Is dancer going to be like a brd?

I dunno if WAR would do much help with DRG you get the attack/accuracy bonus and Jumps. SAM would be a good sub considering meditate. Although it doesn't seem like the kinda job that would have such 'heavy' subs.

If it's going to melee, it will probably do its best to make its hits worth a damn.

I dunno about you guys, but Red Mage has never been "Good" at doing melee damage in any Final Fantasy. Even in 1, unless you gave them Excalibur, they fall way behind. Even with Excalibur, they aren't going to compare to the Black Belt. Not even a blip on the radar there.

The job has, and always will be, simply a meeting point between White and Black magic, with restrictions on both sides of the fence so that they aren't more powerful than the two specialist jobs they take their magic from.

The only reason why meleeing was an option for the job in previous incarnations, is because in all the other games, meleeing doesn't force a mobs abilities.

FFXI's design meets the original design pretty well. All RDM teams in FF1 worked not because of their melee damage, but the ability to use both white and black spells. Seriously, battle times are much, much, MUCH longer doing Red Mage x4 in FF1 than say, Fighter x4. Or even standard party set ups. They just aren't reliant on items as much, since they can use Cure spells and sleep.

That one Red Wizard you gave Excalibur to will do leaps and bounds better than the other three. Ofcourse, if you have a group of RDMs in 11 and have one with Excalibur, he's going to do leaps and bounds better as well because of that wicked additional effect.
Again when have I ever said that rdm was suppose to be on par with warriors come on now that like calling a Corvette a Viper. However does not mean that RDM don't have or should not have any melee capabilities.

You're calling them a "battle mage," indicating that they have strong melee capabilities, otherwise there'd be no reason to throw battle in there. Just being able to melee doesn't make you a "battle mage," otherwise WHM would still be a better battle mage than RDM. You're backtracking pretty hard now, did how wrong you are finally sink in?

/rerail

Anyone know what DNC would sub? I'm guessing DRG 20-29, WAR 30-59 since it's the best DD sub for now, then /SAM 60-75 because of meditate? DNC seems all about the TP after all.

I'd stick with war for double attack though, I'd of thought that would give more TP over time than meditate? Maybe someone can show some figures for or against? Probably will end up subbing nin for dual wield if they use daggers like most people seem to think will be the case.

You're an idiot.

Learn about your own job first before you start talking "facts" about another.
I not saying anything about drg, I've always love drg in a party, but there dmg number was never as good as that of war or mnk so they never got invites, because no one ever took in to effect (and still don't) there more to this game then just dmg.

BUTOMG! RDM can wear COMBAT CASTER GEARZ!!! Totally lots of STR on that for 1337 damages to the baddies.

Obviously you have never seen Eleib in action. Foot in Mouth 4tw :D

As I've stated before they are battle mage because they do have melee capabilities and have more sources to melee gear then that of whm. However that not saing they have on par dmg to war in any way.

Hmm, Reverend Mail isn't real?

Double Attack procs 10% of the time, Meditate gives you 60% TP every 3 minutes. Which is 1 TP every 3 seconds. Let's say you are using a dagger with 180 delay, which is 5% TP every hit. So that's 5% TP every 3 seconds, not counting misses. DA activates 10% of the time, so that's an extra 5% TP every 30 seconds. Meditate would be 10% TP every 30 seconds, and that's even assuming every melee hit connects, so SAM would definitely give more TP.

Actually I have I he is really good at his job. Have you seen lucifar on his Rdm nin?

Be a mediocre DD? Yeah. What's your point? When there are 15 other jobs that DD better than RDM, even trying to classify RDM as a DD is stupid.

A gear that was added for whm who wanted to melee when cop came out. Rdm get AJ and palawan sets though. In fact we get pretty much all the same gear drg gets. With few exceptions heca, JSE.

You get sword or dagger. You get a lower skill in both of them. You don't have an accuracy bonus. You don't have a Wyvern helping you. etc etc.
