(For those who may read too far into the following, I am agreeing with the Admin on this here debate.)
Then it's a question of whether or not the PM would've been removed had nobody said anything, and will we get a definitive, honest answer about this?
Maybe it was Miros who asked for it to be removed, and, oh wait, Miros answered the question! They are still members of the community, they just have more power than us. Perhaps Miros took offense to the PM and removed it. Just because you don't see the legal jargon of it all doesn't mean jack shit.
Hi, theres no rule about posting PMs on the flameboard as of
this thread
Consistency.
If it can offend someone, then it can be removed, Miros just has the power to do it on the fly.
Although I do agree this is a "baww" thread, there are a few valid points.
1. The removal of posts. FFXI-AH has the right idea, where comments are hidden if rated-down. I don't know if it can be instituted on QCDN, but if hiding PC+1's and not just *poof* deleting them is possible, it would appease both sides. It would make the FB seem cleaner while allowing the people who bitch and moan about them being deleted to stop bitching and moaning.
2. PM's vs. /tells being deleted. Neither is more apt to deletion than the other, IMO. They are the same in my book, and here's why they remain up: the party being flamed by said PM or /tell is going to whine about it, no shit, but it's when said PM or /tell offends a 3rd party that it becomes an issue. If it didn't offend you, that's all well and good, but quite frankly, that doesn't matter. The people who are offended by it will always take priority over the people who aren't. (see Pledge of Allegiance debate and the like (oh no! RL?!?! >.>))
3. Finally, thread locking. Overall, I disagree with thread locking, though there are obviously extreme cases. It sucks for those of us who wished we could have contributed to a thread but didn't see it in the day it was up. Hell, I know with all the PC+1's and double-posts (aka Skaw in this thread) I'm too tired to post a reply half the time. That's why I'm fucking glad they're deleting that shit. But anyway, point on hand, thread locks, I feel, should be up to the Admin, not the Mods. Let the Mods edit, but meh on locking. (For the record, I'm not offended by any of the locked thread thus far, they're just fine...keep it that way and we're cool =P)
So all in all, as many have said before, you have no power to fight the Admins head-on. Take a tactful, non-offensive approach and something might just fucking happen. You fight with fire, expect fire back. Will this post matter? Maybe, maybe not, but I made suggestions of things that could better the site without offending people (Besides using Skaw as an example, because IMO, he's beating a dead horse with his double-posts) on either side of the debate in a peaceful, civilized matter.
