As there is only a few weeks till the littlebig release of littlebigplanet (Couldn't resist) I thought maybe we could have a pre-release thread to chat about the beta, the gameplay, the humour and general goodness that this game has to offer =D

I just pre-ordered LBP today from play.com which offered a free Nariko Sackgirl code and I picked up a copy of the official PlayStation Magazine UK today which has a Kratos sackboy code =3

I'm hoping that the Sackboy toys that they offered when people subscribe to them aren't out of stock so tomorrow I'm gonna inquire =D

I have been checking out the beta footage on gametrailers today and I must say I am even more impressed than before, I'm pleased at how MM have created this game.

So, anyone else looking forward to this then? ;3

You bet, this game looks like a blast to play. I've been watching it over time and it's development and I have to say, it looks fantastic.

I pre-ordered it myself last night while picking up a few other things, got my Kratos code as well. Not much longer now :D

I'm planning on picking it up too, missed out on my chance to get the sackboy model from Heavenly Sword though ;_; the design behind it looks fantastic! A bit smoother than the Kratos one (texture wise anyway) and the game just looks damn cool :) I'm happier every month that I bought a PS3 as my first nextgen console XD

I can't wait :D Been waiting for a long time!

I'm actually going to say that I need to play a demo of it before I decide. I am already sick of Sackboy, as a mascot.

Not looking forward to it. I don't think it looks fun, but thats just my opinion.

I don't understand the appeal of this game at all either.

Well, the appeal is its Playstation's version of what Mario is to Nintendo, it has endless creativity for the custom levels and stickers (Thanks to the use of the playstation eye), and it has a cute loveable mascot.

The amount of creativity involved is like playing with Lego bricks, you can come up with anything, like that user created Shadow of the Colossus tribute level.

Yeah but you get something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ru4b6wegupc

Why wouldn't I just go play Super mario? Ok the graphics might not be as good but the levels will be more in-depth and I won't have to spend a shit load of time to make em. I guess if you're really into making shit it could be fun, for me though it just doesn't have an appeal.

I feel the same way... This is not for me. I see absolutley nothing great about LBP. Sorry.

Give it a chance is all I say. It's a 2D platforming game where you can build your own levels, and play with 4 people online or offline. It has the most lifelike graphics out there. If you like 2D platformers, I don't know how you could ask for much more.

It's possible the game is no fun at all with it actually in your hands, but that's possible for all games. Happened to me with Mass Effect, even though on paper it seemed like a great game.

The game has been getting some good reviews from the beta testers. Lots of pages filled with players impressions about the game. So far i gather LBP is not designed for casual gamers. For the gamers that did spend time with it, most of them think the beta alone surpassed their wildest expectations on the most part. Few of them think the graphics never met their expectations on occasion.

Aside from the creation mode, playing the game does require a little bit of a learning curve. After gaining a little skill with the game play, the beta testers pretty much praise LBP's fun factor.

I won't even bother ordering LBP in advance. I think there will be a lot of them to go around so I'll just walk into one of the local game shops and pick up a copy. I hope i don't like it too much though, I hardly have any leisure time these days.

Maybe LBP will restore my interest in video games.

It's stuff like this that amazes me what people can do with this game, and it's not even out yet

Edit: Which apparently crashed due to it's awesomeness, check back later
Edit 2: back up!

It looks entertaining and adorable, and I'll get a copy. The Space Invaders level I saw in the "1Up Show" preview was amazing, and if that's just a sample of what's possible without having the full design tools at your disposal... I'm sold.

I'm also thinking it'll be a fun game for my nieces and nephews. They had a blast with the level editor for Smash Bros. on the Wii, so this will probably be a huge hit with them.

These type of games just aren't for me. I would play it for 2 days, then get bored with it and go back to a story driven game or one with very nice online play lol.
