Hi, guys. I just wanted to air you in some of my personal life (if you care..if not that's cool.) Yesterday some mad drama happened between my mother and I. She was given the impression she was going to be watching my child this morning, when we had already planned for my inlaws to watch her while me and the wife were at work.

Long story short..she flipped. She went to my place of work, and while I was processing a return with a customer she grabbed me by my nametag and said "I need to talk to you." I told her, "Mom..I need you to leave. We can deal with this when I get off. I am at work right now." She didn't appreciate that too much, so she was on a mission to get me fired. She left the store and told me she would see me in court. (She was speaking of Grandparent Visitation rights.) I apologize to my patrons I currently have in the store whom witness this and wished them all a good day.

I go to the admin office to get some paperwork done (process returns, etc.) and I am aware my mother is in the store again. She asks one of my associates where I was at and making a big scene; a customer asks her if she could take it somewhere else (I heard from a co-worker anyway) and she tells the guy "Fuck you. Get out of my business!".

My supervisor calls 911 to get someone to the store, because she felt threatened and wanted to make sure something was done to remove her from the store; it's not good for business and also puts the staff and customers at a risk. Anyway, while she is on the phone with 911 my mom comes up to the phone, yanks the phone jack out of the phone and calls her names. Supervisor calls the police back and are inroute to the store. Mom shortly leaves the store before the phone call is completed, and she drives off.

Cops show up, have me and the supervisor give testimonies and I point out I have video footage of the incident. They view it and are concerned with the fact of the phone being disconnected while being on the phone with someone from 911; which is a felony in the state of Florida.

This morning, I get a call from the deputy who told me she was arrested this morning on a $5,000 bond.

Now, a part of me feels bad for this whole deal and a part of me is glad she got what she did because I feel she needs to realize what she did was against the law and not acceptable.

The police have told her when she arrested that it wasn't me that got her arrested; the state was pressing charges on her for tampering with a witness. However, I am constantly getting harassed via MySpace and text messages from that side of the family blaming me for the arrest.

So I leave you with this:

How is it MY fault someone broke the law and got arrested?

Why would she be referring to grandparent visitation rights? It's not like you told her to stay away from your kids, you just had someone else watching them while you were busy.

Your mom is nuts dude, sorry to say.

I believe that was an act of desperation. I let her see the baby often. What she really needs to realize is that my child is MY kid. Not hers. She's in a bad place right now and I just have to keep hoping for her.

I am sorry your family is being a bunch of douches and blaming you for your mom's poor decisions. I don't see why people do crazy shit like this though. It never helps anything and just causes tense situations. It also puts you in the position because she acted this way you might 2nd guess ever letting her watch the kids alone becuase you are scared she will do something stupid like this again. Just hang in there dude and just tell the rest of the family to fuck off if they get too annoying.

tbh I find this strange. No one in their right mind would blame you for getting her arrested, especially as you're her son, unless there's more to the story that you're not telling, or unless your entire family on your mother's side is nuts.

I get the impression that there is a lot more drama behind the scenes here so it's hard to comment on it lol. She might be a crazy but maybe not.

Or we could just take it at face value as jealousy he chose to let his wifes parents watch the child in this one instance, that resulted in a pretty illogical action.

I left nothing out. I am telling you all how it is; now whether you believe me or not is a different story in it's own. My mom is on a lot of pain meds (Not sure which ones) and gets depos from time to time. That might be the case, might not be. Dad has blocked my car in while I am in the store sometimes and tries to follow me home.

This right here is very creepy. When parents start doing stuff like this and freaking out on you in public over minor issues. It is time to maybe consider moving them to a old folks home. I am sorry I posted that, but It seems that they are getting to the point where they aren't just endangering themselves, but others as well. If you think it is the meds they are on. You might want to get in touch with their doctor and see if he can put them on something else and maybe that will fix some of these issues. Your parents are acting creepy and insane atm dude. I would be careful if I was you...

Wow, I just found parents that are worse than mine. Sorry to hear about this and I hope it fixes itself soon.

I don't mean with your story, I mean in the past.

Well, to put it quite bluntly, my dad has always been on my case and not a very supportive person. Never had a close relationship with him; never have any great memories of my dad. He was just a guy who always was negative with me and unsupportive.

My mother, can be kind sometimes, but I feel that my dad manipulates her to do/say some things that aren't in good taste.

In all honesty, the reason I started playing FFXI was to get me to do something as an "escape" from RL. I still remember living at my parents house, isolated in my room to get away from them. Then, I met my current wife and started going out the house some more, and we dated for a while and I moved out with her after we got married. They didn't like this.

Parents felt as though I abandoned them; maybe they were upset because they had no control over me? I don't know.

Anyway, before I get off topic, this has been an ongoing thing from aeons ago. We never had a big family; never had family get-togethers. The value of family was not even discussed in my family. When I started dating my current wife; I was in shock. I was introduced to family..the value of it and it scared the living hell out of me.

You may think I'm sugarcoating my side of it, but I wish I was making all of this up.

No, no, I know what that's like. I'm living with a friends I /met/ through FF who lived a good three hours or so from my parents' place. I got thrown out just after midnight one night for trivial reasons and was basically taken in here.

One of my roomates' parents was like "Why can't he just make amends and go home?" I guess until you've seen a close-knit family (or the opposite, seen one that's held together with band-aids and rubberbands) its hard to really understand someone else's homelife.

Its still a shock when I see families that compliment and support each other. Totally unlike what I went through, and sounds like you, too.

You should write to your Mothers side of the family and tell them what you told us, how it was her own doing she got arrested, then ask them all, why would you ever want to put your own Mother in jail ?

You probably already did all of that, but if they deny you, then let them go. They were never important to you to begin with, which should make things easier for you and your own Family.

Are you kidding me?

Sorry that just kinda shocked me.

My best friends family I believe is very much like both Danny and Lyall's.

I am from a very close knit family. Family values have been instilled in me my entire life. Between numerous Aunts and Uncles, both blood and family friends turned family, 1st and 2nd cousins and on. I have been blessed for sure with my family! I really do believe it.

So it wasn't hard for me to recognize the difference in true values in my best friends family. How they treated each other and the negative attention and lack of outwardly compassion and support. Being that I love her as if she were my own sister, she has been part of my family for several years. My family considers her family, ALL my family that has grown to know her welcomes her as family.

I can understand what it is you feel. I also know that for some it would be sooo much more difficult to say to yourselves 'I don't need them'. Seeing how difficult it is for my friend to finally take a stand in her own life to put a stop to the control and negative affect her family has on her.

Distance between yourself and harmful evils in your life is best, even if it is immediate family.

I hope this works itself out.

Just to add, I was shocked when I first read the op. I was shocked to learn of your seemingly cold front against what happened, whether it be at your place of work or not. Having read more into the thread I think I understand why. It would be difficult for me at first to understand how anyone could watch such an event happen surrounding their parents and be so distant and almost applaud it happening, but that's because of what I came from.

Again, I really hope things work out for you. I truly hope the with some time, even years, they come to know that you are such an important piece of their lives and work to have a more meaningful and loving relationship with you and your family. If not, and you make a happy life for yourself without them.. then they may pass regretful... and that's a crying shame.

That would a great idea if they weren't all deceased..and yes, Morcheeba..I'm serious.

Your mother made the choice to have this very public display, and she must now deal with the consequences. Its unfortunate, and ultimately it will probably not make anything better as far as your relationship with anyone on that side of the family. However, there is nothing you can do about it. You weren't the one that called the cops, you're not pressing charges.

Speaking as a parent, I would not feel comfortable leaving my child alone with someone who exhibited that type of behavior. It is potentially harmful to your child. At the very least, you child will witness how irrationally your mother (and father?) behaves and think that its okay to do the same thing. It is not okay.

Best of luck to you. Its a really crappy situation. =/

Thank you for the comments everyone. It really is a pick me upper hearing your guys' stories and comments..makes me realize I'm not in the wrong. I just feel terrible and responsible for putting my own mother in jail..but hey, it is what it is.

For those of you in a close-knit family, cherish it! Not all of us are that fortunate to share the joy of having a family that cares and supports you.

You aren't respsonible at all dude. She is the one who made the idiot decisions. It isn't like you had it all planned out to make her snap and go to jail. She just lost it and now she is paying for it. I am sorry she made you look bad in public though. It is cool that you kept your cool during all of this.
