I hope the new THF trait will give us something over DRK/THFs *cough* since 60+ they tend to take over our job.
Something like, your PT get 999999XP just for having a THF on board.....oooo yea. =P
/keeps dreaming.

I hope not...as I am just about to hit 60. Sry thfs ; ;

There is no substitute for a good player either.

We have one. Several actually.
- Thief Knife
- Assassin's Armlets
- Harpe
- Perseus Harpe
- Mandau
- Shark Bite
- Mercy Stroke

yes, but aside from Shark bite and mercy stroke, those are all hard to obtain equips.

people get our traits just bu subing thf. seems slightly unfair that we have to spend huge money to stay ahead of pople who just sub it.

WAR is in the same boat in fact.

Heh I don't know if we want to see 2000+ thfs on on any given night though.

All I got to say is this:

As you all know, I am a pretty serious NM hunter.
I am creaming my pants at the opprotunity to hunt more.
Nothing in this game has brought me more joy than the hunt.
Hell I even Hunted NM's that don't drop anything...

I agree, those are fun. Uncamped, there when you visit, and a change. Hell i went around with nin25/thf stealing silver coins for a friend/screwing aroung the hoo spawn with another friend, and anyways on the way back to windy i killed like 3 NMs for fun, and it was challenging with my nin, but nice.

Stackable foods which weren't before?

ok not the best out of the list but I HOPE that
includes some ingredients.....

cough San d'Orian Flour cough

^^god hate cooking with this.... takes all the inventory

I personally hope to sweet lord that the stackable food is Juice. Jesus that drives me bonkers :x

The fee collected when placing items on auction will be determined by the current auction price, not the store/guild selling price.
This will be extremely interesting if it does what I'm expecting. Given all items in game sold for extremely little when sold to npc's, the base fee to put things on the AH was never very high. Start basing it on a percentage of what the item is being sold for and things should prove interesting. 20k gil fee to throw up your vermillion cloak for 2mill might motivate people to not keep raising the prices. This might be an attempt in disguese of SE combating the rampid inflation that is occuring on high price items and encourage more competitive pricing.
# Chat filter options will be expanded.
This is extremely good news for brds and rdms. I suspect it has to do with the filter 'effects of special actions on others'. Anyone who has partied near another parties brd knows without that filter on they see all the song effects hitting every single person in that party. That's a lot of spammage. :x Yet, on the other hand when that filter is on, it blocks out all monster buffs that are performed. Thus players needing to dispel are stuck in a catch 22. You either leave the filter on and get spam from other parties and miss the mob buff line anyway, or turn it off and get no spam, but no message about mob buffs.

Damn it Sabia, you beat me to that comment. Yes, I hope to any God that it is juice they're finally going to let us stack. I guess it isn't practical since you could picture 12 bottles of coke jammed in yiour pants all of sudden fitting into one pocket, but still...like i care if it's realistic..I'm a 3 ft child like humanoid that's afraid of being punted.

# Chat filter options will be expanded.

Yeah I kinda just skipped over that one, It would be nice if my avatar's damage wasn't counted as "others." It's bloody annoying because when you're in populated areas I'd love to see how much damage my avy's are bursting for....

WELL..... I did quit the game, but if this update does everything it says it is going to do that might make me want to come back and play.. damn you SE...

/em Does the THF dance

It'd be nice for WAR to get a new ability or trait for once. :/

Sounds cool though. I still want to know if they're ever going to do a full Conflict system, or just keep PvP to Ballista.

THF get Subtle Blow.. surpise~!
No, no, they get that silly old trait from like FF5 where they can see secret passages. So you'll know REALLY REALLY EASILY where the Crawler's Nest secret room is. Wouldn't that be awesome! :D

I think it will go BEYOND discourage price-jacking. Imagine the undercutting and price dropping! Think about it. You just paid 20k to put an item up, do you really want in comming back to your MH?

Interesting Update Info from POL :D

The holiday season is here and the Final Fantasy XI development elves have been busy putting together goodies for all the good boys and girls of Vana'diel.
We are planning our next major version update for Thursday, December 12. The details of the update are as follows:

# There will be several new quests and events added to the Promathia areas.
# New quests will also be added in Non-Promathia areas.
# New monsters (including notorious monsters) will be added.
# Over 15 new "orb battles" will be added.
# Several new weapons, types of equipment, and items will be introduced.
# The difficulty of selected Promathia missions will be adjusted.
# Tavnazian Archipelago supply quests and regional teleportation will become available.
# Chat filter options will be expanded.
# A new Gobbiebag quest will be introduced.
# Shortcuts into Promyvion - Vahzl for those who have partially or fully completed the Promathia mission will be added.
# "Temporary items" found on the Balltista playing field may now be stored in one's inventory for the duration of the match(es). Also several previous "special" rules will be implemented permanently.
# A new point system for rating Ballista participants on their performance will be introduced.
# The stack number for several select items will be increased from 12 to 99. In accordance with the adjustments, players will be unable to put items up for auction for a short period of time. Details on this temporary maintenance will be provided soon.
# Several previously unstackable foods will now be stackable.
# The duration and effect of certain foods will be adjusted.
# The Old Sabertooth in Sauromugue Champaign will no longer drop any items.
# The variety of items that can be dug up using the "Scavenge" ability will be increased.
# A new thief job trait will be added.
# The potency of etudes will be adjusted.
# "Spirit Link" will now heal a wyvern's status ailments.
# The accuracy of "Blood Pact" attacks during magic bursts will be adjusted.
# The strength of "Blood Pact" attacks will not increase as much when fighting weaker enemies.
# The order of messages that appear when using the /nominate, /vote and /propose commands will be adjusted
# The fee collected when placing items on auction will be determined by the current auction price, not the store/guild selling price.

In addition to the changes mentioned above, many other adjustments are being made. A complete list of all changes will be available on the day of the update.
Also, we are planning several new events for the end of the year, so keep your eyes open!

Another issue being addressed during this version update is the monopoly over certain monsters and items by a number of players.
The development team is currently working on several methods to combat these types of actions.
Some methods include the introduction of similar items, and new ways of obtaining items.

Articles 23, 24 and 25 of the PlayOnline User Agreement as well as Article 6 of the Finaly Fantasy XI User Agreement specificly prohibit the sale of any in-game money, characters, and/or items on internet auctions, etc.
Any players found participating in RMT (Real Money Trading), whether it be buying or selling, may have their accounts terminated. Please consider the consequences before partaking in actions that may result in the destruction of all your player characters.

Finally, for all existing and future Windows version players, we have developed a new benchmark program to test the playability of Finaly Fantasy XI on your personal computer.
"Vana'diel Bench 3" will not only display the stunning landscape of the Lufaise Meadows, but will also offer a sneak peak into some of the most exciting cutscenes from the Chains of Promathia missions! To download this free software, visit the Final Fantasy XI homepage, or any participating game sites.

I like too know how or what they are going too adjust. I hope they make it where you can go through the empty on your way too the Burning Circle without a 2 party alliance. Its hard too get people.

# There will be several new quests and events added to the Promathia areas.

Hope doesn't require you to be in like mission 5 and such....

# New quests will also be added in Non-Promathia areas.

[Hmm...]

# New monsters (including notorious monsters) will be added.

New... crabs? Beetles? HOPE NOT!

# Over 15 new "orb battles" will be added.

NOT 99 SEAL WHICH ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO KILL!!! AND VERY BAD REWARDING PLEASE!!! How about umm... solo BCNM? :P

# Several new weapons, types of equipment, and items will be introduced.

Wondering for which job...

# The difficulty of selected Promathia missions will be adjusted.

Make that bull S*** random portal crap out please... that will reduce the trip by HUGE.

# Tavnazian Archipelago supply quests and regional teleportation will become available.

Cannot comment. I never been there.

# Chat filter options will be expanded.

Woot!

# A new Gobbiebag quest will be introduced.

As much as I like this, I really want my mog safe to expand...

# Shortcuts into Promyvion - Vahzl for those who have partially or fully completed the Promathia mission will be added.

I don't know about this yet...

# "Temporary items" found on the Balltista playing field may now be stored in one's inventory for the duration of the match(es). Also several previous "special" rules will be implemented permanently.

Never was a fan on ballista so not sure this eighther.

# A new point system for rating Ballista participants on their performance will be introduced.

Ditto on top topic.

# The stack number for several select items will be increased from 12 to 99. In accordance with the adjustments, players will be unable to put items up for auction for a short period of time. Details on this temporary maintenance will be provided soon.

PEBBLE 99 PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

# Several previously unstackable foods will now be stackable.

Hmm... stackable drinks are welcome, and also stackable big pies and such are also welcome too.

# The duration and effect of certain foods will be adjusted.

"Ajusted" eh... is it me? or I always felt something "NEGATIVE" will go when they use this term -.-

# The Old Sabertooth in Sauromugue Champaign will no longer drop any items.

2.5years old content fixed!

# The variety of items that can be dug up using the "Scavenge" ability will be increased.

I hope there won't be any "SCAVENGE BOT" by doing this...

# A new thief job trait will be added.

I say, it will be Gil steal 2, or stealth.

# The potency of etudes will be adjusted.

Hope to the positive side.

# "Spirit Link" will now heal a wyvern's status ailments.

Nice, yet this still doesn't fix dragoon's disadvantage in PTs.

# The accuracy of "Blood Pact" attacks during magic bursts will be adjusted.

Uh... like they have time to do MB -.-; Perpetuation cost down [Yes, Please]

# The strength of "Blood Pact" attacks will not increase as much when fighting weaker enemies.

errrr... they deserve to be nerfed??

# The order of messages that appear when using the /nominate, /vote and /propose commands will be adjusted

I have no idea about this...

# The fee collected when placing items on auction will be determined by the current auction price, not the store/guild selling price.

This... purely... stinks -.- I cannot put items freely on AH I guess.

Another issue being addressed during this version update is the monopoly over certain monsters and items by a number of players.
The development team is currently working on several methods to combat these types of actions.
Some methods include the introduction of similar items, and new ways of obtaining items.

Finally, there is hope... explains the sudden decrease in items too.

Perhaps with the availability of good items for casual players expands the need of RMT will be reduced, perhaps perish in time.
