since the first time around it was decided to just be a general site for XIV, my group and I ended up on Bodhum (now Excalibur) so unfortunately we wouldn't be on the same server, but I've always liked using the BHE forum section here and likely still will when ARR releases.

Anyway, it seems to me the magic of this place was because it was a specific community. Might be a good idea to try to capture that for the FFXIV ARR release.

We need to wait for ARR to come out before we decide on some server to play on. Jumping the gun doing it right now. We don't know how many there are going to be, or if they're even going to be the same name.

I'm all for expanding the FFXIV section when that happens and getting some server unity going, but for the time being, absolutely not.

Yeah, that is a good point. Release is supposed to be sometime around March-June which is a ways off yet. Unfortunately.

I get what you are saying as it happened here. The forum was converted away from QCDN in anticipation for FFXIV not knowing how it will turn out. We all know what happened there(I do after the fact :) ). So we can wait to see how it turns out then setup another server based forum section on here, knowing we will get some more users.

Yeah, that's a good idea.

In theory the site could be advertised on ARR the same way it was on FFXI early on. It could actually have a decent amount of pull, being a long standing community and whatnot.

What it really needs (and what virtually every other admin of this site has completely ignored) is a high level of user input/participation in what actually goes down here, changes wise.

Sculli was our first admin and while he was the one that made the site, he also ruined this board. He sold the site with no warning to someone who drastically altered the board, again with no warning. I think the site can actually go places if those of us still hanging around work together on stuff to change.

I agree. Members make the board what it is, so I hope that I can get help from alot of you to make this place active again. I will be an active admin, so don't worry about me not being around.

As a Midgardian myself, I can say this; I was one of the pioneers who poked her nose over here when the merge was about to happen. I think the server problems + we midgardians NEVER had a central board may of contributed to Midgard-merge-ins not using it. Maybe just get the word out to the nice ones?

Also a lot of the pioneers (Treasa, for instance) quit the game. I haven't yet. :)

Hey Shags, I've been wondering: did you pick up the site wholesale from Reeve, or is he still at the top of the food pyramid?

Oh god that's actually where the sweets are

so okay the bottom?

the one with all the grains

it's the biggest

awkward...

Okay that makes you the pyramid then

the whole pyramid

even the sweets

Unless those 500+ visitors in the last 24 hours are bots, you've at least gotten the word out.

Honestly, in the short term you might want to look at reorganizing and consolidating the boards we have. RIght now it still looks like half the board is dead or dying with a third of the posts from over a year ago.

Agreed. That's part of what I mentioned in my first post.

The board banner is still FFXIV and the site's themes are really dated and a little bit overdesigned. There's a Christmas theme that's been the board default forever. While appropriate right now, it wasn't appropriate for the last two years consecutively.

I will be changing the look sometime soon. I will diffenetly change the header logo back to ffxi. I don't like the Christmas one, so I am not adding that back on here. Just to red for my taste. What forums should I consolidate?

FFXI category:

Kill: Auctionhouse, Dynamis scheduling
Consolidate: Event scheduling, LS recruiting, name TBD

FFXIV category:

Consolidate everything to a general purpose forum until ARR releases

Other discussion:

Consolidate Tavern, Fan work, Multimedia
Consolidate Gaming (all consoles)

Doesn't need to be a FFXI logo. One specifically for QCDN is a better idea. Maybe with a subtitle.

Site url mask needs to go back to qcdn.org as well.
