does anyone have a list or link of the total items one can posess for negative avatar perpetuation? seems this is probably the most valuable asset to being end game summoner so i was hoping to see all the options. i have the following items as is but wonder what else i can wear for the effect.

haves: wants:
vermy cloak yin yang robe
appollo / neptune hq staffs full af 2 gear
evoker's ring
full af 1 gear

You can't have negative perpetuation, per se...closest you can get to that hope is relic Horn/Body with matching elements&avatar along with an HQ elemental staff, AF+1 Feet and Nashira hands. This, of course, still leaves you with minimal chances to have a free avatar at any given time, unless you're looking to tote a free Diabolos/Fenrir in Dynamis.

Additionally, alot of endgame stuff won't require low perpetuation costs unless your avatar itself is doing the tanking (i.e. SMNburning Jormy, or something). You'll most likely just be doing the summon/BP/release thingy in most cases...I'd say the most valueable piece of equipment you can get is Relic Feet, to be honest. Relic Hands and AF Pants' effect doesn't even stack, so the hands are sortof pointless unless you got Relic pants to go with them (which are debatedly useless as well, so...bleh...)

Second most useful would probably stuff that reduces BP delay, which is basically Penance gear and relic.

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/skillmods.html?fskillmod=222

Those two links should give you all the items from both somepage and Alla that lower the perpetuation cost. I'd have to agree with Ish that these items, although nice, are not what improve the job the most. For the most part, you would want -BP delay so you can lessen 60 second BP timer which ultimately is what limits the job the most.

http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/list-by-affect.php?affect='Blood%20Pact'%20Ability%20Delay
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/skillmods.html?fskillmod=362

These links will give you the items that lower BP ability delay. The lowest delay you can possibly have is 46 seconds, down from the initial 60 second timer. To get that low requires obtaining drops from NMs (Yinyang robe), HQ synths, relic items from dynamis and AF+1 (Limbus upgrades) if I remember correctly which if you haven't guesses, is a lot of work and gil to obtain all the best pieces.

Edit: Fixed link.

Nice posts so far, just what im looking for thank you. now i have a good reference for future goals. i will also focus more on the -bp delays.

If you want the lowest Perpetuation cost then you'll want these items:

Bahamuts Staff/All 8 HQ Elemental Staves (-3)
Nashira Gages(sp?) (-1)
Evokers pigaches +1 (-1)
Evokers Ring (-1)
Penance Robe (-2)

For a total of -8.

If its on the right day, then Summoner's Doublet will mean an extra -1 ontop of Penance robe, and if its the correct weather, Summoners Horn will help.

If your working on spirits, then you can have 5 merits in there, making your spirits cost the same as your avatars (With capped Summoning Magic, they can become pretty efficient)

Seph, do you think putting Merits in Spirits is a waste?

I never use them, and I mean never.

I'm thinking because I'm about to chose what I put Merits on... ; ;

acutally yuop can have a hitgher refresh rate vs perp cost with carby mitts/ YYR/ apollos staff I gain mp with carby out

I would put BP reduction over perp cost myself anyway. SMN has a huge mp recovery rate and most of the time we are not tanking with avatars. but having a shorter blood pact delay can be a godsend. I have yyr/ JHQ staves and all the smn relic except the legs and I swap in stuff for different uses. Yes the doulet is very nice if its that days avatar and if your lucky to get the weather effect of your avatar then yes you can cut into that perpetuation cost.

I guess it's a matter of opinion and priorities. but you are on the right track Yin yan robe is probably one of the best peices in the game for us simply because of that -5 bp reduction. some of the relic peices are nice. Also evokers ring is a must have and no smn above 70 has an excuess not to have this ring

couple nice things for smn endgame:

Hedgehog bomb
Astral earing
insomnia earing
antivenom earing
fenrir's torque
republican bronze medal
intensifying cape
serket ring
tamas ring

I'm sure ive missed some things maybe people can add to this list of nice smn stuff ^^

Side Note: A smn's avatar tanking jorm not only cannot hold hate, it's just begging for a flail, I wouldn't recommend trying it. =D

After spending Alot of time skilling up Summoning Magic, im starting to find that the casting rate on spirits is _alot_ better than it used to be. There also nuking alot more than they used too ^^ (My fire spirit cast flare twice in a row last time I was soloing). And my light spirit likes to spam CureV/CuragaIV when theres someone under 50% HP (When it switches to healing mode).

http://killingifrit.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=75469 - A really interesting read if your into spirits at all =P

I somewhat agree with the minus in Blodo Pacts delays, that is right now. People seem to have forgotten that SE plans to not only link our Summoning Magic to our avatars, but is going to introduce some kind of bonuses for keeping them out. Therefore, gathering the minus perpetuation cost stuff now will help you later. Think about it. Once SE does that, people will flock for their summoners to have minus perpetuation costs to obtain said bonuses.

SE needs to make it so you get SMN magic from BPs aswell as the summoning.

It's too late for me... I'm at 1 level to cap SMN Magic at 269.

I can probably tell you how many leaves that little tree at Rolanberry's zone to Jeuno has.

; ;

ps. Seph, that link has awesome info on spirits. thx ^^

My personal engame gear/wants:

Weapon: HQ Staves/Bahamut's Staff. No brainer.

Ammo: Hedgehog Bomb: Another no brainer - lots of MP and -enmity in a slot that normally gets neither.

Head: Summoner's Horn isn't bad, but if you can't get one I think swapping Austere/Penance Hat for BPs and Walahra Turban for resting/curing is fine.

Neck: Fenrir's Torque or Rep. Gold Medal, depending on the situation. Summoning Torque may prove useful with the new update.

Ears: Loquacious Earring/Magnetic Earring. I can't advocate -HP items at endgame, especially as a Taru. Astral Earring gives more raw MP, but 5 MP for -25HP is not a good trade, IMO.

Body: Yinyang Robe. Penance and Summoner's are both situational but in almost every practical situation Yinyang is the best out there.

Hands: Carbuncle Mitts and Summoner's Bracers.

Rings: Evoker's/Tamas. Serket, again, gives more raw MP but you're losing 50HP in the bargain and I can't endorse that. I kinda like Ebullient Ring too.

Back: Intensifying Cape, Summoner's Cape, possibly Altruistic Cape if SMN magic gets super-useful.

Waist: Hierarch Belt, no question.

Legs: Evoker's Spats if you don't have Relic gloves, either Summoner's Spats or Yigit Seraweels if you do.

Feet: Evoker's Pigaches for soloing, Summoner's Pigaches for other uses.

One thing that I don't think was mentioned that is something that I personally would like is a bomb ring for the HP Boost. Ironically we spend so much effort trying to boost our MP that we fail to consider HP. It is bad enough that in some events where I might die in battle and be raised.. any, and I mean any aoe attack will insta kill me. Granted, I wear way too much convert gear and should change that, but the added 75 HP could be helpful as I can always remove convert gear when nessessary.

I advocate both - prep items and - bp items. Ironically I bought all HQ staves back when they were twice the price they are now, but have yet to buy penance hat that has also lowered a lot in price. I think that largely has to do with the the way that I play summoner. I often solo, and thus being able to keep my avatar out as long as possible can be a greater asset. In a sense, my theory is where as lowering the BP timer I might be able to get my bps out faster, but without the mp there to use the BP, its not going to do me any good. Again, it really is case by case on what activities you do along with sense of balance. I'd recommend all of the gear mentioned in this thread, although understand you don't have to have all of it to be effective.

Most of the items are very rare and difficult to come by/and or expensive. Pace yourself, and make your goals reasonable. I.e. if you can't afford a full set of HQ staves get all of your NQ and slowly replace them one at a time. Also, do a lot of dynamis >.> hehe. You don't "need" something like a serket ring but of course depending on the sittuation it can be nice to have. I don't have one, nor do I have a hedgehog bomb. I have my old, trusty fortune egg!

Doesn't set me back at all, so again, pace yourself and make goals. Odd thing that I find with summoner is if you enjoy the job you will play it well regardless of what is filling your equipment slots. Adapt.

im so glad i dont participate in endgame. keeping track off all this stuff gives me a headache.

Edit: this post was me being an ass on account of mistaken Identity. Thanks to Moriki for pointing out my error. My appologies.

I agree with the +HP stuff, but given the choice I'd go Gigant Mantle over anything in the ring slot since your net gains from those are normally much greater than the 15-30MP you'd get on the back.

I am an Mp whore.

My goal for my smn endgame stuff -

Weapon - HQ all ele staves (bahamuts staff is hard to get and...doesnt give the bonuses to whm and blm that ele staves would give)

Ammo slot - obviously Hedgehob bomb. +30 mp
Head - Zenith crown +50mp
Neck - Gold Medal or Uggalepih Pendant (sp?) +50/+20mp (i think it miteve been 30 but i forget so im going with 20)
Earring 1- Loquacious earring +30 mp
Earring 2- Astral Earring +25mp
Body-Dalmatica +50
Hands- Zenith (something) +50mp
Ring 1- Serket Ring +50mp
Ring 2- Evoker's ring +25mp -1 perp
Back - Blue Cape +1 +40 mp (i think there is a better one but i forget atm)
Waist - Hierarch belt +48mp
legs - Zenith +50mp
Feet - Zenith Pumps +50mp
Food - Marron Glace +85mp
mp weapon - himmel stock +63mp

Total - +696 mp. +666 with uggalepih pendant xD

now +696mp = almost 4 minutes of having HQ staves instead
= 87 seconds of having -8perp

edit: oh yea....if the monster looks at you with this much mp and this much hp you will die, why because you are...weak. lol

Dead Tarutaru!

Just thinking of what your HP would be makes my skin crawl. lol. There are times when all of that MP can be a great asset to you.. other times all that - HP gear is going to result with you being dead. While dead all that excess MP does you no good especially when you take into account summoner def (or the lack there of.) A dead mage is a worthless mage in my opinion regardless if you have the greatest gear at your disposel. On a side note.. I push cookies and HMP items. Glace can be great in some sittuations but most of the time you will drain a lot of your mp before you get the chance to rest. I guess it would depend a lot on what kind of event you are participating in.

Hehe, though yes, I have a hard time changing the opinions of mages who pride themselves in having the largest mp pools. Usually just means that I'm alive to raise them when the fight is over. :P On the other hand-- with the def of a summoner chances are if something hits you regardless of your HP you've got a good chance of death.. but I've been saved a few times ;)
