Metal Gear Solid 4 - Official Thread

Anyone else going for the collector's edition of this? I just switched my preorder to the LE today. Nice stuff for the extra cost, especially the import soundtrack.

The LE is Gamestop only, so i can't get it, but most LE's lately are just a soundtrack and a keychain. Not worth the extra money, imo. Especially when i would just end up downloading the Soundtrack anyway.

Yeah, I normally do the same, but the Artbook and Graphic Novels and the different box it comes in made it worth it for me. That, and finding some of the songs from an import CD can sometimes be hard. Either way, I figured I would support Kojima for making a great game (I hope lol)
 
For $15 the LE is seriously worth it. With just the Artbook and Graphic Novels, you are getting your money's worth. It's also the last game of the series! Get the LE instead before other people do! I already have mine reserved.

When did reviews suddenly signify that the reviewing party isn't a fan of the franchise?
I'm sorry your precious game didn't get a 100% everywhere like you felt it deserved, but complaining that 8/10 is a shitty score is stupid. News flash: 8/10 is still a pretty damn good score.
 
Not when you pass out 10/10's to games like Halo 3 and GTA 4.
 
Halo and GTA are games for a wider fanbase, those scores are directed towards the average gamer and to be honest both games were 10s for the average gamer. For someone like me who does not think MGS has been that great of a series, 8 is just perfect for a score. It still represents a good game. There is nothing against MGS, just its a very unique game and very precise fan base. For a MGS fan sure they will want 10s... If i were the average gamer i would want honesty lol... In the end reviews are for the birds anyways.
 
Who cares what score a review gives? If you like the game, then buy it, if not then shut up. Really, Yahtzee's quote about rankings and shit is really true.

I for one shall enjoy the fuck out of this game as I have with the others(cept two, fuck I hate Raiden.)

snake won't be the main character or it'll be more prequels if anything.. but prolly will be a new character. Kojima said he wants to take a lesser role in the MGS series if it goes on but he would be ok continuing it so far as the fans want it continued.

Also, I said before, I'm too lazy to find a new place other than Kotaku :P which, taking just the news from it, they are fine with dealing with. Regardless of their own opinions, hehe.

Don't care about reviews, but I honestly do care about MSG4's sales. Without a lot of advertising out for some reason, good reviews are important, and if the game is a great "MSG4" game, it doesn't need to get compared to Halo or GTA4, it should just be given the scored based on how people who would actually consider buying it would rate it.

It doesn't need to be simplified for the general public. I mean, come on... Halo is great for Halo fans, but what rating would FPS haters give it? MSG4 is a stealth actiong, cinematic mind-fuck game. If people are gonna hate that genre, they aren't the audience anyway.

Hmmmm, I can't imagine that game without Solid Snake. But I wouldn't mind playing prequels. I'll read a bit more about this before I post again.
