Metal Gear Solid 4 - Official Thread

One thing I'm most impressed about this game is the enemy AI. Sometimes it's a bit silly(Like Octo Camo on the ground beside an enemy) but when they're actually seeking you out they become fucking smart and hard to dodge <_<
 
I'm not very far into the game, but I really like what I've seen so far. The little x-button flashbacks are a nice touch, tying the entire series together.

I'm overly-cautious when I play these games. I know it's going to take me twice as long to beat it as a normal player. Ah, well...

I was going to buy the game tonight but if there is that kind of product placement in this video game, <insert random threat here>.
 
If it makes you feel better, it's not just iPod. There are also Playboy magazines for distracting guards.

With cutscenes, Act 2 took me about 4 hours to play. Thats just 1 of 5 acts so avg'd out about 20 hours, give or take depending on how much you stealth/die/own etc.

Fuck this game is so AWESOME. I can't believe gametrailers only gave it a 9.3, bitches. They didn't even look at online either but w/e.

Decided to take a break after the briefings for Act 3 and will pick it up again tomorrow. So good.

the night vision snake eye gives her away, but you gotta be careful cause sometimes she'll disguise herself as parts to the machines, also, the night vision shows her foot prints (or tentacle prints) so you can track wheres shes gonna hide

Loved the game. Answered everything I wanted answered, had some nice twists and fights, beautiful graphics. Many more weapons than in previous games and just done amazing all around. The only thing it is missing is an epic boss fight. To this day, I still think that Psycho Mantis from MGS1 is the best boss fight ever, and MGS4 could have used something great like it. Going back through a 2nd time now on hardest difficulty.

I dunno. Laughing Octopus was pretty awesome. Did anyone else get to see the beauty behind the mask, or did you just shoot her? I used the tranquilizer gun to kill her, and I might have gotten a different cinematic than ya'll. ;o

Its awesome though, it has unlockable music throughout the game =D

anyone try killing the beauties with the tranquilizer yet?, i killed laughing octopus with it and got laughing beauty face camo, dk if i woulda got that if i hadn't or not, i know that in 3 if you killed them with the tranq you got special camo so i gave it a shot
 
i just have one question, do you get to play as raiden?

No i just shot her in the face with my M4 and i got the face camo too. I think you get an item after every B&B you kill.

Yeah that's how i've been killing the beauties. The bitch of a one to kill was the one where you were atop the church in eastern europe, against the flying one. That thing flew all the hell around the sky and you're just running around shooting your little dart gun at it trying to incapacitate it. Took me about a half hour.
 
Alriight, at the end of the 4th act... gotta saY, the game keeps getting better and better every act. Also all the subtle detail that is found just everywhere, this has got to be the most graphically impressive game ever made, even moreso than Crysis, when you take textures into account along with the engine.
 
hehe, I'm on act 2 the beginning part :P I'm trying to figure out how to save these rebels :\
 
Beat the game very early this morning. I will say this... This game is.......I dunno even know how to say it. It's like Holy **** x MGS = ifdshguidhgndjryhj

The ending is the best ending by FAR in gaming history. The cut-scenes, the gameplay, the characters, the plot twists. The game is just truly amazing. Greatest of all time with no thinking at all.

I''m on Act 2 of my second playthrough now :D.

Also, IGN US, and Gamespot gave it 10/10 :O
 
just fyi: if you take out the beasts with normal weapons when they have the power suit on, but tranq them when they're out of their suit just walking toward you, you can get their face camo

but if you take them out with a tranq with their suit on, and when the suit is off, you get their doll as well.

MGS4 is definitely is the best looking game to date. I don't know what game you are looking at Osyris

What do there dolls do? I never even touched octo with a tranq and i got the face camo deal.
