Is anyone as excited for this game as I am? The first of the trilogy, Mass Effect was a great game imo, a good 45 hours of gameplay or so. To me I thought it was a good game, that a sequel could perfect and I believe bioware will deliver.

Some of the first ones sidequests were a bit stale, and the main storyline was a bit short, something the devs promised to focus on the second time around.

Another unique part of this game is that you have the option to upload your ME1 character into ME2, and all the decisions you made in the first one will impact the people you come across in part 2, they'll remember you. It seems like you will have a totally new crew, so it will be interesting to see how that comes to be. Another important feature will be the retooling of the annoying Mako.

Can't wait for this, thoughts?

I hope I still have my old save data then! But I enjoyed the first one a hell of a lot and the story was pretty good (from what I can remember lol). Although like you said, there were some pretty boring side quests which were very much the same for each planet.

However I feel Bioware will know this and will of course fix the problems from the first game and if that's the case, bring on number 2! I'm actually more excited than I once thought apparently.

Oh and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think PS3 are getting this also? I see myself getting the 360 just for the save data thing mainly, also it's still my main console.

But this should be moved to Multi-Plat as I know for a fact that PC is getting this.

I'm pretty sure that it's 360 and PC only. I quite enjoyed the first (even if it was me watching my younger brother play it. He's the 360 owner, I'm a PC gamer). I ended up pre-ordering it for him (his late Christmas gift), found out later it was coming out on the PC at the same time, and for $15 cheaper. So he and I will get a copy. Am looking forward to it (and shooting things in the head with a sniper).
I should find a PC copy of the first and play through that as well...(I know the endings, but didn't watch)
Wonder if the "save files from the first carry story over to the second" for the PC version as well. Not a game breaker, but would be neat.

Cheers~

Yeah it's 360 and PC only.

Also, yes you can import your ME1 save for PC as well.

I know EA are doing a direct to hardd drive release of it. Not for a very good price though, you could get a better deal somewhere else.

I'm still not sure If I want to use my old save file yet. I'd personally rather replay it and maybe use that one with different choices then my first play through.

I hope levels won't be carried of to the next game. I'm playing the first one currently, and while many parts of this are great, a lot of the sidequestion missions (the collecting item ones in particular) are boring as fuck and I think Im gonna skip them. I'm about halfway through the game, should be done by the time 2 comes out and I'll jump straight into it at that time.

I'm old-fashioned. I like having the physical disk. Hell, I like having the box. I keep them. Still have a ton of pc game boxes back when they were 8.5x11x2(?), with some freaking manuals that you could hold, not this pdf bullshit and paper-thin "manuals" like they do now. Homeworld's manual was a piece of beauty...sigh, I felt ooold when I typed that, and I'm only 25.

I wouldn't say "totally new crew." Tali, at least, has been confirmed to join Shepard again. And honestly, it only makes sense that either her, Liara, or Garrus would. Considering Kaiden/Ashley and Wrex can end up dead during your playthrough of ME1. And between Tali, Liara, or Garrus, I'm all for Tali(Garrus kicked more ass, but was way less useful being the second worst hybrid class, after Kaiden.) I imagine the remaining two still appear in the plot.

A shame though, Wrex and Tali where the best two squad mates to ride on elevators with because of their back and forth hatred banter for each others races.

Where did you read that? I read that she runs into you, but havent seen anything about her joining you up though.

Wow interesting, I wonder what happens to the love interest from the first story.

Yeh I do and I don't. I don't like the clutter of more game boxes but I do like the owning feeling, when I downloaded The Sims 3 (lol) it didn't feel like I owned it. Despite paying more for it >_> but it's also more convenient which is probably why it does so well.

It doesn't make sense that it costs more though. You're not getting the box like you said, and the manual etc so surely you're saving them money so why they charge you more is beyond me. Maybe it's just EA though.

Actually according to the game store employee, the PC version was $15 cheaper than the 360 one. My response was a raised eyebrow, "huh, you sure?" "yep". "cool, wonder why..." And I am still getting a box, it's just not the old-fashioned box I love so much.

Off topic but I love homeworld. And miss it a ton, does anyone still play it online? I hate that no one knows what is it when I mention it, cause it was like the best rts ever made.

And I'm also curious how the difficulty is going to be if you can transfer your character. You just start mass effect 2 out with a strong leveled up character? It reminds me of resident evil 4/5, it's always fun to use the previous file to own shit, but I prefer playing from scratch, making it more difficult.

Im thinking all your really gonna import are the decisions you made and the characters you kept alive and things like that. Theyved added new weaponry, and got rid of using skill points into shit like pistols, rifles, etc. Id guess you start as level 1, perhaps youll carry over some money (Would be sweet since i had the max i could possibly have lol), butmostly the decisions youve made.

that's kind of lame, i turned my pistol into a freaking nightmare gun with hell coming out the end

I'm going to play through ME1 before this comes out just for the hell of it. The game was short but it was soooo awesome.
