Let's have a few quotes ...
And bolded for emphasis:
That wasn't in response to me, but I did find it ironic all things considered.
You're right, though, he did get one very obvious thing quite wrong, and that stuck in my mind (and apparently in the minds of others) leading me to take some of his other words with a fair bit of salt. For all I know (I don't exactly stalk his posts) he's been wrong about other stuff too. Or perhaps he hasn't. The example I gave is the one I remember - whether it's 1 out of 1 things he's been wrong about or 1 out of 100 things he's been wrong about, no clue and I'll admit that quite upfront. Such is the nature of an example, it doesn't indicate a relative frequency.
Throw in his lack of reading comprehension (understandable or not, it *is* still present and complicates discussing things with him) and his reactive attitude to empty jibes that any sensible person would ignore (see most Skaw one-liners). I *think* (could be remembering wrong) that he's also not too keen on considering the viewpoint from the opposing side of the argument, but such a lack of objectivity is *hardly* unique to him (it's present in the vast majority of internet arguments after all).
I don't think he's a moron and as I said before and apparently need to say again, I don't think he bought his account and I don't think he's RMT. I do, however, think that he's not the easiest person in the world to have a discussion/argument/debate with for a variety of factors, many of which I've explained above. (EDIT: I still don't have a beef with him and am quite willing to listen to his arguments, I'm just pointing out that it's a bit more difficult to discuss things with him than with others.) And while I won't write off everything someone says just because they had a blatant error in the past, I'm sure as hell not going to take *other* things they say at face value. Doesn't mean that I assume they're wrong, just means I don't assume they're right, and therefore I want backup information.
