Mabel & Cix

Yes I've had a bad experience with Mabel. She went afk in the middle of a fight at Rancor's Den within 3 fights of being there. I was hit with petrified and my shadows went down and I was wailed on for at least 3 rounds of attack until I died. Then the entire party zoned and she stood there waiting for about 30 seconds until the mobs returned and killed here. Upon being questioned "were you afk?" she adamantly denied it.

A few fights later being asked to stand back with the mages to recieve ballad was apparently "too much abuse" for her and so she promptly warped and disbanded. I never did get back as much xp as I lost.

On a side note, you need to watch yourself as well Rhinegold. Bibiki Bay at peak hours on a weekend and you shout over the zone, send harrassing tells and do annoying emotes to try and piss off any party that gets remotely near you, even if they are fighting a different set of mobs than you. You need to grow the fuck up.

I love when people posting on the flameboard try to make other people posting on the flameboard sound like losers for posting on the flameboard. Wee.

Alrighty.....Here we go. Right off let me say I know Mabel, Cix and just about everyone else in this thread one way or another lol. I'm a Black Mage 75 and I do try and stun as many bombs as I can but incase nobody noticed SE has changed the mob's TP gain a few updates ago and they all tend to use special abilities more often now (ie Bomb Toss). It's now virtually impossible to prevent your party getting fragged...as such Barfire and Stoneskin are every Tarutaru's best friends. Mabel's a Tarutaru and she's been one-hit-killed by bombs enough that I do understand her nervousness about the bombs. In the end the only defence against bombs is to kill those damned Goblins as quickly as possible. That's my 2 gil's worth. Thank you.

Running away from the mob isnt an option half the time. Didnt someone already say they use TP skills in a Skillchain for the most part? Moving the mob at that point would prolly not be good. Especially with ninja/thief combo. Running away would cause a major interupt in lost TP from the mob moving and having to get the mob back into place for the Skillchain.

Honestly these are all good arguments but when it comes down too it alot of BLMs dont stun. Period. I have partied with Rhinegold and though he is not a bad player I do believe that he did not make a huge effort to stun.

Just Fucking stun and quit Bitchin, its not that hard. Sometimes you cant do it but most times you can and you still dont.

ok I DO STUN when i CAN, and during bomb toss the gob doesn't move dumb fuck

Did I say that you should stun every damn bomb or that a blm could? NO. Obviously you can't. And i never even mentioned mable in my post so who the hell are you talking to?

Any time you think your high and might mage ass knows more about the game than me feel free to send me a tell. I could explain to you the job of every single person in two full alliances during straight up tanking kirin. Oh but I'm sure you're mighty self could tell me the extremely complex strategy of doing Desert swarm ks30 with blms... "Yea, just another dumb melee" says the account buyer...

your right on the you could maybe tell me the whole TANKING party deal blah blah blah, but you making assumptions on what mages need to be doing. you act like i'm some nOOb that doesn't understand shit. what does kirin have to do with this anyways? you think your cool because you tank kirin straight up? ok that's just way off topic.

Yet again you made a post that made no sence you just saw it as, i'm a melee i hate mages they are all lazy so i'm going to bitch and say this one is lazy also. thats all i got out of your 2 post. at least i'm not stuck behind that one mode and experience both sides. i have melee characters and mage characters. you just brag about how hard your stick beats kirin.

Regardless of the arguements. It seems that Mabel was selfish to leave the party ruining EVERYONES exp just because she was unsatisfied with the way the BLM was stunning.

Thats just a small aspect of the EXP party anway. I've played BLM against gobs a lot. I stun whenever I can but ya, sometimes your casting when they start. If I'm casting a long spell even if I cancel it I'm still going to miss the stun.

Getting killed over and over because of your parties neglacence is a good reason to warp out. A BLM missing stun is not.

Is it worth the risk to invite Mabel to your party? She might leave because of a small problem with one of the players... Personally I think I'll check if anyone else is online first.

Just to give a little personal history with Mabel. I have known her since the first weeks she has played this game, though I didn't know of her char Mabel until we partied in Bibiki. She was probably THE BEST whm I've partied with in that zone. As a tank, I saw my haste/prot/shell/regen almost never go down, and any debuffs erased faster than any other whm. Every blm that lasted more than a half hour in a party with me before complaining and leaving had stunned 2/3 of the bomb tosses and I blocked the other third. Very few were just tossed.

Someone asked if bomb tosses really get that powerful later on. They do when they're thrown at the start of a fight. Bomb toss power is based on the mob's current HP when they commit suicide. If they drop the bomb, by intentional block or accidental, the nearby melee WILL take 700-1000 damage.

Before I look like I'm defending Mabel blindly, I would like to say that I don't respect just warping out on a party, but sometimes I've had to do it (twice actually) when they just will not listen, nor will they make an attempt to work as a PARTY! What that means to me is understanding requests and doing your best to fufill them all. Some things just aren't possible (every bomb stunned or what have you) but at least should be attempted. So what if a chain or two ends early because you're trying something new, if you get into a new rythm then things will go smooth agian, or if they don't work, you can try something else. Party success is about cooperation and comprimise.

I personally have never heard of her as of yet, but I do know a lot of these up and coming whm's are giving us old school ones bad names. They don't have have their spells.

I find myself having the same problem with BLM's now a days, giving thos eof us who have been playnig for ages a bad name.

I have to agree bigtime about that. Also, I'm noticing lots of Black Mages that don't like giving people D2. What's your problem kids? I was in Giddeus, leveling my X-Bow, when I ran out of ammo, so I was going to go back to Windurst to get more arrows and stuff. On my way out, this BLM75/RDM37 runs past me, and I ask him if he can give me D2, I told him 3000 reward. He told me he was busy. Y'know? It's sad when people don't want to spend 3 seconds of their time to save another person a 20 minute run. Considering the speed of D2 combined with Fast Cast x2, you honestly are looking at like 3 seconds. My buddy told me that he's had a lot of this trouble too.
First it's WHM's that don't Cure, then it's BLM's that don't D2. What's next?

.....It's not the BLM's responsibility to D2 you. Ever. He'd have to invite you, and burn what? a 100 MP he could use doing somethign else when he arrives so he doesn't have to rest? :/ Thats more than 3 seconds he'd never get back.

TO put it plainly and simply: If he wants to D2 you, ok, if he doesn't, go the fuck on and don't whine about it. He didn't play BLM thinking "OH BOY I GET TO D2 PEOPLE ALL THE TIME :D "

Doesn't matter. Isn't it just courtesy to help someone out? So what if it's a few MP and a few seconds? You can't be in that big of a hurry to not spend like 5 seconds of your time to help someone out. What's the big deal? It was around a 20 minute run I had to make fom the back of Giddeus back to Windurst Woods. If I was at the entrance to Giddeus and I was only going to Windurst Waters or something, it'd be one thing, that's only about a 10 minute run.
[QUOTE: Malchiah].....It's not the BLM's responsibility to D2 you. Ever.[/QUOTE]
I realize that. It's just courtesy. I don't have to go out of my way to Raise people. I don't have to give teleports to people. Heck, if I didn't want to, I wouldn't cure in parties either. I know there's a big difference between both of the things, but the idea stands the same. It'd be nice for someone to do that. Heck, one time, a BLM got off her chocobo to D2 me from Yhoator. She did it for free even. Do you know how awesome that is? I'm not saying everyone should be that nice, but the least you could do is D2 someone and save them 20 minutes.

You do realize this flame wasn't about you, right? Somone say you didn't stun well in the last party you were in and now you're all worked up about it? I never once said that blms should or could stun every bomb a gob ever drops. Theres a difference between being unable to stun a bomb and just too damn lazy to pay attention.

And as for the kirin shit, that was just a reference since you felt that im a "dumb melee and don't know shit about a mages responsibility" which is far from accurate, I never once said mages in general were lazy or that they were easy jobs, because they aren't.

So instead of making generalizations about melee and then saying I'm generalizing mages, when I never did, go figure out what a real thundaga3 MB can do.

Stun is the same amount of hate as flash. Notice the correlations in the levels that the spells are acquired: Flash is 45whm and 37pld, Stun is 45blm and 37drk. At higher levels, the +enmity of tanks and the -enmity of mages really negate the hate effects of a mage casting those spells. As whm, I cast flash a LOT and I never have any hate issues at all. As blm, I cast stun a LOT and I *rarely* have any hate issues. The only reason a blm will have hate issues from stun is due to over-nuking.

WHMs who know what the hell they're doing cast Flash. If you get a significant amount of hate (the mob runs towards you), the tank sucks. End of story. Thanks for further proving the point. :D

In Bibiki bay with a whitemage, it's actually rather preferential if you want to stun bombs or not. As long as people are kept healed and barfira is up the chances are very rare a bomb is going to kill anyone, while the chances are very high the goblin is going to suicide giving you fast xp. As long as there are no deaths, it is 100% worth it letting the goblins suicide. A high curaga and down to the knee and the whitemage should be full MP before the time it would have even taken to kill the goblin in the first place.

Now if you have raise 1 only maybe stunning is a good idea, but it's worth the risk with raise 3 in the party.

I'll also point out, if you're the only stunner, and your focus is towards stunning as a BLM it will limit your abilities. A good BLM is rarely just standing there at attention. They should be either casting or resting. The main thing BLM should stun is for example the black magic cast by skeletons in King Ranpere's tomb. It has a long enough casting time to get up from rest so the only time you don't really have a chance to stun is when they start casting it right BEFORE you cast a spell, not giving you enough time to react and stop and making it impossible to stun.

As pointed out, DRKs will never be resting cause they want to keep their TP and they have no long-casting spells. The only time they'd be unable to stun is if they were in the very start of a skillchain(which cause the output of TP to the mob tends to trigger those bombs).

Yep. And people would have no right to complaina bout it. It's your choice.

This is simply now throwing out the most drastic of things you can think of. C'mon, Curing is something you're expected to do in a party. D2ing isn't something a person is expected to do when running through giddeus.

You are saying everyone should be that nice, by complaining when one person isn't. You simply expect him to be nice. When the fact of the matter he has a choice.

Hell, maybe he's had a really bad day, and doesn't wanna deal with that. So he gives a quick auto translated response to get you to leave him be.Think about his position, without knowing your own. If he was /anon, IMO that makes YOU the jerk for asking him. He would be /anon for a reason. He doesn't wanna be bugged. I know PLENTY of WHM who go /anon to get away form "raise me prz".Just because you don't, doesn't mean everyone else should be the same. He probably had his reasons for not helping you.

So, just get over it, admit you have no right to complain because he doesn't wanna be "nice" and get over it.

For the last time, make a efing blog, to cry about this crap.

lol, stop sucking up to Solitia. Whatever, though. I'm saying it's stupid how he couldn't have gone out of his way for like 5 seconds to save me 20 minutes. There's a thing in this world called "courtesy" my friend. It's not something everyone follows, but it's sure nice to see someone sacrifice a little to save someone a lot.

btw, you're one to talk about the blog. Send me a PM and stop complaining about every time I say something. God, why don't you say something to someone else? I'm talking no different than everyone else. Except that one time that Solitia told me, now you're just telling me to do it every time I open my mouth.

I can't even see the Problem here.

Blms stun Bomb Toss. That's how it is. That's what we do. Unless you see 2 bombs in less than 45 seconds, you will NEVER see one go off if I'm in your party.

The proper way to do it is start out the Fight with Rasp Frost Drown if it's a non-mage Gobby, or Shock Burn Choke if it is a Mage Gobby.

Then you stop casting and wait with your finger poised over your stun macro.
As soon as you see Bomb toss, Stun. Then you have 45 seconds to Nuke the shit out of it until Stun is ready again. Rinse & Repeat.

It's not hard, and you still do plenty of damage waiting on Stun recast timer.

I blame Al Queda....I'm telling you they've got a secret Goblin training camp hidden somewhere in Bibiki Bay. Call the Air Force and drop a couple of Daisy Cutters smack in the middle of Bibiki Bay I say!
