You admit you don't understand it, so you express your lack of understanding with attacks, insults, and ridicule.

Thanks for proving Windy's point.

not like this is first mmo to do this either online dating has gone since mmo where created. In everquest there where times where gm would even come to your wedding. Boy I love there gm system so much better. Gm play a open role and you chould tell where they where, also they whould drop in on events from time to time. Like this one time where we was killing this sea dragon for druid relic weapon and there was 3 gm there to watch.
Lol, you think thats amazing. You should try to get into Anarchy Online's GM/ARK (adversaries of rubi-ka (kinda like sub-gm)). They have tons of different story characters/GM Events that are exclusivly for one allegience. For example look at the stories in Editor News forum and imagine them being acted out. ^^ Its quiet beautiful for being a small budget 5 year old game.

Ok i ran across this a couple of time, but in game dating, wtf is that. I mean i know in the beginning when you sign on they say dont forget about friends family...etc, it should add, find a girlfriend or boyfriend or something like that. If your married or dating the person in RL than cool, have fun messing around in the game, but an in game boyfriend or girlfrined, husband or wife. I dunno maybe its just me but seems kinda retarded. I just dont see a purpose, i mean is there one? And dont tell me its to get to know someone, cuz thats what linkshells and /tell are for..

In game dating can be nice. Yes, you have friends, but sometimes you want someone that is more, someone to do things with as a partner, spend most of your time with , level jobs together, and to share affection with.

People usually have no problem understanding the concept of meeting someone online via a dating site or myspace, but for some reason don't get it when it comes to in a MMORPG. Personally, I think its even better to meet them in a game than on a dating site, because you have more chance to interact, do things together, see how they react under pressure, how they treat others, etc.

Additionally, for some of us, the game is a bigger part of our lives than RL is. RL to me, is a necessity to pay my bills so that I can play. I work 40 hours a week and do the dishes and take out the trash and make dinner, but its all just a necessary evil so I can play the game. So, I'd like someone to share the most important part of my life with.

I really like that statement Beka =)

A cute perspective. Its like the game drives you to continue to work, because without FFXI it seems the only thing to drive you to pay your bills is being homeless...

I made out with a tonberry once. It was weird at first but I got used to her. Real nice gal.

People were all skeptical, saying like "she'll cut your throat man" or "you know they're just ancient souls that are trapped in these horrific bodies for reasons I won't detail, right?". But you know what? I didnt care. We were made for eachother.

Then she hit me for 8472 points of damage from some grudge. Like hell I'm calling her back after that. Bitch.

this statement is funny. You get defensive about someone saying something in the jest like they know you, yet you attack something you dont understand towards people and things you dont know. i think you just pwnd yourself.

my view on ingame dating, online dating. whatever. if thats what ya like, so be it. whos to judge it. Its easier to "Fall" for people online because its all text n webcams. you have time to think of the perfect things to say before you type them. Anyone can be that "personality" people seem to look for, some people may have trouble talking to people in person, so online its easier for them to express themself in talk about feelings with a person and build a bond.
These people may even meet some day and carry on the relationship IRL, while that is usually the least likley, it does happen.
I only knew my wife online for the longest time through the linkin park street team. we ended up meeting together with the rest of our states part of the team at a concert, i stayed at her place the night before the concert.
i ended up liking her online before i met her in person, and i still liked her then.
she turned me down when i asked her out the first time, and changed her mind later, and here i am now married with two kids and it all began online. we even started playing FFXI together. granted it didnt take place in game, but just because it starts online doesnt mean it cant become something real since the basis for what was built is already there.
in my highschool years, i dated a few girls i met online as well, and we dated in person eventually as well.

Im against in game dating

</3 hurts

It gets pretty weird and more detailed than a person would like but I sort of treat it as an element of the game nothing more than it. Like RP which i do a lot of to a certain extent

My opinion is that how can someone fall in love online? Thats just me ^_^;

I actually think its easier to fall in love online... you get to know the person inside, not the body, and the person inside is where true love is directed. If its just physical that's called lust.

People have no problem with the concept of picking up someone in a bar and falling in love. In game you get to know them MUCH better.

I fully agree that there is nothing wrong with lolinternet dating. A close friend of mine found someone he loves very much through this game. they have met and all that. So there is nothing wrong with it but if you take it too far like some people. then yes it can be wrong.

just because i agree that it's okay does not mean i can't joke about.

Some people need the physical connection, some people like to develop an emotional connection. Some people like to become really good friends with each other before dating.

Personally online allows you to open up alot more (at least in my experience) without the fear of face to face reaction. Often times more of the truth comes out when you're not face to face. I actually think an MMORPG with the right ingredients is preferable to a e-harmony.com style online dating. FFXI if you add on phone conversations, talking with the individuals family or friends outside of the game, knowing to at least a degree (and I know I'm going to be combatted on that point) that they're somewhat trustworthy can make a relationship work.

People need to learn to not be so meek in RL. I bet most people here don't do well in social settings and it comes accross in game. Grab your nuts and do it, running to FF so you can have a relationship isn't going to solve your problem of sucking at talking to people you like in RL.

But on the other hand, the meek can get to know someone well enough online and become more comfortable talking to that person. Once they are comfortable talking, they can move from in game to real life with that person if they chose. I honestly think in some instances it's a crutch. People rely far too much on being social in game and neglect any form of real life interaction. I know some are socially awkward and have a hard time in public settings, but they need to learn and no amount of online interaction or dating is going to change that. Not entirely disagreeing, but it works both ways.

Eleibfrid & I met online. We're still going strong. <3

(well, I mean, when he isn't hitting me for not making good enough supper. ; ; )
