All right. Here's a little back story:
As I mentioned before, I don't like strangers. As a rule, I don't really like people. I find very few people who's company I actually enjoy.
My parents belong to a biker group which meets for dinner every Friday for dinner. As some of you may know, I'm a sucker for good mexican food. My mother told me that they were going to be eating at the best mexican place in Dallas, and invited me to come. It took me a long time to come up with the decision, but it was either go out with them or try and find something edible to cook in the house. Since we needed to go to the grocery store at the time, I went with them. Huge mistake.
It takes us about an hour to get to the place, and as soon as I see it I know something is wrong. It looks like a dive. The inside was even worse, and it was absolutely packed, not so much because it was popular, but it because it was just insanely small inside.
We get in there and find out that they don't take reservations, so no one had set one up and they refuse to seat us until all TWENTY of the other people arrive. By now I am seething, because it's going to be a good 1-2 hours of sitting around, I really needed to be home because my HD had died during the week and was still fixing it at the time, I needed everything ficed before Salvage on Saturday.
Anyway, I go to an out of the way corner by some cabinet to try and hide from the literal mob of people around the entrance. I'm not standing there 5 minutes before 3 women come and stand, I kid you not, two inches from me. I am having to dodge these fuckers' limbs as they flail around during their speech. It's like they don't even pay any fucking attention to their surroundings. I'm not really a person that you don't notice if you're stanidng 2 freaking inches from.
By now I'm hot, angry, hungry and about to lose it with anyone in the general area, so I decide to go outside. It's cold out, which will solve my hot problem, I get away from the people, and I don't have to carry my rather heavy leather coat anymore. Three birds with one stone.
So I go outside and stand by the doors, under the canopy (since it's raining in about 36 degrees). I notice this group of people, probably in their mid 20s, smoking and drinking in the outside area (it wasn't raining very hard). Two of the people were a couple. After about 30 minutes their friends leave and they stand across from me under the canopy. A few minutes later the woman randomly starts speaking.
Her: I'm so excited.
She's looking directly at me, but her head is on her boyfriends shoulder, so I assume she has an earpiece for her cell phone or something. I was wrong.
Her (louder this time, looking at me again): I'm so excited.
Me: Are you talking to me?
Her: Uh huh. I'm so excited, I have to tell the world!
I figure the guy proposed or something, in which case I can understand how you might be excited enough to bring a random stranger in on the conversation.
Me: Why?
Her: I just learned that I passed my test!
Him: She's been studying all week with no sleep.
Her: Yeah, I'd watch him go to bed at 11:00 every night and sleep like a little baby.
At this point, the 6'5" tall guy, who is quite large, walks with extreme haste towards me. As soon as he starts, my instincts start sounding huge warning alarms, and I prepare myself for a quick fight. I didn't tense up, but I was prepared in case anything went south. I didn't want to really fight him, if anything went bad, I planned on hitting him once or twice really fast and getting inside. My father carries a pistol on him at all times, so if things got bad, he'd have my back.
He walks over to me, gets right in my face, his breath reeking of beer and cigarettes and says...
Him: The book was like this thick! (he motioned with his fingers, indicating it to be around 3 inches thick)
Me (trying to sound interested, relieved that he's not going to try anything): Wow, that's really something.
Then the woman walks over.
Her: Yeah, I had to study so hard! It would've looked bad if I'd gotten the promotion and didn't pass the test!
What promotion? I'm thinking. No one mentioned anything about a promotion.
Him: Actually, it would've just meant you'd wasted all the time at the company.
I can't remember the rest of the conversation really, but a few minutes later my mother comes out and tells me the table is ready. Only 10 of the 20 showed up, so we got in early (still waited over an hour).
Anyway, there it is. Not a big deal, like I said, but still unpleasant.
Oh, and to top it all off, the food was horrible. Not to mention the menu outright lies.
I always get a chimi when I go to a mexican place (not including Desperado's). I've had them very small and literally 12 inches long. The menu said it was a 10 inch chimi. If you've ever had On the Border's chimi you know that 10 inches isn't unbelievable. When it arrived, it was about 3 inches long and 2 inches wide.
Now I'm not complaining about the size of the chimi, I'm complaining that the menu said it was 10 inches. It was more than enough food, but I don't like being lied to.
Oh, and they also overcharged us by $20, which we called them on. So yeah, avoid the Blue Goose if you're ever in Dallas.
