NA person, Listen thankyou

Punitan, you just have bad luck I think.

Just as there are a lot of players that are used to playing for themselves and their goals (do the most damage in the party) instead of team goals (try to get a good rate of EXP to hour). A lot of NA's that play this game are young, and usually the less team-oriented player is either inexperienced in an online community, hasn't played team sports (teaches teamwork and self-sacrifice for the good of more people than yourself, but I've met a lot of people in my life who know this lesson without even picking up a baseball bat or a basketball), or just don't care what happens.

A lot of NA would love to party with JP. I'm one of those, and I've only been in a few JP parties in my FFXI gaming time, each one was very friendly. Yositune and Utubo were nice enough to befriend me after an Altepa party back when I was a 30-something BLM... that was a very enjoyable 2 hours. All players were friendly (Yositune translating the important things for me). We had a good laugh when I told them I had to go to work, to go cook. One of the mithra said something like "Mithra Wife Mog House Delivery Box Do you need it?" in auto-translator, there were WWWWWWW's all around...

I'm just afraid that I won't be given the chance to meet any more JP players just because I'm American, so I know how you feel Punitan.

Hi all ^^

Being that I play late hours on west coast time (11pm till I die of exaustion), and that my job is a THF... I end up building 90% of my parties. Usually by that time there are not many people lfg, so building them can be difficult and time consuming. For that reason, I have PT'd with many JP's. I have found a few things...

1. Rank is important. I will always look for people rank 5+ I will even take a less desirable job with a higer rank, then a more desirable job with a lower rank. Rank seems to = experience, and shows someone takes the game more seriously, and can work with a team.

2. I build my parties with a strategy. I am a THF and my leveling buddy is a RDM (although I miss BRD's T.T), my first priority is a Tank (NIN pref). Once I have that tank.. getting more players is easy.

3. I ask nicely and I give all my info upfront. Here is what my tell looks like (to JP or NA) [Excuse me] [Experience points] [party] [looking for members] [Team up?] [Thief] [Red mage] [Ninja] [Western Altepa] [Labrynth of Ozonzo] ^^

4. Communication is key. Weapon skills and magic bursts are decided before we leave. Set up voke, What enfeebles are preferred, How much time everybody has, tnl's.

By doing all this, Exp goes alot faster... and I would say that my parties are usually 50/50 NA and JP. Plus, a reputation starts, and by the next time I build a party, people will leave the groups they are in, or stop what they are doing to come level.

One thing that I have noticed though. If you have ever built a party, you know that it can take some time... especially if you want a good one. Alot of NA's can be quite impatient, not wanting to wait. "Just get that rank 1 DRG/WHM", or "Is this thing gonna get off the ground or what" I have had a few disband, and then send me a tell an hour later "Dude, my party sucks. Do you have room?" I always laugh. :P

Anyways, I guess my point is.. there are quite a few NA's that know what they are doing. Heck there are quite a few 75's and close to it. I'm sure there were some really bad JP's in the beginning (heck there still are), we are trying to weed out all the bad NA's ^^

I can sort of argue that Rank matters...I had a couple Rank 5's not know how to do easy things, like SC...
Some people who are just rank2 or 3 play exceptionally well.

I'm not saying it's true all the time, because you are right, Rank does mean experience in some ways...Some people just don't care about the storyline, and whatnot, or they just hit rank 10 in San d'Oria and now is starting the next storyline as a new job or something...

yeah, rank can be misleading. take for example, a noob^^ named Kirayamato who is a Rank 10 in BOTH San d'Oria and Bastok but a Rank 3 in Windurst... or Darke a Rank 10 in Windurst but a Rank 2 in Bastok. some do this for the story, some for the large rewards at achieving higher rank, what have you. and both of these players have a job 74+ respectively. so it can be misleading if they decide to level their Lv.10 WHM or whatever and they're seeking and all you see is Rank 2 or 3.

when i was helping my brother (59PLD) thru Castle Oztroja to get his Magicite done, a friend of mine was escorting a 20ish WHM and another 30ish whatever to get their Magicite and Rank 5. i was like "WTF!!!"

so yeah... misleading like a mofo.

Obviously there are execptions to the rule.

Its like that nasty word "stereotypes"..... There are some excellent low rank players, and there are people re-starting in other countries. But it is a good thing to go by for the most part.

Besides.. Missions 1-4.3 are pretty darn easy.

I remember a month ago, I was in a party, there was a new player, I forgot his name, but this newbie played like he played it before, he didn't have god gear, or anything, but he knew how to Tank, and skillchain, this is in the dunes, he had no subjob, and I asked him if he has played before, and he said he just bought the game a few days ago. He was only rank 1, no subjob, and he plaid better than most lvl30+ people with good gear...Never died, etc.

Cool... Then you can party with all the rank one... no subjob's ^^

Once again..... there are exceptions :/

Nah, I was pointing out that sometimes even newbies are good players..amazingly, but true...

Welcome Punitan to the forums, it's his 1st post here and i congratulate him for writing his 1st long sentence in here. ^^

I PT with JP 90% of the time cause of the timezone differences, JP time is only 1hr later than my time, since i work in the morninf [/sigh]. I love to PT with JP but there are some exceptions who just want "JP ONLY". I know why they do that, it's cause of communication wise. They can change SC in between battles and can tell the other members about it. Now i am smn Job and at lv.64. I make 99% of my PTies since Smn never get invites......still ; ;. But when i make a PT, i always follow my style, either all JP, all NA or 1/2NA 1/2JP (meaning all melees JP and all mages NA). Easier for them to chance SC's and communicate plus the JP will have friends to talk to when in party :)
But because of the "JP ONLY" on most messages, i am unable to make PTies most of the time hence i am still lv.64 ; ;. It will take me like 1-2 weeks to get 1 level. I don't know how can anyone get 2-3 lvl smn in 1 week unless they have a static.
