JP RDM Faust Solo -.-

This sort of daring and creativity should be encouraged. It pushes the boundaries of what we can do in FFXI, and everyone benefits in the end. As far as whether it's a glitch, I don't see any problems with it. In a game where mobs break all the rules, a very minor turnaround is fair play. The only people who should be resentful might be other redmages. I think that Avesta person who pulls all these sorts of crazy feats brought SE's eye on the job. Granted they aren't planning to bring out the nerf bat any time soon, but I do think the job might want to keep a low profile alongside blms, nins, wars and blus. In general, it's better not to have SE's attention on your job.

It's a glitch, if you stand at the back he thinks you're behind the teleport, and then if you take a step or so forward he thinks you're on the stairs. So when he goes to the stairs, go back to the first point, and he thinks you're behind it, so he runs towards the back again.

I've never done it, but people have told me about it.

It's not a glitch though. The mob just isn't smart enough to know that there's a better way to get to you. At no time is that RDM In a position that is unreachable by the mob (unlike the Wall of Justice, or the Cutscene trick).

It's exactly the same as Genbu...
I have been trying to get my linkshells to do this versus straight tanking Faust for a year and a half, but apparently most PLD are so dumb, it can't be done. Anyways, it is a glitch. You want proof? While your tank is on the telepad getting smacked by Faust, have him/her move around the back of the pad to the very corner and it will initiate the whole scenario of Faust moving down the steps and around the telepad. The mob has no reason to do that unless it thinks you are no longer on the telepad which WOULD be a glitch. Glitch aside, that has been around a long time and if Thamu has the skill to do it, then let him do it. If you were too late on claim, that's your own fault. Be faster next time and don't call a GM. Might as well just have the message say "Wah wah, I lost claim, hold my hand Mr. GM" because that's what the GM is going to think (and so is everyone else).

Faust is a robot and it has 3 Prime Directives:

1- Arrive Late
2- Spam Typhoon on american PTs
3- Let himself be "fooled" by JP RDMs

ps. I am certain of what the outcome would've been, had the roles been reversed (JPs watching an american RDM soloing Faust in that way).

I dont understand why people get up and arms about a rdm soloing a NM for Gods. Glitch or not that rdm still did an awesome job. I can recall a rdm in my god LS I run soloing Zip and was doing a pretty good job (until another LS came in to "Lag" him out -_- and preceded to try to tell me that we was stalling a mob because some of was in sky early and came to give him a hand). He has Duo'd Zip before ... just takes a lot of DoT spells, and I am sure that if we hadnt shown up and the other LS didnt lag him out he would have won easily (he died before we got there had him down quite a bit but lag got the best of him). I think its silly people get jealous because some people can do what it takes 18 people to do just because they actually know how to play their job -_-. This rdm solo's Despot too he is one bad ass crazy rdm :-) /cheer Limi/Lime!

Wait it wasn't limi/lime or are you just saying /cheer to rdms like him

2 years ago, I remember player getting "scolded" for a similar attempt at the boat in Siren Sands.

I applaud the RDM, but I'm worried about the GMs response (If it happened exactly as exposed).

ps. The GM call should never have been placed in the 1st place. After all, it's us against SE.

i was one of the people that was talking to the GMs about this situation not really cause i wanted the person to get banned or have the mob shown the way to the rdm but because i was hopeing that they would fix the problem so that the next time the pathing issues would be fixed.

This is the tell that i got from the GM

"Until the development team identifies this as a glitch this is to be considered a tactic and we applaud <rdm's name here>'s innovation. We will investigate this matter further."

But it was truely amazing to see and if we had a rdm in our LS that i think would have the balls to try it i think we would. The amazing thing about the fight was the fact that he/she only converted once and was only hit twice by typhoon from what i saw. The buffs that were used were Poison 2 bio 2 haste refresh stoneskin (not phalanx that i saw) and the occasional thunder 3 using ES whenever it was avail. Other than the fact that we coulda really used that faust ... i was excited in seeing something different.

Meh it's a glitch. It's a Glitch like sticking Genbu in the bush. Although sticking Genbu in the bush is quite hilarious to do and is tricky to get to go off. My shell did it back-to-back weeks and just laughed as everyone but me and the other paladin (Longarm) stood just far enough away for provoke to work and keep hate. That's as simple as what they did used a tatic that merits not taking damage which in turn means they don't wipe.

Because cheating is what winning is all about... There's something called good sportsmanship and sometimes just playing to win is lame. I commend the taru on the good job and he deserves some praise, but a glitch is still a glitch. I won't hold it against someone for using it and taking advantage of, but if the game wasn't meant to be played like that, I don't think he is that deserving. It's like AV and hiding behind the wall. If you take away the challenge, then there is nothing to be proud of and they are in fact the "scrub". Scrubs are the ones who talk big when they have done nothing, but weak accomplishments.

You heard it hear, folks. Abusing a bug is considered innovation until it gets fixed.

And Miya. "Glitch or not, that RDM did an awesome job."

El oh el. If it wasn't for the glitch, the only job he'd be getting done is dropping his EXP a bit.

Sadly, I can't use the GM's words against them. Because i don't have a pic of the quote and I would probably get banned
if I'm in a tight spot and bring that up... lol

Yeah, I've seen Thamu doing this before, like a month back.

He was also also helping RMT claim Ulli, and sadly paid the price as he aggroed a PH and the RMT booted him as a sign of gratitude.
