No that is NOT! I know Beanie and Nif are in the same boat. Beanie was saying that if the name was wrong on her ring, she was gonna raise Cain with the GMs. (They BOTH have to change their names.)

It may be that you'd have to use the new wedding service and get new rings tho :(. Really SUCKS. It's another reason I think Square should of thought this out a liittle bit better.

Thankfully, I created mules to reserve all my names on Quetz about 2 hours after I learned of the merge. Not that I have any enemies... but I do have a few "friends" that would potentially do something like that "to be funny". Some people just suck.

I'm betting the majority of the name stuff will not be people on Quetz making Midgard names but people who don't like each other on Midgard making mules over here of people they dislike.
 
I've heard of one instance of some people who transferred to Quetz before this started making mules to block some people they hated from keeping their names. But you never know with people, sadly. I was just scared for my name since I'm the one and only Elizara anywhere in FFXI; if someone wanted to pull a mean prank...Even tho I never hurt anyone...Or made a lot of enemies...

Yeah, it's pretty much that. I reserved my name already just to be safe. I can care less about my mules names to be honest, but my main is something that I would seriously be upset if it got taken, which is why I feel bad for Indy. Hell, I've had ls mates joke about taking my name (and I have also had offers from people (three to be precise - and that was back at least a couple of years ago now) asking if I would be willing to sell my character name), so reserving my name was something I wanted to make sure I did.

I'm still hoping we can get Indy's name freed up again soon. I hear the move/merger isn't happening till March 23rd now (Originally heard it was supposed to be tomorrow), so there is still time to try and make contact with her and reason with her, though I think the chances are slim.
 
I'm not believing any dates until I see the sq.enix update. But considering when they're turning off Return to Vana'diel and server transfers, I think it'll be "tomorrow or sometime after that".

I do not think they'll have that off TOO long though. Those do make them monies so..I don't think they'd turn them off for long.
 
Hey Quetz, Dashuto here and it looks like I'll be keeping that name. Glad to join up.

I have to agree it would be messed up if rings changed, but at least you can re-distribute the bands now via wedding NPC so if the GM's decide to be complete douchebags, you can at least salvage a named ring.

I only had Tristams green, white, blue, and red flavors. There's a whole other spectrum of color to choose from.
 
Think it depends on the rings. Is it a matrimony ring/band? Those can have the name removed and resigned if I remember correctly, but idk. Good luck with that.
Soorry for those ppl who lost their names to people purposely fucking them over, how childish.
 
Seems that SE finally realized it would be a good idea to stop new character creation and server transfers to destination servers until the transfer is done. Way too late, obviously.
 
well now we have to take potluck. Anyway I feel kinda sacred and excited at the same time...so lets see how this works..
 
I sort of wish that I still had my account so I could greet Migdard people. =( Guess I'll have to do it on the forums instead. Oh wellz.
 
Now that they turned off chara creation, I asked Nymphadora to delete the name squatter mule. There's no need for it anymore now that you can't create new charas. (That also solves some logistics problems with us.)

Square should of done it sooner, I think most of you will agree with me.

However, after the merge, she's planning on creating a new mule to mess around/play with me, so you'll get to meet her (Tho I think there's a Nymphadora on quetz, or so she thinks, so she won't be able to use her Unicorn chara name)...I'll do a formal intro then. ^^

Welcome to Quetzalcoatl! I couldn't imagine having to give up the identity I've had in FFXI for the last several years. (I can't believe I'm the only Excim server wide...) I feel pretty awful for you guys, and I only hope the transition is made as smooth as possible. So pull up a chair, grab a beer, and settle in. Our home is now your home.
