Kicking the gimp-equipped: am I an asshole?

Rajas Ring translates to 2 or 3 accuracy depending on if your DEX was odd or even without it. So it pretty much beats a Venerer Ring. Compared to Woodsman/Sniper (or better stuff) for TP gear, well that's rather more debateable.

Generally the best solution is *not* to TP in Rajas, though if you can switch to one without suffering any parseable or noticeable loss of acc, you might as well. Little more STR/attack, DEX for crits, store TP, and subtle blow never hurt. Won't help *hugely* either, so if there's actually a noticeable acc difference, stick with acc rings.

Go ahead and WS (or for the BLUs out there, cast physical spells) in one though.

i've yet to have to boot someone cause of what they had on. the one time i almost did would have been a big mistake cause the guy made up for it by playing his job's strengths better then anyone i've seen in a long time.

Another way of putting this would be, "Were they gimp, or did you just think they were?" If it's a job you understand well, then you can certainly tell just by looking at the gear. However, if it's something you've never played, it could be an acceptable gear set up (maybe not the ideal gear set that everyone is aware of, but a more obtainable and still functional set).

Finally, did you ask if s/he had other rings? (Assuming that was the issue based upon your initial post.) As THF, I have 2-4 pieces of gear for every single slot. Just because I'm running around wearing Merman's Gloves doesn't mean I'm going to be meleeing in them. I have Dusk Gloves for that. I have a pair of Sniper's as well, but rarely wear them running around. And as someone else mentioned, if your hit % is fine with out it then why would you wear a Sniper's Ring? Five more Acc than you need does you no good.

fyi i was messing with neo. :P

i would TP in a rajas ring. its an excelent ring no matter how you slice it. and with the plethora of othe racc gear we wear on a reguler basis it wont kill you to swap it out from 1 snipers or woodsman. besides you wennt through hell to get that thing, wear it and wear it proudly.

Don't TP in Rajas please. Unless you are SAM with plenty of accuracy. Then the +Store TP doesn't completely blow.

well dumb question about the rajas (before you kick this gimp)

what about the subtle blow? esp for 2handed jobs for tp?

Cry for attention much? What are you doing examining your party members while they're TP'ing instead of doing your job?

was it you?

no mention they were even fighting in the OP :spiteful:

When I kick someone because their gear is below my standards (not mediocre, but just awful) am I being a dick, or am I justified?

I'm talking a 75 without acc rings, or something along those lines.
Coming from someone who's BB mnk uses diabolos' / minuet(?) earrings, pln body, chiv chain, fumas, and vendor's slops... this is all incredibly ironic.

If you kicked them just by what gear they had on then I say yes :(. I use some crappy stuff on war and still do better then most other dd's in the pt. Also are you sure this person was even in exp gear? Many people lounge around in w/e gear in town and switch during exp.

Don't think the Subtle Blow will do much since all the melees hitting will put the mob well above 100TP before it gets a WS off...may help a slight bit soloing, but that's about it.

The Store TP is considerably more useful, but then the best it'd do is make you WS one swing faster, which is very rarely a major importance (unless you're really anal about that kinda stuff)

If you know its crappy, then why don't you upgrade?

Not all mobs require ACC rings, fyi >.>; You can get away w/ sporting STR rings on alot of merit type mobs, especially if you have a bard.

I'm talking a monk wearing a bomb queen ring, actually.

Its crappy by me, its average gear otherwise. Rdm is my main job, which means 90% of gil and time goes to rdm before nin and war. I could get better, but for jobs I hardly use use theres no point.

edit : To clarify, I try to keep a balance on nin and war, as far as gear. Not the best and not the worst , but lets me keep some gil for events or w/e and more item space for low lvl jobs/swap gears.

MNK/DRK with Faiths? Souleater, rarr...

Really though, while it's a little hard to get the higher-quality gear (snipers and Haub are both a little pricy), there's still alternatives that can be obtained that aren't all that much worse - Venerer Ring is 2 less acc, Vision Ring is 2.5 less acc (2 less if you have odd-numbered DEX, making it in theory very slightly better than Venerer) - And while I highly prefer a Hauby, Jaridah Peti isn't at all expensive, and at least gives a decent amount of acc/att.

Beyond that...most standard gear (NQ staves, any hairpins or gloves) just aren't expensive. I think it's OK if some up-and-coming players don't have some of the more 'major' gear, since there's cheaper versions that are only very slightly worse, but that's just me. However I don't think it's OK for them to not have stuff that's both good AND cheap, i.e. RK Mufflers and RK Collar (if Chiva Chain is somehow out of their reach - but if this is the case they should really plan some way to make money =/)

And something useless like a BQ Ring...yeah, I'd ask em to fix it first but I must admit I'd likely boot them too, if they weren't willing to fix that. If they're wearing something that doesn't help them do their job then it's like they're not wearing anything in that slot at all.

If players aren't going to take time to gear up and play there job combination correctly. Then you shouldn't have to waste your time partying with them.

It really isn't. I'm talking about not having basic gear: acc rings, at least SH, etc. You're saying I'm gimp for not having haidate, brutal earring, PCC, etc...not the same at all. Way to give me no credit for BB either, by the way.

Right, because it's totally impossible to be able to do both at once. Especially if the OP was on his mnk! Wow, I cannot possibly see how he could type /c in between all the busy auto-attacking!

Ok my questions then are : was this person wearing the same said gear during pulls and what if said person doesn't need the same acc gear as the next? Just an out there example : if my acc is 90% with no sh/rings, you would boot me cause I do not have those items? Maybe I swap acc gear in and out with att/str gear or w/e.
