Little johnny just bought FFXI and has the choice to join two clubs of people. Club A is a group of highly skilled players, but these players are also crude individuals, and tend to act like elitist asses. Club B is a group of Just as skilled individuals, but they are supportive and patient with other people that may not be as experienced as they are with the game, such as little johhny is.

What if Little Johnny was someone who has only one objective: be better than everyone else? Then I'd know Little Johnny would go in a different direction. It's like asking if someone wants to go into Slitherith or Griffondor.

Really it's not that hard to just take responsibility for your own actions....if you know you'll need sneak, bring oils...if you know you'll need ivnis, bring powders.

Some people sit there and whine "I dont wanna spend 14k to travell when the mage can do it" yes well, do RNGs whine about money? Do Ninja's bitch at the PT about cash? And how about the mages, do they bitch at you about how much their spells cost? no...if you're a melee that doesnt' "need" to spend money each fight besides food, get with the program it costs gil to exp, be it gear, ammo, spells, or oils/powders.
It's not like you'll burn through a stack of either in one PT, unlesss you're travelling a whole lot....

that's what i'm saying, i DO buy oils and powders, but only when i go on missions and stuff that require them. i don't whine to the whm to sneak/invis me at all. i usually don't even encounter aggro when i pt, and i do agree that it costs money to exp, but i choose to spend it on things that i know i'll need to pt where i am. i buy armor, weapons, food, ammo to party. i'm sure somewhere along the way, yea, i may need to buy some stuff to avoid aggro at least until i get to know the area better and it's mobs

I dont know what level you are, nor am I calling you a n00b, nub, or any other insults, but there are places where just about everything will aggro you, and melee at 50+ shouldn't be relying on mages....If you ever go to PT in the Cape, or Valley of Sarrows, you need sneak in all of Kuftal, and sneak and invis in the cape....I had a SAM die on the way there...it was rediculous...esp since we were 58+.

I did not realize all melee are psychic and can forsee shitty partys before getting to camp and partying with them. Because in case you did not realize, you use these items before you find out if your party is shitty or not.

I play Ranger and Ninja, I spend in consumable in one day what your whole set of gear cost Im sure.....and you're whining about 14k to make sure your dumbass is safe? Maybe instead of whoring your way to 75 asap you should farm a bit more, so 14k on safety items doesn't seem like much at all, scrub.

I have well over 600k right now from farming. Again, what else do u want melee to bring to the table other than what we have? I'm a samurai, yet u assume i dont know shit about skillchains. wow, pretty hefty assumption there. i've been organizing skillchains in partys since i was a level 17 WARRIOR, BEFORE i got my samurai. DON'T call me a fucking scrub just because of your idiotic assumptions about how i play. oh, about the oils and powders, i don't use them, i haven't had to yet. my ls has many ppl at many different lvls who are melee, and NONE of them complain about aggro or "i wish i had bought those oils and powders". what DO they complain about u ask? high and mighty elitists like you who think that their word is the word of god and should b followed to a fault. oh, and syns example is fairly good. i have a group of highly skilled friends in my ls who help me with my missions when i need it, and there not elitist assholes like u, vang.

thanks for your input. that will help me once i go there. so, my thought was right after all, there WILL be a time when i need sneak. i don't rely on mages for anything other than nuking, healing, buffing (protect, regen, shell, basic buffs) and enfeebling. i don't rely on ppl to do stuff like that.

I agree with vang! I cast sneak and invis on you once after that your on your own! If you didn't bring any powders or oils your not only a dipshit your SOL cuz I woln't raise you when your dead! Oils and powders are part of comeing to a party prepared! If a mage can afford them on top of their gear food and spells, then so can a flipping mele!

Yeah, you've been ripped into enough for this, but let's give some specific examples:

1) We're at the secret room/rumbler room in Crawler's Nest, and you're a replacement. I'm apparently a 'lazy retard' for not wanting to walk all the way back (likely avoiding magic aggro from water/fire eles) and then babysitting you with sneak and invis all the way back to the party. You just cost the group a 5-10 minutes because you expect other people to take care of you.

2) Insert "Quicksand Caves," "Kuftal Tunnel," "Garlaige Citadel Basement" and countless other spots where you've got to cross half a zone to get to a decent leveling spot. Even in a group, telling two (sometimes one) mage to be responsible for both sneak AND invis for an entire party is a lot of wasted time. And it's ALWAYS the mage's fault if someone dies. Never mind that the melee decided to bolt off as soon as they've been cast on and have seperated themselves from the rest of the group. And OH NOS they're in a field of Robber Crabs and Sneak is wearing and what do I do why didn't you come with me to resneak this party sux /disband.

3) ANY QUEST OR MISSION. I've been to Fei'Yin for my AF2 and various other reasons, and I know (through research) that you need Sneak on the top floor and both in the basement - and there are quite a few magic aggros in the area. So, EVEN THOUGH I CAN CAST THE SPELLS, I had a stack of powder and oil with me at all times. The people that didn't were the 73WHM (only possible aggro were the weapons by the Cloister zone, I believe) and someone else. He died because his sneak wore in the middle of said weapons.

Plain and simple. post-50 there is no reason not to carry a stack of oil and powder on you. Really, it should be post-40, but I've lost a lot of faith in level = skill.

Because it's apparent you and Duff are the only ones to respond, Duff already admitted he has a new stance on these items, and I have a feeling you're a low level player. I think it's expected around 42 when partys travel to the secret room/rumbler room and on up that melee should have their own items to make it safe and sound. What level are you btw? You can get pissed all you want, it's irresponsible on your part to not have at least a stack of both on you at all times. These are not my opinions, these are FACTS.
