Mr T, being amazing

It's in the first post. I'll give you a hint: "A Snickers commercial got pulled off the air in Brittan because it somehow offended gay people," Pasquale said. "I don't see why, but whatever."

There's the jumping off point to discuss the reason why it got pulled, which I took since I don't like the ad. This is the second time Snickers has had to drop an ad from that agency over the same thing. One of the agency's car commercials come under similar fire.

I'll clarify that my complaint isn't against Mr. T. I love the guy and don't think he's a homophobe. I believe he's sincere when he says he wouldn't do an ad if he thought it would be perceived that way.

I can see why it got pulled. It's pretty fucking pathetic on their part, and not the first time they've used homophobia in an ad. Snickers has been my candybar of choice for as long as I've been eating chocolate, and I pretty much stopped buying them because of their recent advertising trends.

I laughed because it was Mr. T, but I certainly don't mind that it was pulled.

Done.

Or is it?

Let's see... hideous gay stereotype of a prissy man walking around, being called a disgrace to masculinity... and then shot at. Fuck, you're right. Nothing gay people might find objectionable in it.

Coupled with the Super Bowl ad about the mechanics who think they're better off dead than gay, you can see why I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt on this one.

^ completely unprovoked

Didn't want to get into this, but, you stopped buying your favorite candy bar just because of the commercials? I think most Twix commercials are stupid, but I still buy Twix and love them.

I bet if the commercials made fun of your RDM meleeing in errant pants you'd stop. j/k ilu

I don't find the commercial offensive personally, I think its kinda funny. I can see where some would get offended by it though. Homosexuals (just like every other group besides white protestant men, basically) have endured a lot of harassment and tormenting. When stuff like that has been common place, you tend to look for attacks and sometimes make mountains out of molehills or just take things out of context.

Not just the mechanics ad, but also for the non-apology from the company after they pulled it and then this follow-up. I wouldn't care if the ads were just stupid, as opposed to actively offensive.

Not really. My initial post didn't outline what was offensive about the ad. After reading "Nothing homophobic about it" a few times, I elaborated.

Even if the commercial was offensive to me, I still wouldn't stop eating the candy bar. Maybe it's just me.

OK OK OK OK! Stop the crying at each other right now, seriously take it to the flame board?

I can see why it could be perceived as offensive and I do agree with it being slightly homophobic and like Hali said enough people had to be upset with it to get it removed. Lets stop bashing each other for opinions?

Yes because you felt the need to somehow protect the gay community all by yourself on an internet forum, that would be my point if you missed it.

EDIT: Alger, it's ok man, nobody's crying. I'm just really bored whenever I check my User CP lol

I've seen gay men power clean (the lift, not actual cleaning >.>) more in the gym than straight guys.

I've seen straight guys speed walk even more flamboyantly than the guy in the video.

Mr. T. was making fun of speed walking not homosexuals.

I pity the foo' who can't take a joke.
