I tryed the dating thing on diffent mmo it give the game diffent twisted making it little enjoyable. I would not do it in this game, but i can see why people do it.

online dating isnt relly dating. It's more of... getting to know a persons personality beforehand while knowing that it could be a completel fraud as well as thier apperance is a fraud. until you've met em in Rl you've not dated em yet.
Take an old form of online dating. The love letter. Do you consider 2 people that write to each other to have gone out on a date? Generally the people involved have met each other though and there is alot less of the lying about personality/appearence/gender issues so it's not the same thing. Secret admirer letters are the only form where at leat one party involved doesnt know which person it is pysically. So.. a secret admirirer and love letters ect is the closest thing to online dating because the admiree is getting to know the admirier based on his/her personallity.

A date is something pysical that 2 people do together. online dating, love letters, and (phonesex?) are just ways to get to know a person and judge em on personality over looks.
 
Do people even write love letters anymore? I mean isn't a computer/email much easier, or is there a certain essence about actual hand written letter? Oh and btw I never intended anyone to get so bent outta shape about this so, ya, good job with all the opinions....

I know this is old but To me i have noticed you get to know the person, But in the end you also don't know them. They show you what they want you to see even if you talk to them over the phone you are only getting what they want you to get. In the end online dating is just crap. I have a friend she married a guy she meet online but they dated long time after they meet also. But for me ppl are going to make themselves look good just to get you sucked in then you get to see the real person and most the time it isn't what you had seen before to develope feeling for. So i say get out and find the right one in rl not on game.

The reason this would happen is that this problem/excitment is always constently happening. But when when does friendly banter become something more, are there keys to look for?
 
Reason for online dating Hmm ppl are lonely, or thing going bad for them at home and they find comfort in another person that makes them feel special. Sad thing is most the time this person is also making 5 other ppl on the game feel special to lmao. Don't have to be about cybering, just has to be that you have meet this person you clicked and a friend you have made becomes something more to you. I'm not saying all relationships started online go bad. But i do know that most you cant always trust are 100% honest with you so why not go out in rl and find someone have them lie to you to your face... Much easier to knock there ass out face to face then over a game.
