Metal Gear Solid 4 - Official Thread

Well, I got the special edition and checked out one of the vids. They were talking about it the whole weapon system. The basic premise is choice. In that you can choose to play the game however you want, and they figured Metal Gear purists wouldn't use the weapon shop because they'd prefer the challenge. It's sort of a strange thing to debate internally. More choice means thigns are easier... if you choose the easier path. You can say if the choice is available, if the player can use it to legally win, the game is easier as a result. I'm undecided. I mostly care about funness factor.

Try a playthrough on big boss extreme. You WILL NOT be able to push yourself past sneaking force no matter what guns you've bought. And the sneaking... is not half as easy. The enemy AI scales a lot, and they weren't terribly dumb to start off. To top it off, I find the legal guns in a pinch are more sensible. Defending yourself when you're trying to sneak and gun caught offhard isn't super easy with a railgun. You might find CQC and a handy M4 is more sensible.

I know what you mean in that first paragraph... I still feel the game is way too damn easy with the gun shop but if you do things the challenging way it is so fun...

I kinda go my own road. I could care less about moving through the game with no kills and perfect stealth. I am interested in killing the stragglers i find and not being detected in doing so... Like Tenchu with Snake and guns... My own MGS world and i like it alot lol...

does anyone know if the special face camo's do anything? or are they just for show(the beauty camo's, raidens camo, the mgs1 camo)

I mostly kill people out of impatience, or cause I fuck up and get caught sometimes. With easy enough difficulty, you'll probably realize it's easier to kill people than sneak by. The truth is I did that sometimes too in the earlier MGS games. Especially guns I could get first strike on if I anticipated they would be pains in the asses. Even with MGS1, with enough time getting the hang of the controls, killing is actually kind of fun.

I bet also after that quick run through if you tried MGO again you'd like it a bit more than before. Can't vouch for it personally, I wanna clear Big Boss extreme first, though I'm worried the first part of Act 5 on that difficulty will be too much for me.

My main weapon of choice is the Tranq. Second weapon, the P90 for dealing with unmanned stuff. Other then that I've only used the store for Ammo during boss fights and to buy the guns because I could. Though, I'm still saving up for the Musket. God, I want that gun.

The next step up for me is Big Boss difficulty but i doubt i will have the patience for it. The load screen will still work on Big Boss difficulty tho, and i am a very good shooter lol...

Your point on control is exactly my high point of MGS4. Tho i can not agree with you about past MGS games being fun, i just hated the controls. The game would feel like a rusted robot. This game is fine tuned to perfection in the control dept. I DO enjoy shooting it out in this game.

I want to pick up that bad ass MGS blue tooth headset before i give MGO another run. I just can not take no freaking communication. Ill join ya if i can find the damn headset tomorrow, was sold out at the EB i went to today.

That headset supposedly sucks if you want to use it for your phone too, but it's fine for PS3.

I think people are too hard on the MGS controls though. It's mostly about button priority, and the combat buttons aren't in the easier to hit positions... which is because the game isn't really designed around fighting, most sneaking. Thing is though, get into enough fights on MGS1 and you'll start to get the hang of it. Keep at it for a while and you''ll get good at it. At that point, you'll start having fun. Once you do that... MGS2 and MGS3 are no brainers. If you ask me, MGS2 is the best of the first 3... just my personal opinion. I though it was the most underrated.

I'm on my third "solid normal" playthrough. After this, I'm gonna try and beat the under 5 hours, no alerts, no kills, no use of health recovery items under "The Boss Extreme" to get the Big Boss rank, and the rewards that are awarded to you.

how the fuck do you kill vamp -.-

how the fuck do you kill vamp -.-

after you deplete all of his health and he falls to the ground, make sure you have your syringe equipped in your items section.

run up to him and get him in a cqc hold, and with the syringe still equipped - press triangle to inject him using the syringe.

Spoiler:
and then the real fun part begins

Big Boss Extreme down using nothing but Tranq ^^ Talk about time consuming lol

I'm on Naked Normal mode, I'll switch to The Boss Extreme when I complete the game.

So far my 2 favorite weapons are the tranq gun and the RPG-7.. when I'm discovered at times, I blow shit up XD

Just beat my first play through, 14 hours 56 minuets. Game was amazing, enough said. Good ending too which is always important. I played Guns blazing most of the time, rockin out with my cock out. M4 was my weapon. Probably gonna run back through again just using knife/tranq for shits and giggles. Def an amazing game. Now i need to go get some sleep D:

im havin mic issues on mgo i hear people through them but no sound happens when italk anyone else?

You know... the manual kicks ass too, in it it says that on MGO, Be nice to other people =D

Apart from MMOs, which online games say be nice to people online? =)

I'm curious.

What's everyone Codename?

I'm Eagle. "Title awarded to experienced weapon handlers who racked up their headshot count" My headshot count was well into the 400s.

Other titles I have are, Hawk, Pig, Frog, Giant Panda, Jaguar, and Hyena.
