So we already know that there are two new job classes coming. One is Blue Mage, while the other is Corsair. But I (and I'm sure many others) am thinking that there are more coming. The reasoning for this will be explained in this post.

Here is the image of the jobs so far in the ToAU site (from playonline.com, not the POL Viewer)
toau_regular.jpg

That's a pretty big gap in between the two of them. And when Blue Mage was added, it seemed like a lot of space to add more before Corsair came along. Now I modified the image to add three new jobs. (Note: Corsair is there twice just because of quick Photoshop editing of the image)

This does look very reasonable for the three, and sounds it too because of Rise of the Zilart adding three new jobs to the game. But there's one last thing to look at. And this is the possibility of four new jobs being added.

The way the spacing is and everything just looks like it's right. Of course this is just a guess, but I'm still thinking this is possible. The thing is what are they going to be? Everyone has guesses and wishes.

My guess about when we're going to find out is next week during the FFXI Fan Festival. They've already announced a release date for the game, a few of the new areas, and a few other big things. I'm guessing at least one new job will be announced between either 10am-12pm, and/or 8 and 9pm PST on the 10th, since on the schedule it says "Special announcement". Although they still might not announce it all at the Festival. While it seems like something they could do, it doesn't seem like something they would do. I guess we just have to wait and see.

Didn't RoZ add four jobs, you just didn't require the expansion for one?

Well, visually, the four-job screenshot looks much more fitting. I'm still rooting for Geomancer ^^

Thats really neat. I figured that to, that they might put a 3rd job in the middle, but never thought of a fourth. Definitly a possablity tho.

i hope its 4, new jobs make the economy speed up(inflation faster but still inflation doesnt hurt u much when u are paying 4k from npc to sell at ah for 40k and can sell 20 an hour... its just boring) but wee go dancer(if i saw this i would cry...) and necromancer(so out of theme, but it is cool)

2 words.....Time Mage.

that is all.

I'd guess it's three jobs total. My reasoning for it is mainly through Dynamis.

One of the NM's in Dynamis is a combination of three jobs, wears the AF of three different jobs on the body, and have the 2-hours abilities of those three jobs. Also spawn mobs of those three jobs.

but it is possible that four jobs will come though :P Personally I think three seem more logical ^^;

Well, yes and no. They releases SMN slightly before the release of RoZ as a kind of "try out"

If three jobs are added, we can have an alliance with every job. :P

Ok well the Blue mage is just that. The Corsair is the Gambler.

What about the Knight? People always say they wouldn't mind another tank job. I think they could work that into the game without it being too much like the warrior class, and so that the Knight wouldn't be a paladin copy don't give him magic. I think something along the lines of different fighting stances would be cool. Much like the monk has guard, counter-stance, dodge, and chakra. Give the Knight the ability to parry, ram, "provoke", plus I think it would be cool to have a class where, like a samurai gains more TP from connecting hits, a knight would gain extra TP from getting hit.

Also there is the Mime. I think that a mimic would be awsome to play. Just one of my favorite classes after white mage, blue mage and samurai. Imagine being able to follow any weapon skill with the same weapon skill. Or you can have up to 5 weapon skills learned at any time, level permitting, to use to complete that skill chain you need for the big burst.

Still you have the alchemist, and geomancer. I say put the two classes together and you would have one hell of a healer/DD mage. Could possibly rival the white mage for healing spots, and DD spots of black mage. I say make it like ninjitsu. You would have certain items that you would need to cast your spells, but the area you are in would change the effects of said spell. Also the current day would add or detract from the potency of specific spells that you are casting. That might be too complex for most people that play this game though.

Time mage I like but can't see it working too well in this game. White mage and red mage already have most of the good time mage spells, stop and what ever the "do-over" spell was called, I just don't see working too well. Maybe for a few things they could be nice, but it would seem a bit over powered if you could stop a gob from throwing the bomb every time, or get a redo if you wipe. Maybe if that was the time mage two hour move it would be cool. Fighting a HNM, wipe, time mage uses rewind, or what ever you want to call it, and you get the chance to go back a few minutes in the fight. All abilties and spells used after the rewind point would be usable again.

I don't know just a few things I was thinking about.

The Wildcats Quests on the 4 cities, the NPCs mention too much about alchemy and how it's far superior over in the far east, as well as the ability to create monsters out of it. I wouldn't be surprised if ...

as long iam getting new toys for my drk ... i dont care abot the new jobs

I just want jobs that will take the emphasis off finding a nin or pld to tank, rdm or brd to refresh, and a whm to heal. parties are so close minded about pt set-ups because we found a set-up that works and dont want to change it... If it evened out the need for all the jobs, that would be the ideal thing. Then you could have drg's in a party (O.o)

Alchemy in parties would be so sweet. I just imagined Edward Elric hanging around Jeuno with his party-flag up. :D

I don't really see Alchemist becoming a new job... but it could be possible.. hmmm

Rise of zilart only added 3 I think, not sure about SMN. I can not tell if that was released before RoZ, and by how much. As part of the notes on the back of RoZ , it mentions unlocking all the summons. Well except for Fenrir and Diabolos. Definetly expect 1-2 more jobs though. The developers said Treasures is mainly going to be high end content and the new jobs will be for the lowbies... So 4 makes sence in keeping people busy.

There will never be a time mage. White mage also knows slow & Haste and theyre not going to give anyone stop or petrify ever. Theres no use for a Time Mage in this game

DRG, NIN, and SAM were added with Rise of Zilart. SMN was around but didn't have any avatars other than Carbuncle and the Elements I believe (light, dark, water, wind, earth, fire, ice, and thunder). When RoZ came out I believe that's when they added the other avatars (Ifrit, Leviathan, Shiva, Garuda, Ramuh, and Titan). I figure this because they stated that the new jobs in RoZ were SAM, NIN, and DRG and I figure those 6 avatars weren't around because all of them are in RoZ areas.

looking at the time gap between when blue mage was officially announced, and corsair, i'd guess that there's only 1 more job being added (and will be announced right around april)

there's no use for DRG and they added that job!

i joke i joke

Dancer 4tw!

I'd totally take Dancer up to 75 if they add it

If you look at the two jobs so far, we have BLU, the BLM alternative. COR, the BRD / RDM alternative. So that leaves two options, a PLD / NIN alternative, or a WHM alternative. Alchemist would be a fine WHM alternative, assuming it's not more expensive than Hojo to Cure II someone, and with some work, Time Mage could be a tank.

Just think about it. They can Slow the enemy down to where he's barely hitting at all, Haste themselves for more attacks thus more hate, forms of Stop as an enfeeble-based Stun and hate boost, a good rating in xxx and shield as well as decent armor, throw some JAs in the mix, it'd be sort of NIN in reverse. Rather than reducing the number of hits you take through shadows, reduce them by slowing them down.

Obviously this would take a back seat to PLD and NIN in HNM fights, but it still gives TIM a reason to be in the game. If a few Cure spells and heavy armor can tank, why not this?
