A Snickers commercial got pulled off the air in Brittan because it somehow offended gay people. I don't see why, but whatever. Mr T defends the ad on the Bill O'Reilly show.

Scroll down and click "See Mr T's interview..."

I can't stop laughing. Every time he speaks I giggle like a little girl. The best part is his "letter to his fans." After he turns the page, you can see it was written in marker.

I don't know who thought it was a good idea to let Mr T speak for himself, but it is glorious.

I can see why it got pulled. It's pretty fucking pathetic on their part, and not the first time they've used homophobia in an ad. Snickers has been my candybar of choice for as long as I've been eating chocolate, and I pretty much stopped buying them because of their recent advertising trends.

I laughed because it was Mr. T, but I certainly don't mind that it was pulled.

I'll put it in spoiler, but I swear it's nowhere near homophobic. It's actually reeeally fucking funny.

Spoiler:

"Reading" his letter cracked me up... I felt like I'd gone back to grade school when kids read their essay's and it's as if they have no idea what the next two words are that are coming up.

I called... him a ... disgrace!

lol That commercial is no where near homophobic

Let's see... hideous gay stereotype of a prissy man walking around, being called a disgrace to masculinity... and then shot at. Fuck, you're right. Nothing gay people might find objectionable in it.

Coupled with the Super Bowl ad about the mechanics who think they're better off dead than gay, you can see why I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt on this one.

This just in: All gays power-walk and are prissy?

Seriously man, should I be offended that he was white? I could understand if he was making out with another guy and the exact events were happening, but this is so far off that Stretch Armstrong's arms would bust trying to reach it.

Honestly, have you ever seen anybody power-walk? That's the only way anyone can look while doing it, black, white, gay, straight, prissy, masculine, etc. Try it I dare you.

you would know:wink:

I pity you fool!

If it was an actual gay guy then yeah, but that's how speed walkers walk. Just like Mr.T said, he pity's fools all the time and this is the first time they had a problem with it.

Feel free to point me to the evidence that the guy in the ad isn't gay. Not that it really matters if he's gay or straight, because it still reinforces the same tired stereotypes about effeminate gay men and how real men have to put 'em down. Real men, Snickers and Mr. T tell us, don't act that way.

If you don't buy into that interpretation, that's fine. But some people expressed amazement that anyone could be offended by the ad and wondered what was wrong with it. I gave you the explanation. What you do with that knowledge is up to you.

Point me to the evidence that he is gay. If anything you're the one stereotyping that guy for walking "gay." If 9/10 straight people think it looks straight and the 10th is just bicurious, why are you trying to pin homosexuality on this guy? Is this like some twilight zone Anti-Gay Gay campaign?

He doesn't have to actually be gay. He just has to be perceived as gay with the swishy walk being an affront to masculinity that requires being attacked to set him "straight."

Right, which only you and a few select over-achieving gay activist groups seem to be perceiving. So, if someone is gay, they can't walk funny or the straighties will look at them wrong and therefore they must be banned from viewing.

If you want I can dissect the video from it's commercial properties to a cultural standpoint as well.

If you listen to what he's saying in the video he actually states, "Do it again slacker, and there's gonna be trouble." Now correct me if I'm wrong, but "slacker" isn't a sexually oriented slur last time I checked. Also, there's the term "Man Race." Aren't homosexual men, still men? So, in conclusion he's telling the person to kick it up a notch and get a harder workout. Are you saying that you'd like every gay person to be lazy underachievers?

By the way is it lonely up there on that cloud of yours?

Nope. I've got plenty of company to keep me busy. Clearly enough people had a problem with it to get the ad pulled. Be happy you can watch it on YouTube to your heart's content.

And like I said before, I'm not demanding anyone see the same things in the ad that I see. I didn't call for a national boycott or protest in front of the candy factory. I just thought Yeah, that's kinda fucked up and went on with my day.

I'm not sure why you're getting so aggravated that somone might interpret the same commercial in a different way.

I like how you're trying to come off as oh so Mr. Innocent now when all I did was post the video for the thread to see, and you commented back on it bashing the other views. If by "went on with my day" you mean "started a debate backed with sarcasm towards the general public and hoped no one would respond to it" then yeah, I guess you did.

I'm not playing Mr. Innocent. I'm playing Mr. Gay Guy Answering a Question About Perceived Homophobia In An Ad, since someone wondered why someone thought it was offensive. I said a few posts ago that the Snickers ad is open to interpretation. If you're sitting around waiting for me to tell you my way is the only way to look at it, I hope you packed a lunch 'cause you'll be sitting around waiting a long time.

Nobody asked you or anybody else anything at all, Mr. Gay Hero.

Man, you really suck at this. lol
