In the army now

If you're going to try to tell me you never had kids cause mischief with pint-size milk bags, I'm simply going to take it as proof that Canadians aren't really human.

There's only one road in Canada, the results would be catastrophic to the entire country

internet in break rooms, 5-10 min smoke breaks after classes, off at 6pm, steak and pasta for dinner.. life is good.

The explosion behind Genk would be much larger. Also, Genk only carries one gun, leaving the other arm free for random bitches and/or beer.

Add about two dozen more tanks/choppers behind him and it would look like one of Genk's Dynamis pulls.

I dont have much time, just a quick hello to tell everyone im alive and in basic.

Motherfuckin Hooah!

Anyone miss me yet lol

Im so sexy in uniform

Double - checked to see if this was posted on April Fool's.

I guess Canada does have a military force, luckily it is the 46th largest in the world, and has less people in standing and reserves than Japan's Self Defense Force by almost 4 times.

I guess Canada has something.

Smoke breaks and off by 6? What the hell kind crap is that no wonder no one knows they have any military.

You guys MUST be bored, or just lack wit. You keep regurgitating the same digs on Canadas Army.

Shit have ya got anything else? No?

I am surprised to hear he's yet to get his ass beat... but it'll come.

To be honest, if Basic Training is that relaxed in Canada, you should expect a certain number of digs. Considering that Basic in the US is pretty much one phone call per week for about 10 minutes of total time, no smoke breaks... ever, off at whenever the drill sergeants feel like letting you go, which could be not at all, etc.

I'm sure someone that actually went through US Army Basic Training could give a more thorough description than I, and from what I understand, Army Basic is considered rather pussified by the Marines.

That having been said, the Canadian Army has a long and honorable tradition.

Yet they still seem to kill as many of their own/allies as they do enemies.

He's probably stretching the truth >.>

RIGHT Genk

The first 2 weeks are all ways administration bull shit.. Like insurance, blah blah blah, after that tho... it gets much more fun... then the guys are supposed to break you... in 4... then 8...

Huh?

I question the reason for this sudden, apparently serious, dig at the US armed forces.

Even my old geopolitics professor said in class "Canada doesn't really matter", jokingly of course, but with reasons of course.

Honestly, it isn't a bad thing imo. Comparing it to the Japanese SDF is kind of fitting in that I see it as a good thing that places like Canada and Japan don't have to worry about military issues, I am far from pro-military spending or pro-realist power projection, but I would admit being under the US security umbrella isn't the worst place to be.

Your military is extremely impressive but you elect morons to control it, and you give them full unconditional control as of late. This "umbrella" you speak of casts too dark a shadow at times and I fear the day a real adversary knocks at your door. A country with a larger military power than pipe bombs and human shields.

A good example of a stupid person with his head up his ass. Obviously no country matters compared to the might of the all mighty American empire. I cannot wait until the day you beg us for our fresh water or other resources... but I guess you will just invade if you don't get everything you desire.

Imo, America would be a much more impressive and healthy nation if even just a third of the accounted for military spending went to homeland structures rather than trying to control the earth.

Good luck up there Genk, I hope it helps you as much as it has me.

Everybody else needs to shut up.

I'd like to reiterate Nyett, I do not support realist power projection and military spending that is as far as I remember 5 times that of countries that conservatives in the Pentagon see as a threat - China (for the record I don't see China as a threat). 5 times as much and working from a foundation that is way ahead of the game.

My point is simply US military spending and the US military umbrella is nice for countries under it in the case they don't have to spend money on the military. Canada's geostrategic position and relations with the US put it in the position that it probably wouldn't require a large standing army in the first place because lets face it we aren't fighting each other along with Iroquois' and the Huron Confederacy. For nations like Japan the story is much different because of a different strategic position they face, they would most likely have to spend a great deal more on a defense budget.

Quite frankly the biggest adversary America has concerning itself and issues of defense spending and the military industrial complex is itself, threat projection and conservative policy feeds the further entrenchment of these groups into places of privilege and that is the biggest hurdle America has in the realm of defense and military.

That old guy with his head up his ass is actually Irish first off, second off it was an off-hand comment. Third, tell me why Canada is of great geopolitical relevance. Four, tell me why you would even want Canada to be geopolitically relevant. Five, this professor whom even I am sure I would have disagreements with on somethings has been publishing and teaching for at least 30 years so I would tend to give credence to things he said. Six, did I mention it was a joke.

If I were to say "Canada doesn't matter" if I was serious of course I would phrase it in a more palatable rhetoric, but it would be the same as when I was in Japan and Japanese were afraid of a democrat being elected in the US because of the democrats greater tendency to engage China which conservative politicians saw as a zero-sum game for support and favor. Often I would respond simply, considering China's importance in Asia and long-standing engagement with Japan, why shouldn't the US focus more on China in their relations? The same applies with Canada in a sense, Canada is important in certain aspects of our economy such as energy resources, but in other areas Canada is a non-issue and when it comes to the military Canada is not of great concern to the United States and why would either of us want that to be otherwise.

Imo, America is arrogant in a lot of respects and this arrogance is fed by ignorance and blithe generalizations also imo a lot of anti-American sentiment exists and is often fed by ignorance and blithe generalization. I will be the first to admit maybe what I said came off as somewhat arrogant and derisive, though it wasn't meant to be, but responding in a manner that only mirrors what you perceive me doing buys right back into silly power positioning.

I can't help but find your whole response to be done so in ignorance.

I consider that a grammatically correct sentence. The previous sentence is more easily proven than yours.

Can you give me reasons?
