That's not what I said, I said it doesn't alter your behavior or decision making.
So you don't know what the word influence means. You could look it up, but that'd mean putting down the joint.

This is a direct result of anti-marijuana companies spreading lies and made-up facts about it. People see those commercials and studies and think that the plant actually makes you behave in that kind of manner, and therefore in their mind think that's how they should be reacting to it as well. There have cases where people get drunk of off non-alcoholic beer, or are given placebo shots to treat pain, telling the patient it's a pain killer, and the pain 'disappears'. The mind can have a powerful control over you and if the truth was told about pot we would all be alot better off.

drunk of off non-alcoholic beer

Yeah, you're just a run of the mill burn out idiot.

Know why people can get drunk off non-alcoholic beer? Because it does infact have alcohol in it. Just no where near the amount that regular beer contains. Something like 0.5% compared to 5~%.

It's not in their minds that they're drunk. They really are drunk.

And yes, the plant does cause you to behave like that. THC, buddy. It's a psychoactive substance. Do I need to repeat it again? It's not a lie, you're just really ignorant.

maybe, but marijuana does help in making people dumb and lazy. dozens of my friends in HS smoked it, and just sat on their ass at home watching movies. Didnt have a job, didnt go out unless it was to a party/friends house to smoke/drink/watch movies (and even when I check up on how theyre doing NOW, its still the same with 80% of them) I know Marijuana doesnt do this to everyone, but it helps in making people live this way. And to me, that is just annoying, no offense to anyone.

Wow, really? I definitely didn't know that... Feel free to call me ignorant, haha.

Also, high school kids aren't generally working with machinery, or driving around most of the day, and well in to the night. Nor do most of them have access to guns(despite media hype.) They usually just smoke and fall asleep, because they lack any real responsibilities.

You're comparing two different worlds when you're talking about high school students and adults. The dangerous of being influenced, either drunk or high, aren't even comparable between the two, simply because kids are still restricted from what they can do.

No I'm really not, because what I'm talking about are responsible adults. Personally, I don't drive if I'm blazed out of my mind, I never go to work high, or anywhere that I need to be coherent. When I smoke I smoke at home or with friends and I sit around playing games/listening to music or going to bed, I don't try to split atoms or handle VX when I'm doped up cause that's just stupid. Maybe you all forgot the part about responsibilty that comes with being an adult, with anything you do, whether its pot or alcohol or skydiving. You drinkers don't go and get drunk before work do you? So why are you assuming that pot smokers are that stupid?

Yeah, slam enough of them back, and you will get drunk. It just takes a lot. But thats also up to the human body.

Theres a reason why Aspirin comes in different sizes and recommended doses. The same applies to getting drunk and high.

I never said otherwise. Infact, I even said that the risks of alcohol even increase as an adult.

If your only defense is to say I said things opposite of what I have, then maybe you should lay off the stuff for a while.

Yes, it's all up to responsibility. Which is why 100,000 deaths per year by alcohol out of 4 million people is pretty paultry, in my opinion. Come back when it's a number higher than 2% of the american population. 2% of every person living in the states being stupid enough to get shitfaced enough to either kill someone, or themselves, is pretty amazing given the general intelligence level of our country. In all honesty, it should be a lot higher because of that.

Yup, that's true. It makes you lazy, but I'm down for that. I don't go out and do anything that I'd normally do (physical activities, climbing/hiking/etc) when I'm high, I sit around, and I enjoy it. Of course when I'm not high I still do all those things, and that's what I'm talking about when I say responsibility.
Everyone take a lesson from Ruffy, not only in not being a dumbass about the subject but in not being a jackass about it either, he's the first one to post that hasn't tried to turn this from a discussion to a flame.

You'd have to drink gallons of that shit to get drunk, why not try getting drunk off of mouthwash while your at it? It's possible, but you have to injest so much of it your practically killing yourself. I'm talking about small amounts here, not a beer bong.

You're the one that brought it up, man. Why are you trying to shoot down the possibility of it was one of your main defenses to Marijuana not affecting you?

There are people out there that are incredible light weights, who can get pretty drunk off a single can of Budweiser. These people would also get drunk off a single six pack of O'Douls.

Just like with what I said about Aspirin. I honestly don't see how people can find the smaller pills helpful in anyway, but there are.

Woops, I meant 0.2%.

I don't understand that paragraph at all.

The general anti-pot populous and everyone who assumes that all pot smokers are that stupid, not any one person.

I used to smoke pot pretty regularly about five years ago, and you don't realize how much it messed with you till a year or so after not touching the stuff. Your thoughts will come much more quickly once things have had time to repair. I can't think of a single person I know who used to smoke pot (not all of them quit for their health, most did it for their wallets) who doesn't say a year later how much of a retard they were.

I can agree that responsible use can prevent alot of incidents when high, but getting high will often make you irresponsible. Youd be better off finding some other defense than declaring we're all just being fooled by some anti-drug campaign. Using bias literature from the legalize hemp group trying to compare apples to oranges isn't going to impress anyone but a stoner.

It's like me saying "R&J Reynolds funded research has yet to tie any cancers conclusively to smoking. There are still too many variables that occure over a persons life to make claims reguarding cigarette smoking and your long term health. To top that off, many of the worlds oldest people have been smoking thir whole life and drinking hard alcohol."

See how that works? It may be true, but use your head. The info that your given by these groups is specifially designed to make you side with them. Hemp growers just have th perk of their audience being stoned most of the time.

Excuse the long post. Summary: "pot didn't poison the apple, it peeled the skin"

If I get really high, and I mean astronomically high, I get violent urges. It ain't cool. I'll spare the details but it makes me uncomfortable with myself. They're just urges, not actions, but violent all the same.

This isn't a problem with marijuana. It's a problem with me. If I get pissed off enough, the same thing happens. Somewhere deep in this bag of meat is a core of inhumane violence. It was not borne from drugs or alcohol, and I'm sure a large percentage of humans have the same issue but hide it all the same.

I've never thought "wonder what it'd be like to shoot this guy" or "man I'm so high, I wanna ram that car". Those cases are people who likely have violence somewhere in their genes, and simply pushed themselves to the brink of acting on it. They lack willpower, self-control, and responsibility. Flawed humans.

They'd do the same horrid deeds even if they never touched marijuana, I can almost guarantee it. Someone would just have to push their buttons in the right pattern. Adultery, betrayal, teasing, any of these could have made those people cause the same harm they did simply because it's part of who they are.

Ever since I noticed this violent strand, I've learned to work with it and not ignore it. Slowed down my drinking and smoking. I still smoke quite regularly, but I know my limits and when to cut myself off... and I do it. I have 110% confidence and faith that it will never be a problem, because I am aware of it's existence and how it might be activated.

These cases of "reefer madness" are very likely all people who would turn out to be murderers - regardless of marijuana's involvement, or lack thereof - if the right emotional tripline was triggered in their lives. Marijuana was their catalyst, not their formula.

I won't deny that marijuana has detrimental effects to a person's health and mind. Any sort of entertainment that is smoked, drank, snorted, injected, whatever - they all will have side effects. But when they start affecting your self control - something that is tough to measure in medical studies since it can vary based on a person's soul/aura/spirit/whatever - that is when it comes down to the individual's ability to control themselves.

If they can't contain the beast within them, they're doomed for failure and they always have been.

You know why pot isn't legal, despite its medical uses? Because it causes too many detrimental health problems to legalize. I've been doing research papers and reports on marijuana for literally 4 years. I think I know what I'm talking about. Most people (not pointing fingers, just most people I talk to that do it) think that because they smoke it that they suddenly know everything about it. They know jack shit aside from that it gets them high. THC (Tetrahydrocannibinol...sp? don't feel like looking it up) is what makes pot...pot. It goes straight to the brain, causing the high, but the residual smoke in your lungs cakes them with chemicals, which are absorbed and travel throughout your blood stream. The truth needs to be told about pot...if only users weren't so fucking stubborn.

To Skaw:

There ARE non alcoholic beers that have 0.00 alcohol content, that taste so close to beer it's very hard to tell the difference.

And to Fly:

110% Agree with your post, "Marijuana was their catalyst, not their formula."

Sorry for the shitty short post with no body - busy night at work ; ;

Ex you have smoked yourself stupid. You say that pot does nothing? You kill off more brain cells by smoking one joint than hitting your head on the ground from slipping. You can regain some of those cells but you will never have fully capacity because pot deterriorates the brain. You wonder why I call you stupid your sig is made from people that want to legalize pot and don't have real statistics of deaths that had a catalyst involving pot because the brain was under an influence at the time that distorted thought and hell even vision for that matter.

The funny thing is, that in his sig he says there's 15,000 deaths from illegal drugs each year, but then lists pot as a separate category. Last I checked it was an illegal drug, and just like everything else there's a limit, remember the lady who killed herself drinking water?

Wow, biggest derail ever. So anyway...

smokin cigs doesnt make you stupid. smokin pot does. simple as that.

How do we define stupidity? Smoking something that you know will shorten your life and make the latter years much less pleasent to live, all the while throwing away money that you could be saving or spending on something else seems pretty stupid to me. *shrugs*

As for the sig in question.. it's obviously wrong. There's no way to determine how many deaths are in part related to marijuana. It might not be the medical cause of death, but that in no way means that it wasn't in some way responsible. So yeah, do whatever you want to, and I'm certainly not going to stop you (I smoked my fair share when I was younger), but don't be ignorant. Thanks.

Still waiting on something to support your statement. 3 pages and nothing more then 'i've read papers.' It's a genius defense, but i digress.

Actually marijuana was a victim of racial intollerence thanks to the asian influence in the country around the turn of the century and the opium wars. It's quite easy to find the historical documentation on it if you're unaware. there have been a number of fantastic threads about this, unfortunately given the nature of QCDNs history it is somewhat difficult to find the archives of all of them. Personally i feel this one adresses this entire thread more then adequately.

http://www.qcdn.org/showthread.php?t=15493&highlight=marijuana

There was, however, an incredibly well written post some time back by trippyhippy that i believe is lost in the unsearchable content or simply beyond me to search up that completely shuts all theories presented in this thread as to the legality of marijuana and how it came to be illegal in the first place.

Contained therein was the exact transcripts of the court proceedings where the issue was taken up and more historically accurate information which shows clearly that the surgeon general was pressured by governmental sources who were in turn pressured by every single industry that would be damaged by the legalization of marijuana and the mass production of hemp related products.

Feel free to do some reading and consider some unbiased sources before spouting off at the lip about things you are entirely mistaken on. Personal bias is one thing and that's entirely keen by me, speaking out of ignorance is another thing entirely.

Am i saying marijuana has no negative effects? Hardly. Your assertion that marijuana is worse for you then cigarettes is laughable.
