50k takes less than a day for new people to get. Simply selling off crystals, doing rank missions, various random newbie quests, and selling off exp drops pays for everything quite easily.
eremite's rings: 1k?
cloak thingy: 10k or use CP
hands: ask for help with mychophile cuffs if you want but noones going to be mad at you for not having em.
mages slacks: 30k
black silk neckercheif: free(quest it you idiot)
you could quest the friar's rope but the mnd means nothing to blm anyway
That doesnt even hit 50k and that's with splurging on the pants.

And to top this all off you can literally eat cookies or borrow cookies as your food from your party.

Most races can use RSE to supplement missing stuff.
Things I didnt mention are the baron slops and that mp heals while resting belt.

Wheres your excuse for not even using 20k in gear? The people of this server are very willing to help out lsmates and others includig party mates who need a small favour with a quest/mission so long as you dont act like a whiny bitch.

There is a different between the best gear and the REQUIRED gears. If you say the +2 Ring gear or other int gears is unneeded for BLM... SUREEEE, hey monk! those Knuckles are unneeded till lvl 40!!! oh oh wait no need weapon till lvl75!!! MNK BARE FIST!!!

soo let me get this straight...

something as easy as selling moat carp can prove to be *too hard*. At this point, I would believe that this post has nothing to do with new players, but rather those who KNOW they should be doing better. This post pertains to those who don't really care about their performance in a party, but would rather go naked if at all possible just to finish off their sub.

Again, intelligence isn't an absolute "must have" during those lower levels however, if you know better then you should try your best to at least purchase some key pieces that would in fact help YOUR PARTY in the end. Claiming ignorance in this situation is downright...rude.

As such these players will conitinue to purchase mediocre gear, and quite possibly play in full artifact gear even when it comes to their main jobs due to utter laziness.

You're the one who needs to get a clue. I don't know what race you are, but even Taru's need a little int boost at ALL levels. Against IT mobs, lack of INT = resisted enfeebles(both elemental and straight up enfeeb magic) and resisted nukes. Not landing Elemental Enfeebs mean you're not going to get near as many skillups for Elemental Magic Skill. Elemental magic skill is what is going to help you the most with nukes, but without the INT to back them up, they hit for shit.

You're probably one of those clueless assholes that just casts nuke after nuke after nuke and try to tank the mob. You probably didn't even bother buying all your spells, especially the elemental enfeebs. "Oh ,they are a waste of money, i'm just going to nuke the piss out the mob anyway."

YOU, are a RETARD and I hope I never have the pain of getting into an exp party with you. You obviously know nothing about the relationships between stats and performance in a party, or just don't care.

The gear is cheap. Try farming or crafting for millions like in the higher levels. Just quit now and save us all the headache of dealing with an ignorant puss bag. And for the love of god quit playing Black Mage, as you are a disgrace to the job!!

A clue you say? Why not turn that around on yourself. I understand not wanting to spend loads on a SJ's but for fuck's sake get the minimum requirements.. INT is a freaking give in, you worthless piece of FFXI data.

and FYI: 50k is nothing, not that hard to get. so if you cant manage to spare the loot to at least be a worthwhile assest to a party don't fuckin level, and go farm.

And you know need to be playing for 4 + years to understand that concept..
 
Having gil isn't really the problem.

I've lost interest in this, but I thought I'd clarify that the people I was referring to spent their money all on either MP gear (dolphin staff, zealot's mitts, etc) or defense gear (just NQ tunic or what have you).

It's like they went out of their way to avoid INT. That's why I was mad...I could understand if they just couldn't afford good gear, I guess, but they spent the money they did have on useless crap, and absolutely everyone did it.
