John Stossel's "You Can't Even Talk About It"

It's a silly notion to only eat farmed stuff anyway. Wild animals don't cultivate their own food. They over-exhaust, they die of hunger. Humans have the benefit of having a very, very large and varied diet, where we don't have that issue. But we're also cognitive enough to realize when we're thinning numbers too much. It's why we have seasons on wild game, with regulations on how much or little is allowed to be hunted.

Wild will always taste better than farmed too.

LMFAO oh really? Sorry but you're blind if you think the Japanese fishermen who murder millions of sharks a year for a tasteless fin care about the ecosystem. Humans don't care about any living thing unless they think it *may* effect their standard of life in the future.

Seasons on wild game? Humans also ignore this and cheat their way around regulations to benefit themselves.

We aren't wild animals, the world would be better off if we weren't in it. We don't even need meat, I only eat it because i think it tastes good. Yes I've worked on a farm, I've killed cows/chickens/turkeys/pigs and you can't say wild tastes better unless you've had a wild cow. They taste better when they aren't pumped with hormones and when they eat what they would have in the wild, you just need to shop around and not buy the cheapest meat.

Plus by irradiating food we're like tripling our chances of creating a super hero!

Because Japan and those that break the law equals all of Humanity. Thanks for showing me the truth, Mirewen. I had no idea I was a lawbreaking Japanese man.

I can say wild tastes better when I've tasted the differences between wild and farm turkey, wild and farm seafoods. There are no wild cows anymore, bringing that up is moronic. Bison is pretty close to cow, and even farmed it tastes much better. I can imagine wild bison tastes better than that.

Irradiating food is just plain silly to get hysterical about. Everything is radioactive. It's only how much it's radioactive that dertimines how dangerous it is. If sliding a steak or egg underneath what amounts to a CRT television makes it safer to eat them on the lighter side of being cooked, go for it.

At one time, everything that is farmed was wild, if they have become extinct, who's fault is that?.. You sir are the one who is acting like a moron. Thanks for tossing out insults though. You stated that "we" as in humans (right?) are cognitive enough to realize we're thinning numbers? That is "moronic" because it isn't true. How many endangered species are still being hunted? How many animals go extinct every year because of "us"? I gave an example, if you can't think of any other examples that may pertain to this concept, then that is not my issue, it's yours.

So, how many animals do go extinct every year because of "us?" Is it larger or smaller than the animals that don't go extinct because "we" say "hey, these guys aren't as numerous as they used to be?" The fact that we do that has prevented thousands of species from taking a nose dive right off the planet. If Pandas are too fucking stupid to mate, they would've ended up in the same predicament regardless of Human activity.

You seem to be in the know, so tell us.

fyi, wild and farmed doesn't equal two different species. Farmed Cows and Wild Cows would still be just Cows. They've just been conditioned by free meals and protection from predators that prevents them from returning to the wild.

Do you not understand the concept of survival of the fittest? It is not our job to play God and decide which animals can or cannot live in the wild. If a species dies off because another species killed it off by no tampering of humans, then it was meant to die. If a species dies because another species killed it off as an adverse effect of human relations in the matter, we are responsible for that species' death even if we did not pull the trigger ourselves.

I'm not going to give an example because you obviously don't know what an example is and take it as the only instance.

Oh okay. I see. Tigers kill all the elk, "d'awwwwwwwwww how cute that elk are extinct because they fed the happy tigers." Humans kill all the tigers "FUCKING HUMANS LOOK WHAT YOU'RE DOING TO OUR WORLD!" Go away, hippy.

A good way to forfeit an argument is by not backing up your claims with examples btw.

I gave you an example, you obviously have memory issues, my example was met with;

Again, you obviously don't understand what the word example means because you take it as the only instance. Wow, I swear I said this in my last post. Comprehension problem much?

I'm not forfeiting anything just because one rager on a gaming forum is disagreeing with me. Nice and pompous of you though to think your ideals forfeit mine though.

And hippy? That's a new one. Only eating farmed animals because I don't want to deplete the world of animals that aren't being replaced because I think it's environmentally irresponsible. Yes, I may as well start making hemp chains and drinking soy milk right now because you've pigeon holed me.

I didn't ask for examples of humans thrashing an environment. I asked for examples of species that become officially extinct annually because of human activity, and if that number is larger or smaller than the number of animals that are saved from extinction annually because of human activity. Just because we don't force wild animals to mate/artificially inseminate all the famles doesn't mean we don't watch their numbers.

That's the thing, how are we to know we're "saving" the right species. Why the hell are we saving pandas? Really. What do they really do? I'm going to mention sharks again because their extinction would be disasterous. Sharks eat the fish that eat plankton/phytoplankton which is where the world gets a huge amount of its oxygen. Killing off sharks would cause these fish to flourish and destroy a majority of our oxygen supply. Yet we kill sharks and save pandas? Why? Are they cuter? Cuddly?

I know this is another example of over fishing, but it is an issue that needs attention. I get that you like wild animals, they are healthier to eat because they aren't pumped full of crap that farmed animals are. I just don't think that people in general care enough about the adverse effects that most of this hunting/fishing will do. I'm not saying you're being irresponsible, I'm saying it's a global problem.

Pregnant - I feel it should be kept as it is.

Radiation - Um, I don't feel I know enough about this subject to debate it lol.

Accidents - Don't agree with paying charges. It's going to be too shaky to find what is stupid and what was a genuine accident. Also, me and my friends go skiing and occasionally off track skiing once Evey 3 years ish. So it would be hypocritical for me to argue for this lol.

Animals - Is it our right to decide if an animal is 'marketable' I mean... There are not enough benefits to gain out of tiger 'juice' or whatever they called it.

Roids - Don't care

Old People - Well this doesn't really apply to my country. This is more an issue of a different country so I'll leave that for you guys to discuss.

Accidents

The problem lies in when and where you draw the line, which is where the issues come up. What is and isn't stupid, what isn't risky and what is just risky enough. To some people, ice fishing isn't that risky, to other people such as myself it's very risky. We've all been conditioned so much from modern society that it would seem barbaric to refuse service to someone who put themselves into a stupid situation and were hurt or endangered.

So what if he can't afford it, take out a loan, sell your car and start taking the God damn bus and while you're at it, thank your lucky stars we do live in a society that WILL save your ass. You don't want to make those sacrifices? That's fine to, you can die and maybe then realize you're a total fucknut.

Bottomline, is paying out of your pocket to save Joe Stupid who jumped off a cliff without proper training the same as paying out of your pocket to save the unfortunate who got into trouble through no fault of his own?

To me the answer is a resounding NO. How much did they say it cost them to rescue those people from the lake? Half a million bucks to save a bunch of dumbass recreational ice fishermen? Fuck them. Let them swim back or take a damn inflatable raft with you when you go.

You know this is what natural selection is SUPPOSED to do, weed out the complete fuck tards who should have died but we somehow manage to keep alive despite their profound lack of common sense.
Ok...I see your point, and I agree. Stupid people who get into trouble simply because they are stupid SHOULD have to pay. However, in the case of a total accident I still think the state should pay. This brings up the problem of how to determine how an accident was caused though. How is one to determine if an accident was caused by stupidity?

Animals - Some people (like Mirewen) are enviromentally conscience about the thinning of certain species. Some people (like the law breaking Japanese guys) don't give a flying fuck. To lump all of humanity into having one opinion is stupid, and neither of you are intending to do that. So stop arguing over semantics and get back to the fuckin issue.
