Isn't Amateratsu the technique that Itachi used to escape from Jiraiya when he captured him and that shark guy(can't remember name I'll edit it...)?

I was still watching dubbed anime on toonami at the time but it was called Black God of the Sun? A fire that burned even a fire monster?

yes, and that was the only time he ever used it.

we really have no idea what it looks like, only the after-effects.

This chapter is here to explain Amaterasu. Madara Uchiha used it in helping Itachi escape from the leaf village during his defection.

Amaterasu is a technique which overpowers and absorbs all light into a wave of darkness which destroys anything that uses light or air in it's technique.

As such, sasuke can no longer use Chidori, or any Raiton jutsu.

Zetsu marvels over this "Don't look at him"

This summary is pending from some spoiler pic translations and is not confirmed, but it is the most believable of 4 possible stories and as such I have posted it here. I'll edit if it changes.

Just finished 389, it was worth the wait

Amaratesu is kickass, Sasuke appeared to have the upper-hand due to the side effects of Tsuikiyomi until Itachi released it.

It was impressive however that Itachi could still use other ninjutsu, while 'charging' Amaratesu.

I'd speculate that the fight has reached near the climax, still rising action left to be done, as Itachi pulled his trump card.

It feels like watching Deidara vs. Sasuke again(read: something worth reading)

Anyone else find it kind of badass that Itachi's eye bleeds when he uses Amaterasu?

i was thinking about this, and no matter how kick ass they make itachi, i still think sasuke will win. simply coz he is one of the main characters of the story. but thats just my opinion...

if they killed him off i can just see naruto taking over his dream etc etc...which might happen but i think will ruin the story.
 
If Sasuke survives Amaterasu Itachi is pretty much dead lol he could hardly see before it using it so hope it kills Sasuke.

True what Gia said and Sasuke might come with brand new eyes out of this fight. He will need them too, because I see Sasuke teaming up with Naruto to take on Pain or Madara. Ala Ryu and Ken vs M.Bison in the SF anime movie.

very true, when this was done when Itachi and Kisame were captured by Jiraiya he used Amaratseu to escape and previously used Mangekyou on Sasuke. He was pretty much weak after that and his sharigan disappeared and told Kisame he needed to rest.

I have a feeling that when it's over that Kisame wont die to Suigetsu though
 
Sasuke's group is going to have to do something after this fight, assuming that sasuke wins. Somehow I don't see them saying "well, we completed one objective by our completely self-absorbed leader, let's disband now."
 
I wanna see the damn Suigetsu vs Kisame fight right now :(

And about the Dub Anime, someone had an awesome idea when they finally saw the episode where Naruto fights Kabuto (but it really isn't Kabuto) and they unmask him at the end of the episode, someone suggested that they dub over that part with a Scooby Doo ending :P

The Suigetsu vs Kisame fight is gonna look like something straight out of Battle Arena Toshinden. It will rock.

Like Baja said, Sasuke probably will persuade the team to continue with him and take on Madara, he's next on his list after all. They will serve to show off Madara's power before taking on Sasuke; or Naruto...

this is REALLY early, I don't know if it's valid.

One of sasuke's wings was completely destroyed by Amaterasu, but he's okay

Sasuke and Itachi are both tired out and out of chakra.

Sasuke goes CS2 and begins to prepare his trump card.. the jutsu he didn't use on deidara

Itachi doesn't understand how he can use a jutsu like that without chakra (you and me both, buddy)
