I spent a few minutes at my computer thinking about what I was going to type here. After seeing countless posts like it over the years, I realized it's hard to type out all of your FFXI experiences. But I'll do my best with this so, here goes...

Lately I have been finding myself more bored than usual with this game to the point I was literally forcing myself to play, even before the level cap increase. However I tried to give it a chance and make it fun again but sadly, the only joy I had was the first joy you get when trying the new update but after a while you get over it and in my opinion, this level cap increase is like re-living the climb to 75 and meriting all over again and just when I feel I've done everything, more gets added and for me it's getting really old and repetitive. Like when I first got lvl 75 on BLM. I was like: Oh so this is it. Eh, ok. So I tried leveling other jobs. The sense of accomplishment was great but boredom set it in and now I'm just over it like most people that quit.

While I know this is the nature of MMORPGs, (this being the first and only one I've ever played) I just don't want to do it anymore; at least not on FFXI anyways. Some of you might think: "If you don't like this anymore, then why are you going to play Final Fantasy XIV?" To answer that question, all I can say is this: Change of scenery. Based of what I've played so far on Final Fantasy XIV Beta (played at a friends house), it seems like there will be lots to do and I can do it when I feel like it. Most of my friends that were luckily of enough to be chosen for beta say they enjoy what they are able to do so far.

So it is for this of many reasons, when the collector's edition of Final Fantasy XIV is released, once I get the free item, I will be deactivating Davion indefinitely. Yes, this is an early goodbye thread but I'd rather make it known now.

I've played the game for 6 years, at times hardcore and other times casually at my own pace. I've met a lot of great people, nice people, not-so-nice people, real people, fake people, and good people gone bad. I enjoyed each experience and interaction for what it was. There is a lot of stuff I have not done in the game, lots of items I wanted but I don't have, and lots of missions I have not completed but its ok. I did have the desire to complete and obtain these things but, I'm just over it. The want for it is just gone.

There are a lot of people I have met over the years that most notably made an impact on me and out of that I've have some great friendships that have carried on outside the game and experiences I will never forget. <3

Now for the shout-outs:

Vorhan: The very first person I met in when I started playing this game back in 2004. He was, at the time, a level 60 PLD and showed me around and power-leveled me with out me even asking. I was sad when he stopped playing but I was glad I met him.

Glos/Infini: My first Japanese friend! He helped me get sub job items, escorted me places, helped me with quests whenever I asked, even if he died a million times he kept helping me. For those that know me I hate asking for help. But him helping me out of the blue was a huge surprise because that was the time where Japanese players only played with Japanese players and rarely assisted anyone else.

Justarius: The person I call my Black Mage sensei. Taught me everything I needed to know about being a black mage; what foods to eat, what gear I needed, etc. Helped me out when he could, always there when I needed him.

Welkin: I met Welkin in Gustaberg while running for my life from a train of Goblins down Vomp Hill just outside Bastok on my White Mage. Welkin and I did random game stuff. The most fun was Welkin's "attempt" at escorting me to Jeuno for the first time. I didn't have any maps of the areas, wiki didn't exist yet and I had no clue where I was going. The first thing he said to me after she took me to the Holla crystal was: "....so...once in Jugner, If you get aggro, I can't save you. You need run like hell don't stop, just run". Yeah you can tell what happened and it lead to the next person on this list....

Raye: Everywhere I seem to die for some unknown reason, Raye would just seem to run past and toss me a Raise and be on her merry way. Such a cool chick. Such fun times.

Debo: My White Mage sensei. Debo reached out to me of his own free will. Apparently while I was leveling my fishing skill one day, I apparently saved his friends from some monster's in Qufim on my white mage (before they faded away when you zone or out run them, or die) that some people had linked. To show is appreciation he helped me upgrade my white mage gear and taught me some of his macro's that he used to make things easier.

Morpheous: There's so much I can say about this guy. I admired him in so many ways. He and I were like completely inseparable for a long time. EXPing together, getting missions done, or just hanging out. If you saw me, you saw him. Just that simple. I was sad when he quit but I'll always have the experiences

Heilger: You are by far the most random person I know and yet so fun to be around and one of my best friends. You can piss everyone off, but we can't stay mad at you cause it's too funny. A player with amazing skill but without the elitist attitude. Can die a million times, but not go into a rage when you do so. A person who goes out of his way to help everyone when possible and make it fun.

Mercator: Another one of my oldest friends from way back when in Reishu's LS (i forgot the name :( ) You and I, as friends have been through a lot. But it made us better friends in the end and I'm glad you are still my friend :) Through random adventures, randomly killing mobs to make Shantotto our bitch. Such fun times!

Reishu, Weaponslayer Jiran, Daveman, Masamage, Zhy, and many others from that same LS: It was wonderful experience and so many random outburst in LS chat it was freakin hilarious.

Zaltana: My summoner rival, of course there is no rivalry when it comes to you and me :) cause I always win :) but you're such a cool beans person. You and Phaba-baba are so funny. Especially this one time you two found me when I was AFK somewhere and proceeded to poke me endlessly. Coming home to a screen full of poke emotes is was....I couldn't even put words to it.

Blazeoffury: No I'm not making that sig and I'm staying away from you and table tops. That is all.

Tristamgreen and Stine: Or now I can call you Daddy Green and Momma Stine now  You two were a joy to be around in game, even though I kinda wander off a lot from LS to LS just find my niche, but each time I encountered you guys, it was always fun :)

Jeiger and Nyxie: You guys are nuts. Complete nuts, in a good way. The stuff I'd see you solo or duo I'd be like: How the freak? You guys are great. I wish I could have stayed in your LS more but I had to go where I was needed and with the right timing and work changing and me graduating from school. OH YEAH! Jeiger called me the night I graduated. That meant a lot. Thanks so much, I felt so loved.

Tripphacker: You're a weird one, but a great friend.

Trindel: When you left I was sad. I knew you were on to bigger and better things but when you left I was sad: Thank you for the signed Noble's tunic. It's treasure no one else will ever have.

Lecreuset: Who knew the day I met you in Port Jeuno was like a fated meeting. You have become one of my closest and dearest friends. You can be a real jerk. A very blunt and opinionated jerk. But I don't think you're so much a jerk as you are misunderstood. Through the long talks we've had in game, to ventrilo, to the phone, and on skype. I couldn't ask for a better friend. I appreciate your wit and your realistic attitude. You were always there when I needed you. You always helped me even though I know you couldn't stand it, not so much me asking but what the task was to be completed but you did it anyways. :)

Khidir: The one person that could possibly need me at all times of the day, night, dusk and dawn. But somehow is only able to find me 90% of the time when I'm AFK or about to log for the night. We never did have that RDM battle, but I dont think you would have lasted long. You know I dont fight head on, I wittle away at you from a distance and watch you suffer! But I think now more or less it could go either way if we did do P2P but the only battle you would have that you couldn't win was making me do it when I don't feel like it. It was always fun hanging out with you though, doing random things. Killing Charybdis with ya for your joy toy was exciting. Aside from FFXI, you're a great friend and most willing to do almost anything for everyone.

The Members of lolDynamis: The oldest running and one of the most successful Dynamis linkshells on our server. I had so much fun with you guys. I wish I could have come back before you guys split but its ok.

Reliance LS: Moriarti, Caliysto, Rhay, Tribalinius, Gunblade: With this shell: I had the most fun and most drama-free endgame experience. The banter and conversations on Ventrilo were priceless. Even with Mori screaming at the top of his lungs, it's a wonder he never lost his voice but the shell ran so smoothly.

xxMilleniumxx LS: Ukee, Zexxion, Tin, Kaylee, Xthyl, Juppy and everyone else: You guys are so much fun. Social LSs are made of this: carefee attitudes and drama-free atomosphere.

To everyone I have met that knows me. Whether it was a good experience or a bad experience when we met or did whatever we did. Thanks for making the game enjoyable. Most people believe that bad experiences make the game bad. While that is true, you have to accept them to appreciate all the good things that have happen but also to make sure that bs doesn't happen again.

If I have forgotten anyone please don't take it personally. There are tons of people I have met and that I have had wonderful experiences with but I can't recall everything but please do not believe that I didn't appreciate meeting you or hanging out with you. If you remember a nice moment with me feel free to post it here, I'm sure I'll remember once you describe it.

Again, thank you to everyone that has made this game what it is for me.

I will be in game ever so often before the release of FFXIV if anyone wants to do anything in game or may need my help.

I wont lie, I kinda die on the inside whenever you afk but you're online, just a little but we've have some good times man. Wish there was someway to make it up to you personally since you never asked for much(of course I helped get blue spells for you spinal cleave was a BIOTCH!), but you're always cool in my neighborhood and I'm glad you're taking steps in life for whatever you persue since most people dont and its easier to just chillax and sitback when at our age it just means we work harder with less time to enjoy the things we really want to do.

I'm not sure where that last sentence came from but it felt right saying it. Cheers dude!

And man I miss blazey with a passion the only career ninja I know and a damn good one

I miss you too Dav, I miss the old time on vent with Mori yelling too haha. I miss that dynamis san d'oria where we held the mobs in front of the ah lol. It was always a pleasure to play with you old pal. I hope to see you in 14 :).

Thanks for the mention my friend! I had a lot of fun over the years doing so much. You have always been there for me and you are my oldest friend that I've met from the game (that I've kept up with at least)! I still can't remember the name of that ls either haha, just some of the remakes after.(shizuka kinen, nein shihai, zubaki, subaki?, etc.etc.) Those were some of our best times in game, running around with Reishu and Masamage and all the rest. I've always looked up to you for advice in game (especially when I left the world of tanking jobs) as well as advice in real life. Thanks for sticking by an old friend.

For nostalgia's sake when I played FFXI on SNES:

I'm glad to hear that you plan on playing 14. Hopefully we can be on the same server. So this shall be a "Ta-ta for now" post as we'll be n00bs again soon enough.

Always a cool guy Davion. I remember seeing/talking to you in game on the odd occurrence, I look forward to possibly playing more with you in FFXIV!

Just seeing this. You were always cool Davion and I'm pretty sure we did something in game together but most of my FFXI history is a blur to me now. But we has MSN!

You should spend 25 dollars just to transfer to Asura to see my Velocious Belt that's already been outdated and start some shit so my AH player warning gets bumped. :D
On the real, you've seen me go from one extreme to the next.
The bright-eyed, friendly noob who'd do just about anything for just about anyone...
Into the devil I am today.
It's been a hell of a ride and immensely fun, and you're one of the people I've missed the most from Quetz.
Genuinely friendly to everyone and mean to no one undeserving.
Never condescending or mean spirited in anything you did.
Never involved in the negative games on this forum, or feeding into anyone's negativity in game.
You are a ray of sunshine, and although you talk almost as much as Calintz does.
I adore and admire the hell out of you.
You are a great friend and despite me being a poor friend in regard to keeping in touch, I hope we always remain dear friends.
You are a blessing to anyone who encounters you and I hope that everyone else you encounter in life acknowledges and treats you as such.
You've been a blessing to me on more occasions than I care to mention, and although tired of hearing me bounce ideas in every which direction, you'd listen anyway.
Enjoy the rest of your pre-retirement from XI in the Boca Raton of Final.
You know, unless you transfer.
I may be one of the most misguided/hated/laughed at bastards those of you reading may have known...
But take my word that those of you who are friends with Bryan, will have a hard time finding one to rival him and never find one better.
If you see him around the server and don't know him, I highly implore you to say hi.

This is far from goodbye.

- Thomas

Take care Davion.

You will do as I say damnit!

Welcome to the dark side :)
