My Account was Hacked :(

Did I say it was you who said that? It's not always about you, Uzor.
It was a response to my post. One can thus assume it was a question directed towards me. Unless the way US works is different than the Swedish way of "who you look at is the one you ask a question to".

Seriously, you don´t look at one person while asking a question to another one. And I doubt you wrote a statement, as can be seen by the obvious use of a question mark.

See, no question mark. The dot represents something. I'll let you figure out the rest.:omg:

Something very interesting happened to me yesterday, I have my pw saved and it wasent there, so I decided to type in text edit the complete alphabet then started copy-pasting all the letters and numbers, just incase.

You know, for a guy that always says people don't read things properly..

I was just using you to respond to other people, Uzor. You really need to get down from that high horse of yours. It's not always about you.

Also, Uzor. Heres a quote from a movie I tend to use a lot.

"Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups."

Its no more SE's fault then it is the hacked's fault.

Its the hackers fault it happened. But you can safeguard yourself by not being a moron. You all completely took things out of perspective. Sending something to SE won't fix it. They aren't the police. Safeguard yourself.

As I've said numerous times but you keep skipping over this and coming back to saying Uzor and I are placing fault with you...this has been happening for years. Who was the #1 Checked person on FFXIAH.com 4 out of the last 14 days before it was shutdown?

That's right, Jamal. I wasn't checking myself, someone obviously was. I'm arguably one of the most consistantly profitable weekly characters, as well as the most efficient damage dealer in the game. My friends have great gear and gilmaking abilities, yet they're not hacked.

If you take a convertible to downtown Gary IN, leave it there, it will get stolen. Go to the police, and they'll laugh in your face for being a fucking moron. The world is not white-bred suburbia...especially the internet. Take necessary precautions, or don't fucking whine when you get hacked. Don't play the woe is me card. True, its not your fault, I may have used that phrasing earlier, but that was not my intent. My apologies for that. But it is a preventable offense, which oddly only a few people seem to see. Rather than blaming SE for not following guidelines they've had for years, do the best you can to safeguard yourself.

While I have to agree with you on certain parts, Jamal. Some of it is a little paranoid. No one saw a keylogger coming in through Realplayer. Marajade takes all the need steps on his computer and he got it. He uses Firefox and has decent firewalls.

If anything, being prepared for something like this would be like putting bars, barbed wire, bullet proof glass, and Electric wires on a small ass window cause you're expecting a Midget to break in your house.

Yes, this is the internet and people need to take the measures to make sure they don't get hacked/jacked but you can only do so much. Like I said, Marajade wasn't an idiot when it came to this stuff. Yet, he still got hacked.

Being prepared for this is no more than locking your car door and parking in a safe neighborhood at night. Its not rocket science to not allow scripts on a website that is using actual game specific character information. Is it surprising it happened at FFXIAH and with Realplayer? Sure. Does that give you an excuse to say you figured it would be protected? I would say no for reasons I've explained already.

Thank you for actually reading the entire post, rather than fragmenting it like certain Tristam's like to do.

But what if the condom breaks?

This is where the rootkit comes in as it will scan for things that a normal scanner wouldn't scan for.

Don't just use the quick scan. Scan the whole thing every file every time. If you have to set up your computer to alert you when something goes on if you're using internet explorer or even firefox.

Yes Trippy I realize I am quite compulsive on scanning, but CC info does get put onto my laptop as well as other information so I try to make sure if there is a virus on here it gets nuked to hell and is gone.

I do use a rootkit, and I actually scan my pc more often than you do. With 3 virus scanners and 2 spyware products plus the weekly rootkit scan. I understand being compulsive with your pc. However, that doesn't mean that everyone does or that everyone should be expected to.

I don't. The Bureau is a highly effective tool. Is Square-Enix USA based in San Francisco? You could even file a report with their Chamber of Commerce on the horrific customer service you're getting.

I had to do the exact same things with a company around here.

Awesome suggestion!^^

Do you have the ability to be empathetic at all or has that ability been completely snuffed out by your need to be right and better than everyone else? :(

So, hopefully I can get around to filing a complaint with the BBB tomorrow. I know several people are skeptical about its effectiveness, but I guess it can't hurt.

youre welcome. and here i am sitting here thinking that everyone skipped over my post.

I can show empathy sure. Not when people are running around blaming SE for their own mishaps. If you post on here saying you made a mistake and admit fault, I'm much more willing to show empathy than if you're always trying to pass blame on someone else.
Some things happen in this world that are out of our control. This isn't one of them.
Its not a need to be right. I don't post in every thread. I didn't post in this one until things got out of hand in my opinion. When there's glaring mishaps I'll post, this thread and Kisada's have made people pass blame to SE for their own short-sidedness. I'm simply expressing the thought and feeling that doing this isn't the best idea. If people put half the thought and concern into personal internet safety as has been put into the petition there would be no need for a petition.

Jamal, one thing you seem to forget with your car analogy is that cars will get stolen no matter where they are and no matter what type of anti theft shit is on it. It could be parked anywhere with all sorts of shit but it can and will be stolen no matter what.

Of course, insurance and shit helps covers for stolen cars and most nice cars now adays have those trackers and shit installed so you can get them back.

The condom analogy works best because no matter what a condom can break or a woman can get pregnant because there is only a 97% chance of it being fully effective. Just like most firewalls and ad blockers won't get everything, neither will a condom. Though one could argue the best way to prevent someone from getting pregnant is to not have sex and that could be used here but then we wouldn't be playing this game and you wouldn't have a place for your rather large Ego to chill if we all weren't playing it.

in Saudi .. we cut off thief hand when they steal something ;p

Maybe the hacking isn't SE's fault but their reaction to the situation is their fault. They certainly could have handled this situation better. I don't think I've ever seen a case of such piss-poor customer service from any other company, although I'm sure it has happened elsewhere if not often.

Fault can also be assigned to the hackers, their employers, and of course the gilbuyers.

You said shit 4 times in your post. Thats 3 times too many. -5 points for arguing.

They could have sure, but they're not obligated to. Would it be nice for them to have a more investigative stance? Yes. But they haven't in 4 years, and have made tons of money from user subscriptions of those who are somehow dissatisfied. Customer Service is just one part of business...and by continuing paying for the product, you are proving to them that the service they are giving is adequate.
If you really want to make a point, stop paying for services, and put your account on hold. I'm sure everyone signing the petition would agree with you to do it. In the grand scheme of things, it will be what, 100 people that would actually try to do this? SE won't flinch at that number. So why would a petition make anymore difference.

I'm sure if everyone on this board canceled their account for 1 month, it would put a huge dent into SEs pocket, thus forcing change.

I would do it, I have nothing to lose lol.

'If'

Yes, 'IF' EVERYONE did it...prove me wrong. I say you couldn't even get a majority.
