They won't spare him. He's the enemy to them now, they are pissed off at him for unknown reasons which happened in they're past. They are definitely gonna go all out and kill him ;_;

He didn't exactly abandon them. He needed to return to Konoha which would've happened sooner or later, so he gave them knowledge of ninjutsu to them to help keep themselves safer.

What happened in between then and now is the "Unknown Reasons" that I was talking about. Something happened to them and we aren't sure what it was, so until another flashback appears and explains what happened, its gonna remain unknown.

Its quite obvious he's going to die. Otherwise he wouldn't have made the effort of including him giving the key to the seal to the frog to give to Naruto. I highly doubt he'd include that if he didn't plan on killing him off.

It would also explain how Naruto can suddenly get stronger, and how he goes hellbent on getting revenge, thus making him go past the 3 (or was it 4?) tail form that he used in the battle against Orichimaru.

It was 3 tail at first, but when Orochimaru went too far, he turned 4 tail.

I'm guessing when he finds out Pain is the one that killed Jiraiya during his battle with Pain, he'll get pissed off and lose control of his emotions and chakra, thus causing the 9-tail chakra to leak out uncontrollably, probably going past 4-tail form.

ah, I see... so what happened to the rest of the power? was it lost when yondaime sealed the kyuubi insisde Naruto?

ok, so basically, Akatsuki are only gonna get half of the Kyuubi's power. They're plans have a slightly minor setback now... unless they found a way to take the remaining power of the kyuubi out of that shinigami jutsu which yondaime used. Basically, what they're after is the full kyuubi chakra right?

Well, isn't that because the seal is "locked". He only got up to 4 tail Chakra because Jiraya tried to unlock the seal, which is the time that Jiraiya almost got killed. Its only because of that, that he's unable to go up to 4-tail, no?

And with Jiraiya dead, and the key in Naruto's possession, he would be able to, theoretically, fully unlock the seal and release all of the 9-tail chakra, no?
