Also I'm working on a fic about the merge. Showed the rough draft to Nymphadora of Unicorn and she thought it was turning out pretty good (That's who's sitting on my name for me. VERY trusted friend. You will prolly get to meet her once all is said and done, she sacrificed a midgard mule she made to play/talk to me to hold the name for me, and will recreate it on quetz once it's over.) tho I'll have to make some changes. But that's what a rough draft's for.

I'm half-expecting my names to be taken now that I've posted them. It was one of the things that made me hesitate to post at all. That, and I seem to have a number of enemies on Midgardsormr.
 
Hello Quetzalcoatl folks! I am not looking forward to the forced merge, but looking into the posts and replies here, I am a bit less nervous! ^-^ I also see some faces from my time in Midgarsormr That makes things a bit better too.
I just hope some people see this as a chance for a new beginning, as well as a slowdown of those [EXPLETIVES DELETED FOR USER'S OWN SAFETY] RMT [EXPLETIVES DELETED FOR EVERYONE ELSE'S SANITY] It's a question I haven't
seen..
What is the RMT /tell gil selling situation there?

This is what SE left things open to when they refused to implement some form of priority with regards to age of character or job levels, or indeed anything requiring much effort - especially announcing destination servers so far ahead of the event. It's absolutely appalling that they've laid themselves open to this name-jacking (or indeed that people feel they have to pay out MORE cash to make a mule and hold a name open for themselves). They really shoulda seen this all coming.
 
Indalecia is a dumb name anyways :P

That has got to be one of the best GIFs of all time for expressing the pissed offness that comes w/ this situation. (Same boat as you btw, I know who made a mule w/ my character name, and he is laughing about it) {/fume}
 
The worst part is that its a (now former) member of our linkshell. You know the type of person, she's the one that says "She NEVER gets mad at ANYBODY" and "NEVER holds a grudge" and would "absolutely NEVER do anything to upset another person". That kind of bitch. (I'll let Indy decide if he wants to reveal that persons name).

For the curious, you can go into POL, goto Friend Search, toggle over to "FINAL FANTASY XI" and search for a name. (For those that don't know, this is a great way to see if a mule may have your name as well, better than searching on ffxiah.com). When you pull up a name, you can see all the names attached to that handle, which is how we found out this bitch has his name.
 
Cat; what I heard from a Quetz friend from the LJ group is that they're almost as bad, if not worse.

I wish they'd shut up on midgard tho. Didn't they get the memo? That midgard's days are numbered? *SLAPS the RMT*
 
I don't get the tells very often myself. but idk if its because my name is at the bottom of the alphabet or if they aren't as bad as your reports make them out to be.
 
Prolly since your name's at the bottom of the alphabet, Zaltana. Since mine is at the beginning (Elizara) I get about 5-6 a day on midgard that get though sq. enix's filter. (I blist them)

That's why I wonder if the RMT got the memo about Midgard shutting down...They should give it a rest already. I don't wanna EVER buy gil, thankee, go leave me alone you stupid RMT.

Well the RMT are trying to push their stuff as fast as they can.

The market has been flooded the last week with people unhappy about SE's future plans with the game, so want to get rid of their characters, sellables and gil before they become 'completely worthless'.
As for the rmt tells themselves, perhaps with the server mergings SE should also take the hint that they won't get that many new players doing these trial accounts and completely stop with that crap.
 
Hi everyone. I'll be coming from Midgard, and I was just sitting here thinking...

I am married in game.

My name will have to change on the new server due to someone already having the name.

My name is on my spouse's wedding ring.

Will it change automatically to my new name??? Or will it show he's married to some OTHER person?!

One would think that if you were going to go through all the effort to be a total jerk to someone and steal their name, you would go the simple extra step of creating a new handle to attach the mule to, to avoid discovery. Unless said individual didn't care to avoid discovery...

Thankfully, I created mules to reserve all my names on Quetz about 2 hours after I learned of the merge. Not that I have any enemies... but I do have a few "friends" that would potentially do something like that "to be funny". Some people just suck.

Knowing SE, it won't change, and he'll have a ring bearing someone else's name.

Perhaps you can get married again? Renew your vows on the new server and get new rings?
