Looks like Peregrine was right. Blm nerf.

True, there's no official information yet, so everyone could be jumping the gun. The BLM nerf was announced a year ago though in an interview with SE, so that's one thing that's going to happen eventually. Most of that discussion is the blm's lashing out to monk and warrior cannons and people telling them how exp situations don't matter.

Why does everyone focus on monks can go to KRT can get great exp as a reason for nerfing them? It's just stupid to me, and people are obviously not reading what's been said for 5 pages now. The behavior in exp isn't the issue that SE wants to address, so drop the subject already. Hell, KRT is just making up for the utter shit invite rate that monks have to go through before 60. Monk exp cannons aren't an issue worth addressing. Until people just start throwing monks at a endgame fight, monk won't be nerfed again, because there's NO reason to do so. Stop crying because your job has been abused to hell and there's a fix coming, so you're lashing out at another job that has nothing to fix.

because skaw is throwing knives at my job thats why. BLM is still one of my favorite jobs to play and he's belittling it because we MANABURN ONE FUCKING MISSION!! Your bitching about the time it takes to get the 60monk but you make that much and more in KRT over a blm cannon. I dont see why anyone needs to nit and pick at others about their jobs and what they are doing. If you dont like it dont do it, SKAW finished DM a LONG FUCKING TIME AGO i'm sure how is it effecting him? are people still geting it done that need it? are people still helping others that need it?

Quit lashing out at us and ill quit lashing out at you. I dont run around saying were the uber 1337 you can do it without us, all i'm saying is give us a lil respect and quit stomping on is like were dirt.

There was a source, but even that was just some dude at the convention and these are his notes. You can find the link on page 3 or 4 I think. I was thinking the same thing you are when I first saw this, and am prolly gonna wait for an official release on this info before I start to take it too seriously.

I never said I hated SMN did I? I said it was hard, which was 99% of it's charm for me. I didn't play SMN to JUST GET MY 70 Bood pacts. Hell the job I took up after smn was WHM. I play WHM to get a break from SMN when I'm getting too frustratedb, but SMN is still my passion. Talk to anyone that's spoke with me and ask them how much I love my job JUST THE WAY IT IS. Watching you call for a Nerf for the last 5 levels of a pretty hard job to get to 70 in the first place is pretty infuriating though. Don't take PLD parites? Yeah right, First thing first - the only reason I'm getting an invite is because there are no WHM seeking. I don't play with the PLD, I don't play at all - plain and simple.

And don't be knocking Astral Bun, most times there's like 4 people in the shell (unless we're doing YYR or something) and not all of them are 70+....Yeah we're really going to be dominating those End game activities in no time... /roll

No, no, no, I'm not talking about the reasoning behind the tweak.

I'm saying, logistically, it doesn't make any sense.

The Ranger tweak was reasonable and it made sense - for example, if you're shooting a bow, an optimal arc will increase the power of the arrow/bolt's impact and piercing.
For damage yes, for accuracy no. Anyone skilled with a bow/xbow/gun missing a stationary (or moving for that matter) target at less than 30 meters should be shot themselves.

You want something that makes sense? Magic doesn't exist, you can't tweak your fingers and make lightning strike an enemy. Remove all magic, that's logical, and makes sense. When you die, you're dead, no raise, no return to hp, game over forever. That makes sense too.

yeah were really dominating them end game activites of DM every 3-4months /roll

I didn't say I had a beef with blm did I? I have a beef with people who want to take everyone down with them. If you truly love your job you'll deal with all of the adds/nerfs that come along with it. Nothing pleases me more than seeing true BSTs leveling in the tree and inviting a rng, and yes - watching that rng pull hate with absolutely no problem.

TarutaruBLM LS.... nuff said. BLM is overpowered out of PT situations, and even then it took them what? 2 months to get 14 characters to 75 on BLM, beat CoP, beat RoZ, all get rank 10? I understand that they could be on 24/7, but 2 months is still kinda low considering they're all BLMs.

Well baja, it seems to me alot of people want blm nerfed b/c its easier for manaburn to get things done quickly(regardless of the task). So why not nerf anything that may be easy and/or quick to level the playing feild? (yes, there is much sarcasm here as i do not think ANY job should be nerfed). Lets make the game as least fun for particular jobs as we can. How about nerfing chi blast since its so strong? and yes, krt roaming pts since thats entirely too much xp/hour. Its not fair to whoever for whatever reason that you guys can get such good xp, while I as a pld or blm will have to pt with other jobs that arent as uber.
No, people want blm nerfed because they make endgame trivial, and because they isolate non-blm's out of some events. While technically, yes, you can do DM without blm's, it takes a very long time to get people for it, and you actually have to put some effort into the fight. Make a strategy, keep everyone alive for the fight, work on killing each AA individually; that's what SE wanted people to do, not just show up, cast a spell and win. The blm-only method exludes other jobs from being able to try, and since a lot of people only want to do it via manaburning, it makes it that much harder for non-blm's to get things done.

Again, exp is irrelevant in terms of nerfing, although I am glad someone(you, specifically) finally brought up something other than monk cannon's exp rates. Chi Blast is strong, but it also has a limiting factor in that we can only do it every 3 minutes, and that we have to constantly boost to get it that strong. There's also a limit in that Chi Blast can be resisted significantly. A monk can't just toss out a ton of Chi Blasts all at once or keep using them to "nuke" down whatever they're fighting, so we're already fairly balanced for endgame fights. During those 3 minutes we're cooling down Chi Blast, the NM is healing their hp so you can't just mass Chi Blast a win.

I dont hate smn's i'm just making refrence. I rescepct smn's its not a job i enjoy in any way at all. I'm just saying all this finger pointing at blms saying "they did it" isn't cool when others are doing the same shit different event.

It will be interesting if they do nerf though to see how things turn out. Considering i dont do many things with lots of blms and am usually running around by my lonesome doing things for myself and others then it probably wont have to much effect on me if the nerf is for a group of blms.

I've also only cannon'd 3 times as blm in the 5 months i've been at 75.

No, he's backing the nerf that SE already announced was going to happen. You're trying to get the nerfstick to focus on a job that doesn't need nerfing, and only because they have 1 spot in the entire game where they get great exp, and it's only at the last few levels of the game.

The problem isn't that "if you don't like manaburn, don't do it," it's that it's now very difficult to get things done without them because everyone wants the manaburn now.

war

try to expand weapon use
try to encourage wars to use other sj beside /nin
ability to throw axes

mnk

change so monk is not just punching - something else to help the party
new ability to boost other PT members HP

whm

traditionally healer, but other mages have taken over healing; trying to give whm more advantage as healer
thinking of other ways to involve whm in front line
new abiltiy to give HP or MP to other PT members
also ability to cure all bad status at the same time

blm

acknowledged one of the most powerful
acknowledged that 6 blm can pwn, but not necessary how they envisioned it
try to make it so they play in regular parties more
but giving them more spells to "compensate" so it doesn't seem they are picking on blm

rdm

acknowleged very powerful also along with blm
new spells for rdm

thf

one of the most technical, ie running back and forth
trying to add abilities so that the thf abilities are distributed among the PT
steal might change so that it's not just stealing items
perfect dodge change it in battle so that it will increase the damage attacking from behind

pld

acknowledge that pld might take second seat to nin, make more appealing for pld to be first choice for tanking
auto-refresh
making ability to use shield more ofthen that other jobs (blocking)
more TP gained from shield block

drk

like for drk to use scythe more often, adding more benefits to use scythe
not many ppl are using absorb spell, adjust so that there is more reason to use absorbs

bst

recognized lots of ppl have been complaining about last patch
reason they believe that bst is a strong job, but don't want to completely undo changes so they will look to do "something"

brd

seems to play same songs all the time, change it so there are more places for them to use other songs
a new low level song to increase speed of all the party

rng

thinking on a way to give rng more damage from last patch
maybe fix sharpshot so that acc won't change depending on distance
also increase more types of arrows in quivers

sam

like to change it so sam can use their TP in more different ways
new ability to decrease enemy's TP when hitting them

nin

"the ninja is very strong"
not going to make nin any weaker
most difficult thing, need more time to think of what to do

drg

no plans to change anything, still evaluating impact of lastest changes

smn

alot of smn will only summon avatars when they need certain spell and then release
would like to have players keep them out longer so thinking of more benefits
change so that duration and effect of avatar buffs are calculated based on summoning skill
increase more abilities for the avatars
currently no plans for summoning bahamut; reason is they want to keep him as a "special" type of avatar
if they made him summonable, they'd have to weaken him and they don't want to do that
more summonable avatars

bluemage

acquistion - only new spells if blue mage is main job
- to obtain new spell have to defeat monster that using that spell
- only able to learn spell only if within a certain level from the monster
- only learn spells from monsters that give xp
- no learning spell if dead
- can't learn every ability from monsters, but will have an inital amount with updates opening up more abilities
setting spells
- after learning ability from monster, have to set it
- each spell will have a certain amount of setup points and blue mage will have a certain number of setup points
- can only set spells limited to setup points and max number can set per level
- all blue magic will depend on monster learned from and monster cast on; mob vs mob weakness will affect acc and strength
- can be used in skillchains and magic bursts

corsair

information
- a random effect based on numbers will affect monsters
- drawing cards; after drawing one card you can use another on top of the other
- if you add up to 11 you get best effec
- if you go over, you bust and might get negative effect
effects
- depends on other jobs in the PT, ie WAR double attack bonus, BLM magic attack bonus
- card shot, one of 8 types of card used with gun will change the attack of gun to a magic attack
- can strengthen debuffs like dia
- ability to lower recast time of spells

/orgasm

The only thing SMN is overpowered at is their ability on Wyrms because of something quite simply really. They don't accumulate the hate of their avatars while BLMs will accumulate hate from nuking. So when it's a 3 hour fight that's a huge difference. I'm not advocating any SMN nerf, I'm leveling SMN myself for this main reason. But if squaresoft was in the mood to nerf everything so all jobs are useful for all fights(stupid), then I'd say over time let the avatar hate sink to the summoner or something stupid like that.

Or people can accept that all jobs have certain advantages, spread over different mobs, fights and level ranges and stop with this nerf crap.

Na blm is not suppose to be stronger than melee just because they use magic.Don't forget blm doesn't give tp to mob like other melee do.Reason 2handers are sometimes a better chouce than duel wielding fast hitting daggers.

People fight Wyrms with SMN as their DD of choice usually. They won't take AA damage from the wings, and if they get a hit from it they have stoneskin. They do big damage consistantly and they don't draw hate and risk spike flail. And so LS will typically throw as many SMN as they can at the fight.

So yes, SMNs are in the same role as BLM in that case, people stacking one job because it is the best job for the situation. The problem is that the fight is made so difficult, and the conditions for victory are so stringent, that there is no other choice. The thing to do would be allow for other jobs to have more use at these specific fights. What people fail to realize, is that when they create the fight so 6 DD are useless, the other DDs are then more useful. What choice do we have? We want to win.

damn u for faulting my chi blast logic XD.

but back on topic. so its the DM that is bugging everyone. Ok, fine, blm is trivializing this mission... so what? They want to burn it, fine let them burn it. My point is this. If they nerf the blm ability to manaburn, people are still going to have to make up a non blm alliance to do the fight. It is still going to take a long time to set up. So instead of everyone complaining that blm doing dm is too strong, just start setting up alliances that you are going to have to set up anyway after this nerf. A DM manaburn pt doesnt hurt anyone at all. It doesnt hurt the economy, it doesnt give gil, its just people progressing the story line (and to finish zm, your gonna need a different pt set up anyway). I think the real problem is that alot of the pro nerf people want to be the 1-2 non blm job in the DM manaburn alliance, and when they dont get in, they are pissed. It is a terrible terrible idea to nerf a whole job just because it contains a few advantages in certain situations.

As for nerfing the operation desert storm.. well, lets see.. blm have a tough time farming as it is, especially after the -aga nerf. Now, SE wants to take away a good source of income for blm.

And another thing (not u baja, in general), people are making it sound like all blm are snobs. Guess what, we arent (shock). I do ks30 runs for my ls.... for free (wth is wrong with me). I dont even do manaburns except in ks 30. Its a quick and easy source of items and gil. Everyone is hating on blm b/c they can do a few things, but believe me, there are alot of things blm need help on.

God forbid that one job is better for one fight than another. Do away with all jobs completely, and make us all Rdm's. We can cure ok, we can nuke ok, we can melee ok. No imbalance at all.

lol since when? Kill shot and hate control 4tw. That just sounds like an excuse.

And you guys are freaking out way too damn much. Just wait and see at least before you go freaking out about the nerf. They didn't even say how blm would be nerfed.

What would be so bad about lowering un-MBed spell DMG vs. MBed spells? Would just make it more of a group effort, and add some more organization to big fights, and reduce the amount of staight of spamming/manaburning shit, but still make BLM very useful. But meh, dunno if SE is that smart or not.
