I know several females in real life who play this game, and a few who play Star Wars Galaxies.. so WSM's "point" is blown to hell.. yet again.

But, you know, I have never felt so insulted. I never realized that such idiotic behavior ran so deep when people were very bored. WSM I have lost any fragment of respect for you that I may have had.
As for the innitial questioned posed at the begining of this thread:
The gaming industry has been focusing on drawing female players for a very long, long time now. This particular game is very rich in brighter colors as well as story-lines that appeal to women. There is that small touch of 'romance'.. in all of the FF series. My 5 year old sister already has her own gameboy like her brothers. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the generations to come will have a lot more females playing. Tho, bare in mind, like books, movies, etc.. the games that women will be interested in will not always be the same as males -
As far as why I started playing... a friend suggested this game. I've played war-games of siege and pillage.. I've played simes, but what I like most about this game is ..... quests. Personally, it is a bit more group-oriented than I'd like it to be. It's also a bit more competative now than I'd like it to be, but I think that is due to the larger male population. Japan animimation has really gone a long way to focus on what woman want.
But, that's my two cents worth.

*wink wink*I've played several MMORPGs before and this is and always will be my favourite and one of the main reasons is that so many woman play it. It's a nice change to see a proper RPG where it's not just another "who's got the biggest sword, sausage-fest". Female players lend the game an air excitement that this game would lack without them. I'm not a Tarutaru for nothing after all <(^.~)>

This topic...would have been an interesting one...but seeing as how there are people (WSM) who are incapable of trying to have a reall discussion, we have to divert our attention to a whiny, tantrum having child....
Anywho....
The first time I saw the Mithra character was the first time I knew I wanted to make a character and play the game...IMO it was one of the first characters that didn't have an overage of busting out cleavage and ass; and yes, while everyone love T&A, its not something I wanna have to look at 24/7 while playing a game... :lol: I do think the animation of the Mithra is great and they are exceptionally sexy and beautiful, I don't think that it is over done.
I personally was not much of a gamer and then I tried SWG and really enjoyed it...for the person to person interraction...there was something about knowing that there was a real life person on the other end of the keyboard enjoying the same things I did. I am a people person by nature so the fact that a bajillion (an exaggeration) play the game and I have so much interraction with different people everyday keeps me intrigued and involved in the game.
As far as people getting married in the game...who cares...its something they want to do...and its something I am doing also...it just means that someone has had a great connection with someone else in the game...and believe it or not...they have actually probably spoken in RL, via email, ventrillo or maybe even by phone...so I am pretty sure they are confident of the others gender. Getting married in the game is something for the couple that choses to do it, and really none of your business. Everyone enjoys the game in different ways, and some want to experience all aspects of the game...and that doesn't include you judging their every move in it.
If you have had a bad experience with a man playing a female character...get in line...we all have...but you don't see us bitching about it...to be honest, I am wondering if you actually liked it and that is the root of all your rage! Hmmm. Something to ponder for youself there.
I am going to have to agree with everyone else on this post, that you, WSM, are a complete idiot and while I have heard many people say this to me before, I chose to make my own judgement...and well...you did that for me...You are a complete idiot and you have yet to learn the basic people skills you will need to survive in this world. I do hope for you that you learn when to speak and how to put your words into something respectable that people can actually .. 1. Understand (try the dictionary for that spelling and next time when you are in English, pay attention) and 2. that you say something that isn't offensive (even if that is truely how you feel, some things are better left unsaid).
Oh...and I too am I real life woman that is a gamer.
