I want some god damned versatility, or just use from PUP. And I hate how people throw that word around when they try to defend the job. Versitility is PUP's strong suit? It's not. In a party situation, it can offer mediocre magic, or mediocre physical attack. It's hardly an esteemed solo'r, and as I've stated, it doesn't offer anything to a party or endgame group of any kind that another job can't do better. This upsets the hell out of me.
See, I love the air of the job, but SE hasn't done much for it. They just keep throwing a handful of attachments at it every update. If that's any indication as to the direction in which they're taking the job, then it wasn't meant to be anything more than an uninspired DD. And come on, we have enough of those, right? Uninspired certainly isn't the way they sold the job, or at least, the way I see it. I love the concept of the intimate relatoinship between master and puppet. It's something you even feel a bit leveling the job. There's just something about getting a Cure III/IV just before you bite the bullet, having the puppet interrupt an enemy JA, or Flash for your Utsu.
I wish we had slightly more control over the thing, for one. Maybe a JA that instigated either a WS or spell. This JA would then be further directed by the attachments you have equipped and maneuvers you have up. For instance, you would use Very Creatively Named Magic JA with a Fire Maneuver up, and your puppet would cast it's highest Fire attack spell. Mixing the elements accordingly could give you Enfeebles. Likewise Creative Physical JA and a Fire Maneuver would give you Cannibal Blade on command. If this seems too complicated, I wish they would just fine tune the attachments to curve the puppet's behavior more to our liking and necessity. The Scanner could be more effective, for instance. I wish it wouldn't just use the next spell on the list if the mob has a high resistance. I would like to see it cast TO the mob's specific weakness. I can't complain about how they handle WS'. Either they have to improve our control over the puppet, so we can better micromanage and accomodate to different situations and be more efficient, give PUP some other creative uses, or just buff the puppet and the master, stat/gear-wise (the very probable cop out). Personally, I'd like to see PUP be able to do something different. Playing it for a few levels, it feels like a completely new job.. just the output is nothing we haven't seen.
This is an idea thrown around PUP communities, but what if PUP were capable of short bursts of tanking? A JA that pulled hate at Benediction levels (say, recast 1:30). These and more defensive attachment abilities. The Schurzen supports this idea, as it negates a full enemy attack at the cost of an Earth Maneuver. Thing is it will only eat that attack if that attack is gonna kill the puppet. I don't like the insinuation that my puppet isn't going to survive this ordeal. That use for PUP is just speculation, but the potential is there in the attachments. More so if we get a new JA. And it fits perfectly with the Valoredge frame. I'd like to see creative, extended functions of each frame. PUP is in limbo right now.
Eh, I skim what I've wrote, and it dawns on me that I talk too much. Basically, SE, PUP. Make something happen.
