if you were a designer for SE....

I was hoping my PvP idea would be response more then the crafting idea but in the end who cares because SE wont implement any of them.
The only thing PVP-wise that I'd like added is duels. Ballista is worthless, because on the rare occasion that I'm actually interested in PVP, people are too stupid to understand what "1v1" means.

As for open PVP, that would lead to massive abuses and drama like you've never seen. Imagine you're exping, and it's in between mobs, and a couple people come up and start beating on you. They don't have to kill you, they can just do some damage and run off, because then the mages will have to spend time/mp healing you which will ruin your chains and lower exp. There'd be even more fighting before NM spawns, leading to even more zerging of NM's than before as you want to have enough people there to wipe out the competition. Or just run up to people who are afk and kill them, none of it's very appealing.

If you wanted to fight, you could stage a duel, or go to the zones specially designed for pvp.

I would allow PvP in the form of "duel"

It would be a command in teh chat items, etc box and you can issue it to a person, its a one-on-one combat any lvs and items go they can be specified by the challenger on the rules ie no items or ja's,etc.

Another feature of it would be is that you can wager exp or gil a maximum of 300exp and there is no limit to the gil.

A limit on teh exp is because i could have a lv 75 blm and i forfeit to a lv20mnk 7000exp which would make the lvs sky rocket and make a new type of exp seller.

I would limit the duels to 3 a day. No it wouldn't stop expsellers but it does constrict it a lot.

You must also be lv20 or higher to have a duel and it must be quested

I didn't add that the one challenged had to accept before the duel starts but i meant it. Or that you can only do it outside of cities

You could stage one yes, but the problem is that when you want to fight someone it is at the spur of the moment, and often you want it to be 60 or uncapped and its not available because of this going on and the person you want to challenge is going to go soon or will be busy the rest of the week.

PvP does exist in the game but it isn't dynamic or flexible which makes it somewhat impossible

I'm not a fan of duels personally. Ive fought 1v1's and I'm yet to lose one in Ballista actually but their not fun. They take waaay too long (especially the ones Ive done PLD vs NIN and NIN vs NIN), and they just seem so tedious.

Yeah, I'm not interested in PVP all that much, but when I am it's usually just to fight one person and duels would be perfect for that. New forms of PVP events could be interesting, but they'd still boil down to teaming up against one person.

Jousting baby. On chocobos. Oh yeah.

It's supply and demand. Supply goes up and we have less and less use for crafters. I never bitched when crafters had a stranglehold on the market and made 100s of millions of gil, I don't see why Squaresoft should step in when the market naturally progresses the other way, giving power to the consumer who has long been at the mercy of crafters. When prices of HQ go down it will be better for the average player.

Furthermore, such a system would make Ex/Rare items much more in demand than normal items, being that they will last forever. It basically devalues gil by making things that are buyable worth much less than things you have to get yourself. Some may agree with this but I don't, being that making gil itself is a chore.

A more workable system that would take crafted items out of the market but at a controlled rate would be to rip off Asheron's Call. When I played they had a system called tinkering, where you basically use tinkering(crafting of Asheron's Call) skill to try to make existing pieces of armor better. Of course there was a chance in the process it would be destroyed.

With a definite 100% time that your armor will be destroyed, it would mean we need to churn out new sets of gear faster than ever before, even faster than when the server was just born, as at that point our standards were far far under what they are today.

And then many crafted pieces are based off of NMs that pop based on a timer. There literally won't be enough for everyone based on how fast they can possibly be produced and a life span on each of them.

The end conclusion is... if crafting becomes less profitable, stop crafting. If less people craft, crafting becomes more profitable. The economy has matured, therefore the power is swaying towards the consumers, deal with it.

I like the whole deteriorating armor and weapons thing. It definatly would have a huge affect on the economy, possibly lowering prices across the board and making crafting much more useful. I was a medium to high level crafter in DAoC and RvR was a great place to make money simply because all my job was to make seige equipment pieces. Then another guy would put them to use and I made a few gold everytime guilds that knew me fought for the motherland. I figure they would have to implement NPC gear as being weaker than crafted though. Like instead of an NPC tunic being 9 DEF, it would be 7 or 8 DEF, and the crafted would be 9 with the HQ still being 10 DEF. Also, instead of having to throw away your used armor you can take it to a crafter in the feild that makes it and they can repair it for you. That would solve the problem of R/EX gear, and Baja wouldn't have to worry about being gimp without a SH. The only probem I would see with this is in DAoC you get hit in specific places, in FFXI you just take damage as a whole. I don't know how big a problem that would cause with all the recoding that would need. All in all though, deteriorating weapons/armor I give a thumbs up.

I think it should be possible to do a simple synth that "re-synths" an NQ piece using the same crafting levels but maybe a slightly higher chance of HQ and much higher chance of Break results... or maybe make the "NQ improvement" synth make -1 results as well.

1) HNMs would be absolutely random.. no 30 minute intervals for 3 hours crap D:
2) Dynamis and Limbus time limit reduced from 3 days to at most 1. (drop rates would remain the same)
3) One would be able to trade in the earring from either Apocalypse Nigh and/or Divine Might to choose another as many times as they want (but can only be done once every 24 hours)
4) Quests worth doing D: story-wise or item-wise.. atleast something worth doing

I think that'd be it

Tweak the skill up rates of Parry and Guard. Unsure if Shield still needs it after the many changes towards them. If it's still tediously slow, increase the rate of it as well. Since you can raise evasion without actually evading, shield/parry/guard should as well. Big reason why they skill up so slow, is because you HAVE to have them fire off to have the chance to skill up.

After the Shield Mastery trait was implemented, I've always thought the top dogs of the other two defensive skills need a similiar trait.
Add Guard Mastery to Monk, since Puppet Master has pretty decent Guard skill(Bsomething.)
Add Parry Mastery to Samurai, since they have the highest parry grade.

I think SE should allow hq items to wear down to normal items(like mentioned above), and normal items wear down to be repaired like cracked armor and broken swords. Only then could crafters repair it.

Of course the obvious end-all thing would be to lv the craft yourself but with the way prices are, is that really going to happen?

I would put stats on all the generic defense only armor that noone ever uses. The stats would never surpass the stats of the current elite armor such as Scorpion Harness and Haubergeon, but every armor would have stats conducive to the level that would give players more shopping for their varying budgets. Let's face it, when it comes to gear, there're two options: the right option and the gimp option. SE offers very little in between. You either have your Haubergeon at 59 (is it 59?) or you don't. There's no generic gear that's comparable albeit slightly inferior. I don't have many specifics on what stats what currently useless armor would have, but they will scale pretty gradually based on level, HQ/NQ and price. Essentially it'd let the players maximize their potential based on their current savings. At the moment, a player either has 10 million gil, or has nothing, and there's no in betweens. There needs to be a steady stream of in betweens, and way less Def only AH space cloggers that garner the wearer only ridicule.

On a side note the biggest thing I'd implement would be a total makeover of the seeking system, allowing an in game system for finding people for BCss, missions, quests, assaults and seeking as whatever jobs you want simultaneously.

I'd also make god gear able to revent back into abjuration form, so if you want to for example turn a koenig head into kaiser, you don't have to get a new abjuration - you turn your koenig into a npc and it turns into a abjuration, and the old cursed item is lost.

Isn't it bad that the cursed item is lost since that is what you needed to get the stuff in the first place?

Ie cursed dragon greaves>crimson greaves?

Sorry don't know anything about that

To get a cursed item like crimson greaves, you need the cursed greaves (dunno their actual name) and wyrmal abjuration feet.

You can buy the cursed greaves, but the abjuration only drops from either a certain god or land king.

So basically, fire wants to be able to undo his zenith mitts into Aquarian hands, so he can bankrupt himself on zenith mitts+1

Regarding your suggestions Decidence: Sounds like UO. God how I miss that game-- good times. Honestly though, in that game you still had a large supply of crafters. In PvP your corpse could be looted if not insured. If a monster killed you-- it could also loot your corpse. You could actually kill a monster who looted someone else and get their stuff. (most people returned the looted gear as good stuff was "usually" insured.) We had guilds there and materials were more in supply. Your gear could be repaired. It could also be lost while the repair was attempted. Common gear was easily attainable as it was also easily lost. On a guild raid you'd usually use your common gear. If it was lost you could just get it back and not have to worry on insurance or it wearing unessessarily. Usually the best gear was saved for PvP encounters.

In PvP the names were color coded. Reds being the bad guys.. I forgot what the Good Guy color was.. and then there was grays who were in between. I was a carebear type.. so if I saw a red while mining I usually tried to run away. Those bastards would kill you to loot your ore. They were the bane of every miner.. BUT.. don't think you didn't have the option of revenge.

..that was the nice thing about being in a guild. ;)

The game was a lot more dynamic than this one. Monsters were not as predictable as those on here.. and soloing was pretty common and you were not restricted by levels. You could get by just fine with "regular" gear. I was in a more role playing community, so it was pretty neat over all. There were the non-pvp zones, but there were certain notable bonus' to playing in the more "dangerous" areas-- over crowding, etc.

..the one thing I'd change (taking again from experience in UO)... being able to tele/warp to any location in the game I wanted to if I had been there before and/or a rune that had marked at the said location. (They some what did this in adding the Staging Points/Out Posts)... but cutting out the half hour + it takes to get to kirin's room would be awesome. Say its time to gather for gods.. I could just cast a spell and be in kirin's room or genbu island, etc. Legalized warp hacks!

Only MMO's Ive played is SWG (1 month), Planetside (3 months) and Jumpgate (1yr+), which all had PvP styles to them that were fun to be involved in.

Lot's of people are mentioning that this and that idea are similiar or a rip off of BLANK game. Isn't almost every MMO the same basic principal with varying degree's of discepencies set in different worlds with different characters/enemies.

1) Make AF2+1 what it should have been... Give us the things we actually were hoping for. Give us the incentives to go to the CoP Dynami that should have been there.

Example:
YES, make the Assassin's Armlets +1 TH+2.
YES, make the Saotome Kote +1 Med enhancement another 20 TP, or at least give a substantial WS accuracy, Accuracy, or STR boost...
YES, make the Koga teko's nighttime limitation disappear...
etc...

AF2, should be some of the best gear in the game, to be worn all the damn time, not macro'd in for 2 seconds... I.E. make AF2 more like Uncursed Cured Gear.

or....

AF3?

2) Finish the RSE sets, We are missing the RSE2 Bodies and Legs.

3) Make the Ark Angles' RSE available.

4) Add a new Race that's right... You start over, from scratch... As a Qiqirn. =]

5) Give me a BC versus those little Taru from the CoP missions. There's nothing more in this world I would love than to slice those little monsters into mulch or use them as bait.

6) Add Pheonix. Quest: Level SAM to 75, then level SMN to 75, Talk to Tenzen, then you get a GK and have to kill 10,000 of the Fomor around Al'Zahbi, using Cosmic Elucidation. Cosmic Elucidation can only be used if you have the GK, and Sub SMN. (I.E. Latent Effect: Cosmic Elucidation).

7) AF Weapons +1 (Limbus Weapons)

Example:

Razor Axe +1: DMG: 48, DLY:250, Str.+5, Dex.+5 Enhances Double Attack.
Marauder's Knife +1: DMG: 28, DLY:180, Dex.+5, Agi.+5 Enhances Triple Attack.
Etc...

8) More 'Black Belt' type Quests, with equally impressive rewards.
Black Belt is: MNK: Haste +12%, Str.+7, Physical Damage Taken -5%, Subtle Blow +5.(Gotta get 3 items form the three land king HQ's, or a 2% drop off the NQ's)

Perhaps:

Berserker's Faceguard: WAR: Double Attack +8%, Attack +30, Pysical Damage Taken -5%, Critical Hit Rate +5%

Burglar's Pants: THF: Critical Hit Rate +10%, Dex.+5, Agi.+5, Treasure Hunter +1, Steal +5

Armageddon Ring: BLM: Magic Attack Bonus +10, Int.+7, Bonus Damage on Magic Burst, Enmity -5.

9) Trophies!!!! I want Fafnir's Head mounted on my wall god damnit...

10) The ultimate Crafters' Gear: 6 Pieces of gear, all made from 8 pieces of Rare/Ex Crafted materials, each material is Level 100 craft. Yeah....
- Alchemist's Polymer.
- Goldsmith's Bearings.
- Blacksmith's Chain.
- Bonesmither's Plating.
- Clothcrafter's Weave.
- Woodworker's Board.
- Leathercrafter's Skins.
- Cullinair's Crease.

Simple Description on all the pices of the armor:
Lv.70 all jobs, Set: DEF: 60(Bd)45(Lg)30(Hn)40(Hd)30(Ft),
MP +40,
HP +40,
Elements all +5,
All Skills +3(Body and Legs +5)(+/-1),
Haste +4
MagAtt +3,
MagDef +3,
All Stats: +5(Body and Legs +10, Attack, evasion, and Accuracy)

Totals: Def: 205, Skills+20, Stats +35, Accuracy+35, Attack+35, Evasion+35, Haste +20, MagDef +15, MagAtt+15, MP+200, HP+200.

And Finally:
11) Goggles! Idk what the stats are. Give me goggles god damnit!

Anyways those would be some of the things I would want.
