Lionsheart is also POST 60. That is what you're missing here. So Assassin kicked in and guaranteed the TA to hit, but was the SA guaranteed? More tests you're using the friend defense here.
Edit: Where is him using SA? He said he did TA, but I don't see that Sneak Attack going off. He also wasn't under Hide when he did the TA. His experiment there was kind of useless.
Edit 2: BTW read the other edit I had made on the post you quoted.
I've known Lionsheart since I saw him soloing Bloodtear Baldurf over 2 years ago...I understand assassin and that he didn't use SA. Sorry if I sounded confusing by saying a first provoke isn't needed for SATA/Hide.
What I'm argueing here, is that Hide worked.
Normally after pulling, you would get the message saying you're spotted - from failing to use Hide properly. However, Lionsheart only aggro'd the monster - he didn't use a ranged attack or anything offensive to pull the crab. Therefore, Hide worked.
The trick attack was used -only- because the NPC cannot provoke/pull hate.
The experiment covered exactly what the thesis arguement was all about. Would you be able to hide after aggroing a monster that tracks by sound? Lionsheart said it would work and provided evidence.
I'm sorry if I sounded like I was belittling you by saying you haven't played the job. No offense there, even because I was unsure this would work. Basically, this is all a misunderstanding and you're chasing a different arguement.
