Lame. As. Shit.

Also, Talisman is totally a SCH af body with a longer tail.

Did people just forget that its not illegal for them to sell their own product for real money, but its illegal for others to sell a product owned by SE without giving SE a cut. There is a pretty massive difference between what SE is doing and RMT, the bannable offense.

People take the term "RMT" too literally. "OMG GUYS YOU ARE TRADING MONEY FOR AN ITEM THATS T'ING WITH RM!" Name an mmorpg that's lasted as long as this one that doesn't do something like this? WoW sells trading cards that have item codes. Too many mmos to count have special items you can only buy. This isn't a new concept or exclusive to FFXI in any way, shape, form, or idea.

Its like buying an extra character to use as a mule off SE, costs you $1 its a service they offer much like this pendant thingy, you dont have to buy it to enrich your gaming experiemce.

I must stress how little the whole thing bothers me, I just found it rather amusing that SE were handing out codes for items to people who bought things in their online store or however it's done. It's nothing like the same as RMTs, buying gil, or anything else of that sort. I just felt like pointing out the similarities between the cardinal sin in ffxi and SE's latest marketing venture.

Incidentally, if I were interested in collectables of this type, I'd have no issue buying said item or taking the code and receiving the in-game item either. I don't want people to think I'm saying "Anyone who bought this item is an RMT", it was merely a slightly humerous jab at SE :P. Apologies if anyone was offended

Probably.

And the good thing about FFXI's bought items, they aren't items that make a real differnce. Imagine if the only way to get a Ridill was to order a replica for 300$

Coming soon to the SE Store.

Tagline: "never camp an HNM again!"

Where is this!?!?!?!?! I CANT FIND IT.... MUST HAVE EXPENSIVE EFFORTLESS RIDILL!!!!!

Joking aside, I bought 2 of these for my GF's kids, they love talisman type jewelery and are big fans of the FF series, as much as the actual quality of the item is complete crap, the gift itself will be a big hit and makes it totally worth it, and they deserve it.

Getting a free way to jeuno every 40 hours is a small bonus, maybe ill put it on a mule.

Only usefull part of this is using it for mules.

And I can sure as hell get a mule to jueno, complete enough missions for airship quest in the 3.125 months ($50/$16 for monthly membership) than spending the $50 for the stupid necklace

A lot of the WoW TGC Loot card items don't make a difference either. You've got a couple that are pretty nice and do affect gameplay, like the goblin rocket mounts. But then you've got what boils down to joke items, like the goblin weather machine that makes a random weather cloud above your characters head and the pet biscuits that make a non-combat pet bigger.

But then again, if you're buying WoW TCG cards for in game items, you're doing it wrong.

On another point...

Se doesn't have GMs camping our NMs, fishbotting, and super synthing in order to sell us these items.

RMTs screw up the economy, make it much harder for the average joe to get his item he wants cause they're cheating.

SE on the other hand is entitled to sell us this talisman.

#1 it is not obtainable either way, you can't farm/synth/buy it, so it doesn't !@## up the economy.

#2 the 50$ was spent on the necklace, the in game item is just a bonus. It's not RMT, it's called "customer appreciation". Paying 50$ for ther sole purpose of obtaining a couple 0s and 1s is retarded.

#3 This item will not "enhance" your character. It doesnt give att +20, movement speed increase, or any stat mods. It teleports you gfrom one city to another, and looks kinda cool. The moogle cap does the same damn thing, but this one is more versatile.

And finally #4,Aside from messing up the economy, dominating NMs, and flooding the market with items thus lowering their value, the fact that a person with some extra money IRL being able to spend it and suddenly be able to simply buy all their nice gear insteand of work for it, is even worse.

It's SE's servers, so other people making money off their own hard work, and screwing the whole system up for everyone lse, thus making them lose customers/money, is very very wrong.

Thus, an RMT camping an NM to sell it's drops and flood the market with them, then selling 30 million gil to a rich dude so he can take the easy way from the game, is entirly different from SE, the owners of the game, tossing in a free peice of gear with a time saving, once every three day teleport, in game item, that can be neither sold for profit, or be abused, with a peice of jewelery they've released to collectors.

/rant ^_^;

once every three day teleport
40 hours = just over a Day and a half.

This nitpicking moment brought to you by Tristam Green.

In a way everyone besides crafters should be thankful for the rmt of the past or else would still be paying 4mil for SH etc and the majority of people would be gimper than normal

Except the majority of the population of ffxi have attempted, or would like to attempt, to level a craft.

=/

Still plenty money to make on crafts reguardless, can make 1M a week with alchemy doing simple synths, tedious of course...unlike before...just little harder to get the items off AH cause never on the AH/no one makes them anymore.

Just not as much as before, can get steady income with a craft, but going to take you forever to regain what you spent to lvl the craft now.

Anymore need multiple crafts to work together to make gil, otherwise single craft items kinda sucks...need to make one thing with 1 craft trade over to antoher character to synth it into something else and blah blah blah
