Looks like Peregrine was right. Blm nerf.

ps - Is there even the slightest amount of SE backing for these RUMORS about job changes? This was some guy's notes from talking to people at the festival, and I didn't see mention of even who he talked to. It could be some random nut in the parking lot for all we know.
It was the guys notes from the Developers pannel at the fanfest, not random people.

It's their business when they can't get people to do these missions normally. I've said this before several times, it's a pain in the ass trying to get people for it, because people can manaburn it easy they don't want to do it the hard way. When people are turned down because they aren't one of the "in" jobs, then there's an imbalance that should be fixed. That's where people have a problem, that's where you interfere with other's gameplay.

I'm not upset that blm can do what I can't. If I wanted to do what blm does, I'd level blm; but I didn't like the job and I prefered other roles. Not everyone likes blm, and not everyone is a bandwagon rider. Your attitude is practically, "level blm and then you can join in too, until then who cares?" In no way is it right to pretty much force someone to level a job they don't want to level just so they can get something done that they could do on another job they already have leveled.

And then it's my business when you MNKs to bone cannons. Fuck ya'll for exping faster than me. I feel FORCED to level another job for the best merit exp!!!

In all seriousness, I never knew real merit exp until I used my ninja to cannon up in sky getting huge chains nonstop. BLM really cannot do that. Not 1 blm can join those parties, and BLM cannons can't do that. So either justice is to nerf every job in every aspect of the game til everyone is equal, or just allow for certain areas that 1 job will excell in under the realization that they aren't the best in all areas.

And for all those people who talk about how they play BLM for the enjoyment of playing BLM. And how they want the "bandwagoners" to get out.

I've been playing BLM since the beginning, not that it actually matters. I play it for strength. Being strong is what I enjoy. What is wrong with that? Whati s wrong with enjoying to be strong? Is that a crime? Does that offend you? Did I spend months in sky getting A hands becuase I enjoy BLM? I can't enjoy BLM in AF hands? I got the Genie Weskit because it will help with the BLM playstyle? I picked Tamas Ring as my CoP choice because Ninja is more useful to endgame?

Let's face it, for all you people trying to justify yourself as "better than the other BLMs" because you feel like the job is yours based on longevity and dedication... if you don't care about your strength, you aren't a real BLM. Blackmage is about power, about strength and about overwhelming the opponent. A real blackmage would have learned by now, you can't love BLM but not love power, power is the very heart and soul of the BLM.

summoners will not be next, as some say.. the job overall is very well rounded. how can someone say that with summoner being a basically supportive job? yeah, some blood pacts own 70+. also too many other new jobs with the expansion will have everyone and anyones interests peaked. not everyone in game is gonna wanna be a summoner like they did when they heard diabolos was available. that bandwagon came and went and i doubt we will see it ride up again for a while. stop hating.

So, what i am inferring her (correct me if i am wrong) is that even though blm helps alot with end game stuff, and makes fights go alot faster, it should be nerfed b/c the poor little w/e job is getting picked last for god fights? That seems a little vindictive considering, like passions said earlier, most of blm help melee get there gear.

And they're milking the same meleers' kindred seals for profit. If you want to piss developers off, put arrowburn only in your search comment and run a line of 10 meleers through a BC while taking a free cut. Form up 15 blms and take down something that was supposed to be a challenge, and then expand your enterprise. Go ahead and take the idea of balance that is their ultimate goal and spit at it. Someone said they play blm for the power. They're not powerful and never were. They do damage and they have enfeeblers. People who played blm for the power didn't do it because it was powerful. They did it because sleepga and thundaga could be taken advantage of. The only way a blm can outparse a good meleer endgame is if they play keepaway bouncehate from them, or if they try to perpetuate the 2004 mentality that "melee gives the mob tp." Black mage, like ranger, never needed nerfing. The players did. Warriors should thank square for what they did to ranger. But unfortunately now warriors are doing the same thing rangers did. That type of player never learns.

Nevertheless, people have no one to blame for the nerf but themselves. Black mages, meet rangers. Rangers...lol welcome back to the world of the living. Topic title says it all like always. I could refrain from telling the forum how things are going to be in this game, but that just makes it all the funnier when it happens and you can cut with a knife the dissonance between what people said previously and what they try to cover it up with now that they're wrong. I could say "don't do it again" but let's be honest...we all know they will. They play for the power, and by default that is the wrong answer. In the end, if blms were to throw a fit and leave, nothing would happen. Play for the power? More like don't play or acknowledge anything else because it's not powerful. That's where the nerf comes in. All they are, in the end, is wrong about that.

Padded caps, baby. Padded caps. The only imbalance short of an outright exploit is a player-perpetuated one, but that doesn't make it any less real and damaging. Some user's always convincing themselves that they've got right somewhere. This ain't new, and it'll never be old.

Kudos to Square. If they don't see the worth of others, make them see it. Don't even ask them what they think. They'll think something different the day after the fix to step back in line with reality or if they're particularly bullheaded...they'll level summoner or warrior. I told a shell a year ago that summoner was the job to highly recruit if they planned on taking big things better. Laughed it up then and said their rangers and blms were just fine. Last time I heard, though, they had 3 shiny new summoners. Not fit to grace the presence of them one minute. The next they're gold.

Here's some advice to make the nerfs stop: Stop.

No, they are the real blm's because they love the job for what it is more. They are true blm's at heart, and lol, sorry, can't continue with this bs. "I deserve to be blm, you don't because you've played other jobs"

Were ya laughing your ass off thinking the exp nerf from 50-75 would be barely noticable?

Yeah actually, I loved all the bitching and whining because people thought they got "screwed." It was pathetic. Didnt bug me at all even though I was around 72 at the time and didnt get most of the benefits of the patch.

And just because some patches made a big difference doesnt mean every one will. Nin nerf anyone? All I said is get some fucking details on it before you get in the fetal position and cry.

with all this fussin and complaining there is one underlying factor im not sure of. do we even know what exactly what this mod/nerf even is?

The true blackmage at heart is the one who loves what makes blackmage different from all the other jobs.

Just as the true Paladin at heart loves pulling hate, loves having the highest defense, loves the feeling of his controller shaking as the mob wails on him.

Just as the true Samurai loves the feeling of getting the most TP and weapon skilling the hell out of mob. If you nerf skillchains it won't make the all the true samurais say "Glad those posers are going to leave now."

it's not play style, I can play like a blackmage on my redmage. What makes my blackmage best is when the tank is getting beat up, I don't even have to cure him. I can throw on stoneskin, blink phalanx and hit that mob with thunder 4, and I can hold that hate til I start taking damage, and save that tank hundreds of damage while at the same time shortening the fight.

If you wanna tell me, I should be happy if that was taken away from me, dead wrong. And I've been playing BLM since the day it released here. And I was one of the first NA to 75, and I've spent more time as BLM than I doubt many have on entire characters with 3 75 jobs on it. I know what blackmage is all about, and "what it is" is more than just its playstyle(which by the way varies greatly anyway from BLM to BLM).

If the melee do not want to spend their ks in a manaburn, they dont have to. As pretty much everyone has agreed on, multiple set ups can beat pretty much everything in game.

And dude, of course people take advantage of sleepga. The only other thing remotely close to it is horde lulliby, but the probelm is brd cant deal damage. Again, SE are the ones that gave us these spells. Blm just figured out how to kill stuff quickly.

Hmm, i'd like to make this point. Everyone complains that manaburning is not what SE intended. Its too unbalanced. However, nin was not intended to be a tank. And on top of that, If what the guy at the fan fast said is true, SE acknowledges that nin are also too powerful. However, they arent planning to do anything for nin. My point is, nerfs dont happen until enough people bitch about it to se.

Its akin to melee being picked last for kickball (DM, KS30, w/e), then crying to the teacher (SE) about it.

You didn't read it fully. They said nin was too powerful, but they weren't planning on doing anything to nin YET. They're still looking at ways to balance nin out, not that they're just not doing anything at all.

And here's the mentality that I was talking about, that melee aren't the in thing so if they want to be "picked first" they should have been blm's.

What I find hilarious is all this crap about BLM and people boo an idea to fix the biggest game inbalance there is, a refresh BP.

Seeing as the biggest imbalance is lack of BRDs and RDMs.

You wanna talk about who gets "picked first"...

SMN is already overpowerd...can't believe they would even think about making them stronger. Give one of the new jobs refresh >.>

After all this bitching, all they are going to do is introduce diminishing returns lol.

Well something needs to be done. Only 2 jobs that can tank, only 2 jobs that can refresh. Most people don't enjoy playing that refresh job. People bitch about a few BCs and squaresoft's right on it, how about what causes 5 hours of seeking time?

Good god, most of the discussion has been on mnk's and war's up to this point. I'm sorry, but when a 75 rdm/nin or nin/rdm can solo mobs that it takes a full pt of 75's to defeat with a normal set-up that's bull. If blm gets nerfed in parties or blm burns are nerfed, they need to freaking beef up the def and give an option of soloing.

When I started this game 2 years ago on another server, I choose elvaan pld as my main. Switched pre-rng nerf to this server and decided I'ld like to be a little taru. So what's taru's main job? You guessed it, BLM. So I level BLM because for a race, it is what I'm built for. I take time off my taru to go to the other end of the spectrum and play Galka SAM on my mule. If my blm gets nerfed and suddenly becomes undesirable as a main job I honestly don't want to start over with another job/char. I would be very inclined to just not play this game anymore. Not because I can't MB, but because I'm around a level 60 BLM and that would be 60 levels wasted that I could have been a RDM and be able to solo anything I wanted.

My Solution: NERF RDM

lmao, QFBW (quoted for being wrong)

Ok...and how woud that be wrong?

SMN can deal 500 dmg every <1min to neary every HNM, get no hate for it, its garunteed damage, they can cast phalanx now on everyone in the party, making plds even better than before, have a pretty much unlimite supply of MP, making them better than any blm in almost every situation.

The only thing "wrong" with smn is the issue with smn skill doing jack shit, which they seem to be fixing.

Give them AOE refresh? Give me a break, then they would never run out of MP and would make smn an easy job to get to 75 with.
