Lead hacker admits to killing the game

The game is not dead. Far from it, in fact. There may still be RMT, hell, there will always be some amount of RMT. However, it's truly laughable to assume that SEI has done nothing about it. They brought you a special task force, to massively ban accounts that do not stick to fair play, or compromise the integrity of a video game. They want to protect their business like any other company out there offering services to any kind of customer. Keeping it as legit as possible not only keeps the current player base active, but functioning. Cheats will always be around, that's a fact no one can avoid. Where new protection is set up, a new way to tear it down surfaces. It's the way it works.

This "Haxxor" guy, who "admits" to killing the game, did nothing more than set a ball in motion faster than originally intended. If he hadn't "made" some cheats for the game, someone else would have. People would have still used them without initial fear of repercussion. They aren't necessary to play, so most don't, I imagine. Look at the dwindling number of offenses each month (most notably those that enhance character movement or claim stuff). If that doesn't tell you something is being done, I dunno what else does. The fact that RMT are turning to mass fishing is a bit annoying, but that will be handled in time too. Honestly, watching the market right now, it's not the RMT fucking the fishing economy (to any fisher out there screaming WTF?!!? over stupid undercuts from day to day), it's the idiots that catch a few stacks of fish and want them to sell NOWNOWNOW. That's always going to happen too though, so nothing to really complain about there.

I've gone on long enough, carry on.

this just in:

being a script kiddie does not a hacker make.

this

he isn't really even a hacker

yeah, he made tools to exploit the game, that's not hacking, thats just manipulation of the server and pc-side clients

break into their server farm and edit everyones levels to 255, then he's a hacker.

this guy is just an egotistical moron that thinks he was controlling the game's population single handedly

Wait a second. this game i've been enjoying all this time got ruined? why didnt somone tell me?

This hacking thing infuriates me, because there are legit players like me that have been fighting all this years hackers and RMT for NM claims. But whatever, both groups should be ashamed because we have claimed shit with <Stone>.

My name is HaxXxoR. I own a few websites you’ve probably never heard of and spend a lot of time thinking of what to do do these websites to drive traffic to them. Well, I’ve decided to stop. The websites take up too much of my time and I’ve pretty much lost my creative streak.

Never heard of you.

When I first decided to start :Site edited out: I was really big into Final Fantasy Online and wanted to get an edge on the competition and open up the world of MMO Hacking to a greater audience. Final Fantasy was (and still is) full of Real Money Traders (RMT) that monopolize valuable aspects of the game. This makes it extremely hard for normal players to advance, so we decided to introduce the normal players to the tools of the RMT.

I'd say this made it easy for newbs to get access to good buyable items.

Anyone find it funny that cheaters justify their cheats as a way for normal player to have equal chances ? ...

Unfortunately, I think myself and my colleagues may have killed the game. We had over 2,000 members register the first month the website was up. When we decided to delete non-posting members (leechers), we had another 1,000 register almost immediately. That looks like only 3,000 members had access to the tools we were providing… and you may say, “How would 3,000 members hurt a community that houses hundreds of thousands of players?” but what you have to consider is that each of those members possibly passed that program on to another who then passed it on to another and so on. Before long you couldn’t do anything. Everyone was hacking the game. There was finally a level playing field…. of sorts.

I've never personnally seen using tools like pos-warp or flee-hacks. I'm thinking *everyone* here refers to a certain class of endgame players.

Square-Enix (SE) decided it was time to take action. They created a special task force (which I don’t think has done anything) and starting banning accounts. Unfortunately, SE was banning legitimate players as well as the hackers. The one thing that SE never did, that I believe would save the game, is ban the RMT.

I finally got fed up with SE, the RMT, and just the game in general and quit. I quit :Site removed:, I quit Final Fantasy Online, and I quit providing hacking tools.

So… here I am. Time to try my hand at writing.

That’s all for now, but there will be more.

Sorry but everyone has been feeling the effects of the STF for 1 year+. For instance orichalcum ore was 700 k 1 year ago and now it's .. 50K.

Like Tymon said.

rofl. Crock of shit. Etc.

Then I could simply say "Hey GM this character 'JoerandomAHnub' is RMT because his gear sucks",

When you're in Kazham and the WHOLE party has shitty gear...uhh it's a 'duh' situation then.

This guy thinks he is some sort of god or something for making some exploits in the game. Now he goes on this emo rant about how FFXI sucks and he hates SE and gil sellers, and talks about the Special Task Force being useless. He really has no idea what he is talking about, or maybe he's a whiny little bitch because his hacks will get him banned now. Hey Chasym, maybe you and him can get together and have whiny little hacker babies.

Nobody cares about this hacker guy with his head up his ass. Lets just have a thread about Kage where he owns everybody repeatedly for our amusement. (In all seriousness, can we please have that?)

Well, if your gear sucks, then you should be banned.

GO hard, or don't bother showing up.

Whenever I think of the future of FFXI with hacks, I remember what PSO turned into when everyone was carrying Spread Needles +99 and more...

I am SO glad that FFXI is not like this. I played PSO before I got into FFXI and the hacking in that game was just sad. Sonic Team truly didn't give a damn. :nono:

the guy that hacked 9 accounts for the fuck of it is more interesting. AND he didnt blog it.

Yea sorry about that also on the gamecube version. Soulja224466 and me thought the 3 other members of our group wouldn't share the exploit to the active memory on GCN. Behold 2 weeks later, infamous guild popped up from our 3 members backstabbing us...Pirating disks occurred and GCN PSO servers went down in a short 1.5 years following... 2 years faster then Dreamcast PSO.

Sonic Team didn't give a dam cause they couldn't do much to stop it, they made the data client side, levels, gear, etc.

At least SE did it a tad smarter and is trying to fix things from time to time. But sometimes it just feels like they slap a piece of Duct-tape on it and Say FIXED IT!!!

I think this "Lead Hacker" has been smelling his/her farts too long. This person didn't invent the A-Bomb, and to hear their remorse is laughable. And what kind on name is HaxXxor anyway? Street cred -5.

If you're really sorry, you'll get me pr0n passwords. Then all is forgiven for what little you've done.

Well, this is officially my first entry into my blog. I’m completely new to this and this is my first time even thinking of writing my own blog.

My name is Karl. I am what you would call a thinker. Well, I’ve decided to stop. The thoughts and associated writings take up too much of my time and I’ve pretty much lost my creative streak.

When I first decided to start writing I was really big into an ideal society called "utopia" and wanted to get an edge on the competition and open up the world of sharing resources amongst the dregs of society to a greater audience. Capitalist societies are full of moneymongers that monopolize valuable aspects of their respective economies. This makes it extremely hard for the workers to advance, so we decided to introduce the the idea of communism to the people.

Unfortunately, I think myself and my colleagues may have killed the late 1940s-early 1990s. The largest nation on earth subscribed to my ideologies within 50 years of my first publication. When they decided to purge those who opposed the ideals (leechers), the rest of the nation came over almost immediately. That looks like only one nation had access to the ideals I had provided… and you may say, “How would a single nation hurt a community that houses hundreds of millions of people?” but what you have to consider is that nation possibly passed their version of my ideals on to another who then passed it on to another and so on. Before long you couldn’t do anything. Everyone was Communist (just ask Joe McCarthy). There was finally a level playing field…. of sorts.

...blah blah blah it's all my fault, sorry.

So… here I am. Time to try my hand at writing.
