Sooo.....anybody out there still play? Probably not since it's not 1998 anymore. I'm kind of a late bloomer, just discovered it's awesomeness a couple months ago. The buddy of mine who got me into it has some crazy decks, this one elf deck in paticular that's just.....absolutely ridiculous. I've never seen it lose. I've never even seen anyone stand a chance. Me and my brother even teamed up against it and he still wiped the floor with both us.

So what kind of decks do you have/or used to have?

I play a casual Bant faction aggro deck from the Shards of Alara/Conflux sets.

White/Green/Blue

I even pulled the most expensive card of the Shards of Alara set from a random pack I bought at the local Target. It's Elspeth-Knight Errant, the white planeswalker. It's worth about $30 now.

If you want I can post my decklist.

I joined in a random EDH tournament a couple months ago, came in like 3rd to last, and pulled Sarkhan Vol out of my one booster pack.

Out pulled nearly everyone there by a landslide, which was pretty darn funny. Only one that came close was my best friend finishing similarly poorly, and cracking a foil Cryptic. Harharhar.

I don't really play Magic at all, my heart lies with Pokemon.

edit: that said, I have a rather amusing mono blue Bounce deck for Extended. It doesn't really have much in the way of win conditions though (pretty much one Guile and one Deep-Sea Kraken... yup...) so it mostly just sits there annoying the crap out of its opponent until it eventually loses.

I love magic but i cant manage to sit down and make new decks anymore lately. I'm mostly a casual player on accuont of there being no official tournaments here. My first deck(and still favourite) was a 5 colour bringer deck made during the mirrodin era with a few improvements being made from time to time.
Platinum angel is a really fun card. nothing says screw you like a card with the text of "You cant lose the game and your opponents cant win the game."
I'm capable of using/making any deck type imo but i prefer to use decks at least loosely based on a combo simply because they're fun.

Used to play during the days of Psychatog and before that, Fires of Yavimaya. I was never any good because I couldn't afford cards for good decks, but which 7th grader can?

I used to play MonoBlack Control...oh yeah, Legacy Weapon.

Man oh man, I have a boatload of cards in my room, but I probably haven't even looked at them in 3-4 years. I was never very good, because I always found it more enjoyable to play a 5-color Sliver deck than to actually try and win haha. When I did (rarely) play for serious, I can't quite remember some of the names, but I had a decent Blue Counter deck with a few Ertai's and some other jazz. I think the last set I was around for was Scourge.

I have some cards still, but I'm very much still a beginner. I didn't even know how to play at all until about 2003/04 when some friends taught me and got me buying decks. I'd have to have someone to really get into it again with though. It was fun and I wouldn't mind playing it again with people who are patient enough to play with a noob. Heh.

My buddy Maraxus has a 5-color Sliver deck that kicks ass. It's a little slow, (unless I pull a Gemhide, which allows me to tap any sliver I control for a mana of any color) but it is a pretty formidable deck if I pull the right shit. Those slivers all seem to work really well with each other.

Counter decks piss me the fuck off though. Any deck that uses counters in any way shape or form, is fucking annoying. Marax has a devour deck and a wither deck(curse his wither deck) that both piss me off to no end.

and pulled Sarkhan Vol out of my one booster pack.

Yeah Maraxus has one of those too...they're usually not too hard to get rid of but I remember this one game in paticular I just totally forgot he had it out and he wound up wipin the floor with me because of it.

...Wtf? That's just messed up. How do you play a card like that? Are there certain conditions or do you just need a butt-fuck ton of mana?

Wow, that's a pretty sweet Planeswalker. And at 4 mana cost? Don't planeswalkers usually take 5 or 6? There's several ways that I've seen to get around indestructible though. One of the cards in Marax's blue/green deck is called Snakeform, it's an instant that says "target creature loses all abilities and becomes a 1/1 green snake creature until end of turn." I remember taking out one of his indestructibles that way once when he went to block with it. I felt so proud of myself.
Oh and if you wanna post your decklist I'll take the time to read through it...but I won't ask you to, as I can see that taking quite awhile.

God I love this game... I don't even have a deck of my own yet, but Marax has like a dozen so whenever I go over there he lets me use one of his. I used to use his Sliver deck almost exclusilvely, but he recently made a blue/green that I really really like.

I play frequently, in tournaments every THU and FRI. Tagrenith, where did you play the EDH tourny at? The place I play at has them once a month I believe. Had one last night. I got to top4 and we split because EDH takes forever and it was already 1030. But yeah, I enjoy casual, but tourneys are fun too :D. I usually make my money back in prize.

Is there a website or something where I can find out where torunaments are held in my area? Cause I have no doubt in my mind that I could take 1st every time with Mara's elf deck. I'd love to play some other people too. The only people I've ever played are Mara and my brother...with Mara's decks.

Man I loved this game back in the day. I have a near complete set of Ice Age when I heard they weren't going to make em anymore. I think I'm like two cards short.

An EDH deck? Or you mean a type2 deck? As far as checking for places, I believe there is a thing on the wizard website that is a locater type thing.

I used to play heavily back in 2004-2005, entered some tournaments, got my assed whupped mainly by black decks. I used to use a Green deck, and switch with a Red deck for casual/friendly play.

And to quote

Yeah, counter decks piss me off when I use my green deck. I have only 3-4 creatures, all like 5/5 or so, my oppenent has like 20 1/1 creatures chipping away at me, it sucks.

Silly magic players go play yugioh.
In the....7th, 8th grade? Something like that, I don't remember anymore. In the whatever grade it was I once punched a kid in the stomach for telling everyone I played Yugioh.

Sad....I know. :(

EDIT: I remember! It was the ninth grade, cause it was my freshman year in highschool and I didn't go to school with that annoying fuck in middle school.

I ment this as a joke because these days being good at yugioh means you have 3-4k to spend on playsets of 300 dollar cards.

Hahaha, yeah, removing indestructible from the creature will do it.

I play at a store in Southwest Florida.
