I hate low level leveling..

and bitching*

yeah I phail at typing XD.

I don't think anyone said that either. But you yourself mentioned that you weren't aware of Barfira until much later. As is now the case with the new player.

I also xp'd in a vastly different time. When a lot of this information was still being found out. You are failing to see just how long this game has been going on and just how much testing has been done to completely prove, without a doubt, some of the things.

Point being, claiming being misinformed in this day and age with the game is just silly. Everything has been tested and re-tested and there are hardly *ANY* facts that can't be found by googling a site for information and looking for it.

I know! Maybe they didnt have that spell because they were just "having fun" - that's a good reason not to have it right? xD

Another common thing I've seen when I was lvling SCH in dunes and qufim was that people were embarrassed about doing the wrong thing because their friends have warned them about people that are higher in lvl ruining reputations for new players before they even have the chance to develop their reputation to be a good player.

I feel its important that people be more constructive instead of being bitchy with like you slid bare-ass down a slide lined with sandpaper. Even if they don't take the advice that's on them and they will realize their mistakes the hard way when they don't listen. Bitching will only make some people not listen more.

Its only 3 if you are cool enough.

How is this thread 9 pages?

The original post was replied to enough that 8 pages had been filled along with the beginnings of a 9th page.

Is this the type of answering I should be doing to novices in the game so they don't feel retarded when they say what does barfira do?

You know as much maligned as that 'Brady Guide' is, I had one when I started playing this game and checked the whm spell lists so that I could be ready with a spell to use as I hit that level. I know that guide has errors in it and bad advice but for the most part it helped as a aid to a new player.

The guide is no longer in print.

Thankfully. =p

Keep talking dipshit.

Ok I will. It's been proven that Sipahi gives less returns than haubergeon, and lets not forget that accuracy on some weapon skills is a hell of a lot better than any strength or given by the sipahi. Peti gives accuracy and attack which would give better results on a weapon skill like rampage than the little strength given by the sipahi.

Peti for TP and Sipahi for WS, would also be a viable Hauby til Hauberk alternative. [But I'd rather just get the Hauby. ^^]

But I'd rather just get the Hauby.

What part of "I ALREADY FUCKING SAID THIS," don't you understand? Or do you just like to look stupid.

While a person should never say "it's just a game" to excuse their own gimpiness, when dealing with other players, especially newbies, it's probably a good thing to say. People here treat fellow gamers worse than they'd treat anyone in person. Is it wrong not to have all of your spells as a mage? Yes. It's preferable to have them ready for when you ding, but even if you buy the spell after the party, but before your next party, things are alright. But, noone's perfect. Looking back, I was a horrible player as a newb. I didn't party. I was missing the nonvisible equips till about level 15, and I used a statless club to melee with as my whm. I don't think I started using the auction house till 10 when my r/l friend found you could sell crystals there for a lot more than the port windurst npcs would pay. I played in my own little world, really. I can't be mean to other newbs.

What's worse?
A: Saying "I didn't have barfira three levels after I could have learned it."
or
B: Saying "I like my high horse, it makes it easier to avoid dumbasses."

The answer is B. You can solve problem A by saying "You can buy Barfira from X npc in Y city. You're going to need it asap." Problem B can't be solved without an entire change in personality. That'll take a lot longer to fix than a jog to the NPC after exping.

One of my RL friends has been playing with her b/f for about a month, she plays everyday.

.... She's only level 6

I dunno about the rest of you, but I love low levels :P solo-ing = win.

I can't seem to get a party in dunes for the life of me...was so close one day but had to go out ; ;

On topic, I think you shoulda just told em where to buy it...new players are new players, they don't know much about the game until they have actually experienced it. Which one of you guys read the Instruction manual of a game before you play it?

Anyone expecting a Dunes/Qufim party to have players that are prepared for absolutely everything should also expect the player to be able to walk on water.

Not everyone comes into this game with oodles of information or real life friends to give them information. I joined this game and server with my former fiance who promptly quit afterwards. He was at a base in DC with the Marines so it wasn't like I could just ask him whenever I had the chance. I did a lot of noobish stuff. Christ, I solo'ed in North and South Gustaberg until level I was a level 15 BLM when I got my first party invite. A random person at the AH in Bastok asked me why I was wearing such horrible gear and I told her I didn't know what to get. I explained to her that I was new and she helped me out. Quadav Backplates were good selling back then so I was able to afford good gear and my spells that I needed as she helped me out. (thanks Reedo, if you're out there <3 )

It isn't our job to babysit players, it isn't in the contract when we sign on for this game. It's not apart of the rules. But, as a community if you're going to just let someone continue to be an idiot I think you're just as bad as they are. Yeah, sometimes its just a bad night and you dont want to deal with explaining every little nuance of the game to people, but sometimes its best to. You won't see needless flames like this one or ones about horribly gimped players. Yes, I realize you will anyways, not everyone will listen (Fuk yu, i play CoD4 I kno how 2 killz stuff) but maybe some of them will. At one point someone did help you. Talk yourself and your playing experiences up all you like, but at some point a player took you aside, placed you safely under their wing and gave you some damn good advice that you may still follow today. Pay it forward, people. Yeah, its great to be an 'elitist' and its great to be awesome at your job. Its also great to be able to teach someone to expect those types of standards for themselves.

That's about all I have to say.
