I’m not sure you understand this but I think it is important for us as a community to distinguish between real players and fake ones who take up space on the server, not playing, and making it hard on us who DO play. You have been given credit for your actions since and I know how interesting the internals of the game must have been for you. I studied programming (just not enough) and graphics and I would love to have your knowledge or be able to do what you can do. In fact, I would love to be able to create games and I’m a genius at designing them. HOWEVER, as a GAMER cheating in a multiplayer game is unforgivable. HOWEVER… the only way I could see redemption would be if you turned your gaming career around by causing more good than bad. You supplied hacks. The resulting actions of those you supplied reflect on you. Your legacy is probably still cheating as I speak so in essence YOU are still cheating. The only redemption I can think of if you used your hacking ability (like a white hat) to stop cheating, turn in names (to us if not to SE), and prevent as much hacking as possible. You can even submit code to the developers to help stop the hacks you know about instead of exploiting their weaknesses. Please forgive them if making an actual GAME was their first priority and not a security against their own customers. I mean you really don’t seem like a bad person. I just think you don’t really understand how bad your actions were. It is not just curiosity on my part. As a REAL player I want to help make FFXI a better gaming environment for myself and my friends because this is where we like to play and hang out. It’s not just a game. It’s people.
