Monk. Bandwagon Job of 2006

response:

So.. are we saying that monks are good for getting invites now? I've seen alot of them around.. but in my exp pt's rarely have seen one with us. (I try not to build parties anymore)

I've always seen, and realized a decently equipped mnk does astounding damage, and even performs the role well as a tank's reprieve. Their HP, and vitality makes it great for a ninja to get their HP back up when shadows fail suddenly.. and we all know that monk(eys) get mad invites to the 5-1 fight... don't forget the mnk cannons in KRT too...

but, here's my question.
The monks that I know are still complaining they go days without invites... what's up with that, if everyone realizes they're a great DD.... ?

I would say blm and mnk were 2005, and war/nin was 2006...
I think brd is a bandwagon job too... just not widely accepted.. I don't know many people that actually lvl it because they enjoy it...

personal note: I'm finally focusing on my main (blm) and trying to catch up to everyone that has long left me behind during my many distractions.

and my concern is that blu will knock blm back a bit preventing good black mages from getting a party. :shok:
below is information for Tarn:

How is BRD a Bandwagon job Blazn... I don't exactly see a massive amount of BRD's available to PT everywhere.
yeah it is but only for like 4 weeks then they hit 75 its also funny as its true
alot of people lved drk in 2003 for the high damage
so bandwagans change

as long as my thread is still up I might as well say this...
...60WAR/30MNK FTW ~retired
...60MNK/30WAR on teh rise.

The reason why monks have to spend so long lfg is because everyone has a hard-on for distortion and thinks that DD+thf+blm = the best exp there is. I've made a party with 2 monks, no blm or thf and we pulled in 6k/hour easily on my bard against crabs in kuftal. Most people are either unwilling to try a party without the DD+thf+blm setup or don't know that other party setups ever happen; so no one invites monks.

Once a monk hits 70+ and they can go to KRT, then invites tend to come faster, but until then invite rates suck.

BLU is no longer as big a bandwagon job as it used to be--we had a high of 300 BLU online at one point, now there's only ~100 (still a lot, compared to ~30 COR and ~25 PUP).

The true bandwagoners will always make themselves known. People can tell when you're just in it for the loldamage and when you're in it for the love of the job.

I lvled WAR for the loldamage but play it now for the fun and love of the job.

I plan to take MNK and NIN to 75 too so I must be a bandwagoner :p

Tymon you noobcake. roflcopter. admit it, you'll never quit, ever

i personally love mnk. when i first played the game over 2 years ago i was lvlin war and started lvlin mnk when i needed the subjob. i loved it but stuff came about and i quit the game.when i restarted last year i swore mnk would be my first job to 75. i hit 67 last night, so hopefully it wont take too much longer. i know im not the best mnk with the best gear but i play the job the way i think it should be played for my static. i do have some semi good gear for it, i got bb and spartans and wu longs now finally ^^ i use my af because i cant afford to go buy all the high price stuff. if i didnt have a static im sure i wouldnt get many invites for what i do have. i couldnt careless really, i lvl the job cuz i love and not because some endgame thing wants me too. i try to do a /wave to any mnk i see. we are a breed all our own. i would like to try some sort of bones sometime with some fellow mnks. so if anyone is gonna go mess around with something like that send me a /tell ^^

I'll quit when I have nothing left to do in the game. I used to play a MMO called phantasy star online and played that until most of the players had moved on and it was pretty much a deserted field, nothing left to do.

when that happens to ffxi, I'll quit. otherwise probably not.

MNK is just badass. They get the best gear in the game and they make it worthwhile to use that gear. Tarus do backflips and that is sweet. At endgame they get the Spharai, which in endgame equip is one of the most badass pieces of gear to have, and I even named a mule after it. Who was a level 25 MNK, but I had to delete that character to put him on another account so I could play him and my main at the same time so is now a level 1 MNK. Eventually before I quit the game though he will be level 75 with the weapons that he was named after, and as soon as I get another BB I will be on a leveling spree with him.

not even close. if anything at all of any job I would say that WAR gets the most e peen gear. MNK can completely pimp themselves out from sky and KS99 alone.

There is some gear that monk doesn't get that is better, but monk does get some of the best gear in the game, and some of the same gear warriors wear as well. Where the gear comes from doesn't really matter though.

Spharai are actually one of the worst relics in the game in relation to other weapons available. Without the Triple damage occurance, they're barely better than Destroyers. And I mean barely as in down to the HUNDRETHS of a DPS.

You're just saying that because you don't have them.
