Too bad Jerome Bettis was a Running back....

Edit: Also, Brock wasnt born huge, he had to work for that body and put on the weight, just like anyone else can. No ones forcing them to fight at a lower weight.

Apparently he didn't actually have to 'work' very hard. He was born to be..

His old coach says it all. He was a big dude at a very young age who was just going to keep getting bigger.. lol

Sorry who?

He's the guy in that picture, hes a big hefty guy that played a position normally played by quicker, much more fit/athletic players. He wasnt the fastest or the most fit, but he was one of the best RBs of all time, and hes among the top in total yards of all time. Hes a future Hall of Famer, it would be totally ignorant to say he was successful only because of his size, theres been tons of fat big RBs that couldnt do what he could.

The point im trying to prove is, having considerable size advantage does not mean a whole lot, while im not a fan of Brock, and i want to see him lose, the fact is all his wins are legitimate, and people who want to take shots at it are just hating.

One more point, if you get into a fight with someone, at any location (I believe ive made this argument earlier), and well if you pin him and use your "size" to hold him down and win the fight and avoid harm, wouldnt you do it? Or would u rather fight to make it look cooler so you can impress/satisfy others?

Edit: Are we watching the same video, in his young days he doesnt look huge lol...

Ahh but this is MMA, you are suppose to welcome a fight, not try win by avoiding it.

This apparently is Lesner at 16 ...

I dont think thats right because he looks (face wise) older, but body wise i remember alot of fellow players on HS football that looked like that around that age, it doesnt seem too far-fetched, regardless you dont just get like that, u gotta work for it.

Well he was athletic, we all know that. But I know a few guys that trump his physique in that pic and they didn't really work all that hard at it. In fact they are not into sports but they work hard for their money. Literally, blue collar labour positions, they weren't aiming to be muscular mad men lol. As his coach said he could never make weight and ate like he was eating for 6. That was when he was young, usually guys have healthy appetites, but it sounds like he was kinda destined to be a big dude.

Lol no worries, thats one of the top 15 Greatest RBs (Statistically) ever.

Cmon now though, hes wearing number 36. Only RBs or DBs can use that number, and he doesnt look like a DB lol, and hes running over a number 92, which can only be worn by the front 7 of a defense.... and fuck.. i watch too much football

nothing wrong with that.

look at Deuce. He rode his size into the endzone just like the bus. He's the Saints all time leading rusher and holds the club record for TDs. They're both power running backs. I remember an old Joke a sports commentator made about him awhile ago.

"What is Deuce wearing when he makes a touchdown? Half the secondary." lol

Morch, youre just being a mad hater lol. You don't get ripped like that by sitting on your ass and not doing anything. Wrestling is crazy intense as far as the training and workouts and i'm sure brock lifts a shitload of weights. And in the video, Brock was tiny up until about 2 mins in when he got to like college. Plus try not just looking and try listening to the video. Its not like he was just handed his NCAA title, he went to junior college first and worked his way up to the championship and had a hell of a close match to win it.

And lol at 'Ahh but this is MMA, you are suppose to welcome a fight, not try win by avoiding it.' Pretty much everyones strategy going into a fight is to pick at their opponents weakness, exploit it, and use it to their advantage. Like your boy GSP, he obviously outclasses everyone in wrestling, so since its mma and he should welcome a fight, maybe he should have just stood with Thiago the whole time and never taken him down, right? About the only person I can think of off the top of my head who goes in fighting to the opponents advantage is Miguel Torres whos a beast for 135, but he also just got his shit rocked.

Look I like brock, i think hes a good guy. Hes a little hot headed but always seems legit in interviews. Personally however, I want Carwin to win the fight. I think Brock has some things to work on to be a better MMA fighter and I would like him to win less based on his size, but I don't think you can discredit him for working to be a huge strong guy with a big temper who beats the shit outta people. Again, hes not breaking any MMA rules, he makes weight, bulks back up just like any other fighter and thats that. Its just to his advantage that the heavyweight division has a much larger spread of weights, its not his fault.

I'm not saying he didn't work somewhat, I'm saying I don't think the man had to work nearly as hard as others. That goes for many men. It's just in their makeup, much like small guys. Genk for instance lol. He would have to bust his ass for years to put on any .. bulk, but other men wouldn't have to work nearly as hard.

As far as welcoming a fight, what I mean by that is if he's such a beast and has such a size benefit why does he not fight? GSP uses multiple techniques to wear down his opponants. That's what I'm waiting on. I'll be a mad hater until the man shows me what he has other than mass. Sorry but it's boring and a waste of money and time to watch his fights.

Well then we can say, everyone in the HW division should just get stronger, they should welcome his size. Get bigger, get stronger, and be a better wrestler to be able to fend off Brock.

Brocks game isnt gonna change until someone makes it change, and when Frank Mir caught him, he said alright i cant do that, i wont let it happen again ill prepare better and look what he did...

Yea I saw what happened.. he mauled him lol.

Idk, yea I'm hating on Lesner, I don't like him as a 'MMA' fighter, because I find it hard to call him such.

Youre just extremely biased is all lol. You dont know his training schedule or how much effort he puts into being his size. Looking at the video he was always a big guy, but never a monster and now he is.

/sobs

I didn't order 102 last night, I was tired of disappointment. The read-up though, FUCK ME it sounds like 'The Natural' fight was epic.. ; ;

Booofuckinghooo man.

I thought the whole UFC was actually pretty damn good. And yeah the couture nogueira fight was pretty good, little slow towards the end when Nogueira was putting the BJJ to randy, but other than that some good solid fights and some nice knockouts.

Randy Couture signs a new contract

Hours before fighting Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira on Saturday night, Randy Couture apparently signed a new 6 fight contract with the UFC. Given that he is 46 years old already, this is essentially a career ending contract, and he isn't that likely to fight six more times before retiring.

Part of the lengthy contract was probably a result of the UFC being scared that Couture might again try to leave to pursue a fight against Fedor Emelianenko, now signed to their rival promotion StrikeForce. Certainly no matter how much Randy's appeal might have diminished recently, a fight with Fedor would still be box office gold for any promotion that held the event. Something that the UFC would prefer to keep under its own banner if it were to ever happen at all.

As for Randy Couture's next fight, nothing is clear at the moment, although he has hinted that he might return to the 205lb division in the future. Certainly he has little chance of getting back to the top of the Heavyweight rankings, and the man who retired him from the 205lb division is for the moment occupied dancing with the stars, and might well be retired. Personally I give Couture little chance of winning much at 205lb either, given how much stronger the division has gotten since he left it. There are also rumors of a fight against Anderson Silva on the horizon, and Couture usually gets the fights that he wants due to his box office appeal. Whether he would be a credible challenge for Silva or just another notch on his ever widening belt can't be said for sure, but most would certainly favor Silva to take the match.

He was going to retire. And now a new contract? I think he wants a shot at Lesner. I think he probably thinks he can take em.

Thoughts??

No way he fights 6 more times, and i really hope he doesnt. I dont see how he can take much more of a beating. One fight i could see is Forrest Griffin Vs. Randy Couture. Both would need that fight very badly, however whoever loses that bout, their career is in serious jeopardy (Coutures likely over)

I want that man to bow out respectfully. I don't care that his fights may not be ending in wins. >.>

He has such class, he will always be one of my favorites.

I really don't see him fighting 6 more times. Especially if he starts losing badly and strings together some losses he will probably end up getting the Chuck Liddell treatment from Dana and be forced to retire or something.

I would be interested in seeing what he can do back at 205. I can't see him doing anything to Lesnar at heavyweight.

Don't think Griffin Vs Couture would ever happen though. Considering Forrest is an Extreme Couture fighter, I really doubt Randy would go against one of his own guys.

Yea i was thinking that but at the same time, this whole "I dont wanna fight my friend" shit is getting old and i bet Dana White is damn near sick of it. I can understand couture getting special treatment but when a guy like Anderson Silva complains he wants better competition but refuses to fight Machida? FFS your under contract get out there and fight
