What defines lazy in that description, being unemployed? If so, did it ever cross your mind that they might be largely unemployed because of being black? Which would obviously segue to being "trouble"some for most.
Heh, if you think that's the case you really have no idea what it's like there. To answer your question though, I was speaking more so of the ones that are employed as I had more contact with them. Furthermore, this day and age, those excuses are unacceptable, even in Alabama. I know a good number of successful Black people in Alabama, it can be done and is accomplished. Coming from there to a state like TX, I've seen many examples but my favorite is construction times. Schools, churches, and stuff of the sort go up in months here. In Alabama, it's years. There is a lot to be said in that for having Mexicans for laborers as apposed to Blacks (main low end labor force in Alabama), but I'm goin' to keep it short. You can throw any excuse in the book at me, but I've seen it, lived it, and you haven't so I can't make someone who doesn't want to understand, understand. You see things as they should be projective to your area. Coming from up north it's easy to want to take the side of the Blacks in Alabama due to the way it is for them up there, truth be told I'd be the same way if I had only lived here in TX. It's just one of those things you have to see I suppose.
You're fighting a fight you have no experience for say in. It's really no different from high school rumors, the world around you says Alabama hates Blacks, despite it being littered with them, so it must be true. If you were to see two fellas having an argument on a street corner would you jump in and immediately, without any prior understanding of their quarrel, jump in and start calling one of them names and gettin' all "up in his grill"? I wouldn't think so, so why do it here?
