I think that's the only real issue here. Pot isn't the worst thing in the world, it's on the level of tabacco/alchohol really. Howerver it's foolish to think it's not bad for you.
It's not that users think that it's not bad for us, it's just not as bad as things like alcohol, cigarettes, McDonalds™, Driving a car, or Extra Italian Dressing on a Hoagie. Living is bad for you. As a matter of fact, eventually, it's gonna kill ya.
There's a good chance I'll end up trying weed at least once at somepoint in my life. So it's not like I think it's anything evil. But the fact is, that signature is a lie.
I don't believe it is. Marijuana is the only recreational drug I can think of that can't cause an overdose through recreational use. If you read what I have already posted (not calling anyone lazy, that first one was like 18 pages printed... I made my mom read it) you will see that I there is evidence that mariuana does not cause cancer. As for killing someone while operating a vehicle, I'll get to that.
If I smoke up, start driving, and end up getting myself killed, could we change the number on the sig to one?
Marijuana does not affect a person like alcohol does on any level. If I was going to compare it to something, I would compare it to the first drag I ever took off of a cigarette. People don't wreck cars and kill people because they are under the influence of Nicotine, or Caffine for that matter. Those are both considered psychoactive substances. It doesn't alter your vision or your balance in a way that would be detrimental to something like walking or driving.
In fact this for leagalizing page claim there were 138 pot related deaths, while I'm sure this'll end up being a lowball number (If you're high and do a hit-and-run, never gonna be counted, being illegal, if you develop lung cancer you might lie and say you only smoke tabacco, etc..)
The only deaths I can even think of that would be remotely related to marijuana use would be people that are shot by the police if they do somethin stupid, like resist or run away.
Protip for smokers: The police really do take your cooperation into consideration. Be nice, there job is hard enough as is. Everyone already hates them because they have to arrest people for victimles crimes, like drug use.
Good find. I would argue, much the same as the admin of that site, that if marijuana was a contributing factor in any of those deaths, it would show up on the records more than one or two times. There are a LOT of people that smoke pot.

"The cause-of-death section consists of two parts. Part I is for reporting a chain of events leading directly to death, with the immediate cause of death (the final disease, injury, or complication directly causing death) on line (a) and the underlying cause of death (the disease or injury that initiated the chain of events that led directly and inevitably to death) on the lowest used line. Part II is for reporting all other significant diseases, conditions, or injuries that contributed to death but which did not result in the underlying cause of death given in Part I."
So, in essence, a death could be attributed to marijuana use in this type of scenario: someone gets high, walks in front of a car and thus: "because he got high, he was discombobulated and walked in front of a car. The "immediate" cause of death would be hit by car, while the "underlying" cause of death would be because he got high.
Not to mention the categories in that page were:
Mental and behavioural disorders due to use of cannabinoids
Cannabis (derivatives) Found in Body
That just makes me want to find out who wrote that death certificate. So I can slap them of course. I wouldn't need to slap them if I was high right now. ><
Which leaves out things such as lung cancer and situations when the person who was high didn't die themseleves, other medical conditions caused by smoking.
Smoking pot apperently does not cause cancer. (first paragraph)
Personally I do agree weed should be legalized (or at least make it a fine instead of jail time), people should be free to do what they want, even if it's self distructive, as long as it doesn't endanger others. But even if it was legalized, just as much effort should be spent trying to teach children that it's bad and that they shouldn't do it.
